What's unreasonable is to come to the conclusion that NOBODY could possibly like the character for reasons other than the name. The harassment by a handful of members is also unreasonable.

Erector, Grimlock, I'm just happy that Waspinator is still in the running for the final vote.

It's incredibly short-sighted, elitist, and frankly, a showing of shallow-thinking. You, yourself, have become so entrenched in what you believe to be true that regardless of what anyone says on the matter you will continue to raise your brow and state, "Yeah, but it's a penis joke, right?"

All these people so obsessed with making a connection between a name and a phallic reference. Penis on the mind?

Well, they really were Hasbro's attempt to do so. It doesn't mean that there weren't some good ones. Try my previously-mentioned MM Battle Patrol (if you ever get the opportunity). Only two of them have that same basic transformation scheme and one of them makes up for it with another enjoyable feature.

Hmmm...well I hope I didn't come across as too negatively presumptuous before, but we definitely disagree about those two TFs.

I was collecting TFs since almost the beginning (a few months late to the start of things) and I was always having to pick and choose which ones I got, not just the ones from later years (and not due to monetary or permission issues).

Getaway was lacking in detailing compared to the '84 & '85 medium Autobot cars, but his posability was the equivalent (or greater in some cases) to those earlier toys. His aesthetics were simpler, but overall more appealing than most of those same TFs (IMHO, anyway).

Also, Fort Max wasn't just great for his size. His posability was two steps short of great (the shoulders needed to let the arms rotate and the knees needed to be able to bend backwards). Not to mention a few fun features with all those flip-out guns, etc.

Too much hands-on top-down management was the reason why things seemed to get goofier and more gimmicky with each new wave.

It's not like goofy gimmicks being introduced every year stopped with the '90s/2000s. The Armada Trilogy comes to mind. DotM's Mech-Tech absolutely qualifies for that as well.

I guess the true test is if these people think of an "Erector set" as a box of dicks. I never had any condemnations with Erector's name until that one comic pointed it out.

I am ashamed of how things have gone in this vote, for those of us who tried time and time and time and time again to no avail to say we actually liked the toy, we actually liked what the character was it fell on not only deaf ears, but malicious and mean spirits, and eventually when we were finally tired of being called liars and insulted and attacked and started to fight back... You know what, I don't care anymore, the funniest part about it all was the people who were making the worst of the jokes most of the time were totally ignored to continue to attack the people who were not... True colors were shown these last few weeks, when the same people attacked the same people over and over who said we were not voting the joke, that was all that needed to be shown, all that ever will need to be shown.

I've said in a few places, many of us would never have raised an eyebrow (to use Kickback's phrase of me) at the use of Erector's name, had the phallic humor not been already attached to it by the posts mentioning the character. While I don't condone the attacks (some of which have been quite severe, to hear tell of it), it's not like people with my position haven't been maligned, either. I have been very careful not to suggest that ALL people supporting Erector must have the humor as a motive (Kickback's insinuations of me, personally, just a few posts ago notwithstanding). I do maintain that the fact that Erector has gotten this much notice cannot be separated from the purile humor (that Kickback himself has engaged in, as my links just above demonstrate), and find his objections to my pointing this fact out, with evidence to back it up, disingenuous in the extreme.

That's not what I said. I intended what I said to be interpreted as: Dinobot being in is enough to guarantee Rattrap, who was better developed & helped get him voted in, will get him in one way or another, eventually. That opens things up to Hasbro auto-recognizing Beast Wars, as this year 2 more characters made the list, & likely will have a representative every year till all those worthy are in.

I had been trying to ignore MMM, but he took a direct shot at me/ Rattrap.

I will refrain from communicating w/ him for the duration of the rest of the HoF Process (assuming my head injury doesn't cause me to forget).

I can agree to disagree, but he appears to be purposefully using provocative language in an effort to get replies. I shall do my best to ignore such statements. I had been trying to run a clean campaign.

On the upside, someone said Rattrap is in the running on the other sites, & has gotten a few more votes here? YES!

Optimus Primal & Beast Wars Megatron aren't the usual cookie cutter leaders & were clearly shown to not be the same characters as their namesakes. Until Hasbro says they were included w/ all usual Optimuses & Megatrons, I won't believe they have been, noooo. & I do believe Rattrap's contributions to both shows as well as changing what TFs can say, in addition to his super-developed personality, makes him worthy, yessss.

Dinobot alone does not represent the Beast Era, no... & even to argue that, you have to mention Rattrap's part in developing his personality.

So in reality, both sides are at fault. One group had members who did have fun with the name when pushing the campaign, and then the other group were unwilling to see past their own interpretation of the characters name to accept this character as a legitimate candidate.
Unfortunately we have not been able to move past this issue on either side and enjoy this figure for its design. I personally had no official TF character reference for Erector, but from a design standpoint he is one of my favorite classic transformers. That is one of the nice things about him. His character was not dictated by the show. He was up to your imagination for his personal development. But due to how this has all unfolded, I have gotten bummed out by all these voting threads. Too much drama for my taste.

    To the mods/admins:

Not to be overly-presumptuous, but as of mid April 3rd, it was posted that the poll would close roughly a day later. It's technically April 5th (at least in the EST). I don't recall seeing any new votes registered in the last half-hour, so is it time for the poll (not thread) to close now?

I think for the sake of all involved when the poll closes this thread needs to go away so we can all move on, and by go away I mean be deleted. I would be saying that win lose or draw, and don't bother attacking me over it, not going to change the fact any.

On a side note, they are probably all asleep by now :lol

I understand that you feel that way but perhaps it should remain a reminder of how we carried ourslevees as fans and friends and how we can all be better than some of us were here. Thats my PSA I guess
