I just got my volume 3 yesterday, gotta say I love the spotlights and devastation but the whole avengers crossover thing was terrible.

Also does anyone know if they will print All Hail Megatron into one these volumes or is it just gonna be a stand alone book?

No...in fact buying the collections (essentially a reprint anyway) instead of the single issues is saving me money.

I used to buy the single issues but I just can't afford it anymore. Now I can just buy the volumes and place it on the bookshelf instead of a box when I'm done.

Thats an issue Im facing now too, I have all the singles up till the ongoing g1 issue 6, then I switched to TPBS, currently I have LSoTW and both ongoing tpb.

Now I don't know whether should I get the oversized volumes to replace the singles, but if I do that, I could face the problem of getting volume 6 or 7 which reprints the ongoing.

    Sigh

The Complete All Hail Megatron will be available in June, and has the same dimensions as the IDW collections. IDW hasn't actually said anything about the future of the IDW collections or the contents of a hypothetical volume 5, but I can't possibly imagine that they would release both The Complete All Hail Megatron and a volume 5 that would in fact consist of the same material minus the Spotlights - it wouldn't make financial sense to do so, as few customers would bother with both.
So most likely the stand-alone book will be the only version, and for all practical purposes it can be considered to take the place of IDW Collection volume 5.

Nothing that I can think of. That's one reason why I think The Complete All Hail Megatron takes the place of IDW Collection vol. 5 - IDW put the Drift mini-series in volume 4 just to get a clean break so they wouldn't have to split A.H.M. over two volumes. I kind of suspect that the inclusion of the New Avengers/Transformers crossover in volume 3 was for the very same reason.

is Last Stand of the Wreckers post-AHM then? i thought it was related in some way.

Also, does that make The IDW Collection vol. 4 the last Simon Furman work in the IDW G1 quasi-continuity? (i say quasi-continuity 'cuz 2 soft-reboots in 3 years or whatever do not a strong continuity make ;) )

Last Stand of the Wreckers is indeed post AHM as I recall it. Guessing they will switch over from IDW collections to series collections most likely. IE AHM is already announced as a stand alone hardcover and Ongoing will probably get it's on releases(s) as a standalone HC book.
