Sales-wise, it's doing ok. Creatively, it's a disaster. Hama's return is actually worse than trying to get thru Claremont's return to the X-men.

Yeah, we had quite alot of UK only stories with ran in conjunction with the US series . Most of which were dam good !!!!!! wanted: Galvatron, dead or alive is a personal fav along with Time wars but nothing beats the great - Target:2006...... epic stuff .....

On the note of a continuation... i'd pick it up even though it was kinda continued with G2 , but there was a few year gap inbetween which could be explored. then again wasnt the earthforce stories supposed to continue after issue #80?

That's a shame. However, I imagine it is the sales part that matters to IDW.

I've been reading the UK Marvel comics, and I just got to Earthforce. So far, I can't tell where in the series they are supposed to fit.

I just hope they don't remove G2 from the timeline, and they decide to continue AFTER that.

Sounds almost exactly like what Larry Hamma did to GIJOE last year bringing it back exactly where it left off, then doing things that feel like a proper modern gritty action comic, with characters changeing sides. The Joes becomeing fugitives, while cobra faces a extraordinary complex computer virus left by the deceased Dr. Venom.

Makes sense that IDW may actually want that for Transformers as well.

Simon Furman's writing has always felt like the proper robot wars space opera Transformers works well as, even when the story is on earth the Autobots take on the decepticons across many continents and climates, like our world is only one battlefield that is to small to properly contain them and the rest of their forces are out in space ready to drop in overwhelming strength.

I'm not really sure where IDW can go right now. Perhaps just wrap up the current IDW universe, do the reset from the original marvel run, and then run the movie stories alongside that. Because there may be a audience their afraid of loseing if they just go the G1 route. In which case creating stories to expand the offscreen characters from hasbros toylines is the most interesting, but I hav'ent quite understood why the movie comics use them as canon fodder, instead of making them soldiers that stand equally with Optimus Prime and Ironhide. As it is now, its just a obscure piece of fan service to have those characters in the corners of your books. But considering how your readership tends to be hardcore transformers fans anyway: it may be part of what is hurting your movie comics appeal.

I don't know if I want a third semi-official continuation of the Marvel G1 comic after G2 and TFCC Classics.

G2 would not be overwritten anymore than Classics overwrote it G2 or G2 overwrote Another Time and Place...

    Right now you have:

    US/UK G1>ATAP
    US/UK G1>Gen 2
    US>Classics

and maybe soon we will get:

    US/UK>Issue 81

I hope everyone who's into the old comics speaks out on this. At this point, this is pretty much the only thing IDW could do to bring me back to the fold.

Well waddaya know, the petition worked. Definately gonna look into this as alot of you had high praises for Furman and his story-telling, kinda peeved that I have to hunt down the other 80 issues before I can grasp the entire gist of this story. Now hopefully the art won't be as horrendous as back then.

    it's not a done deal yet. :)

I think you can still find most of the Titan reprints for cheap on Amazon and eBay and the like. Furman's stuff starts with issue 56. And I'm sure he'd have no problem getting you all caught up in the first issue.

IDW would be stupid not to reprint the G1 trades in their entirety, just on the buzz of the rumors of this.

Given the prices some of the Titan reprints fetch (Time Wars/Space Pirates in particular) I think IDW would be mad to skip a return to the canon-proper (well, it was for me).

Personally I'd be quite happy for them to dump G2 - it may have been better than most of the US stories, but I was never a massive fan of it. Bringing characters back just to blow them to bits seemed totally self-defeating.

Huh, I must've mis-read the title, ah well if Furman's recap is as good as you put it, this should be a sweet read! :D  Awesome summer will be awesome.
