As of this post, BBTS has 88 Scourges in stock. I don't want to hear it if I own 10 of them, and all of them were bought online. Right now everyone has the same opportunity as me to own one, ten, or eighty-eight.

army building is cool if and only if there's a sale. its costly. i want more wreckgars but i can only get more during sales. every consumer has their chance you just have to get there first. just like any other toy out there. online or offline.

Wreck-Gar is the only figure I haven't found in stores yet, multiples of his wave mates though.

It's funny how Wreck-Gar would be the only figure from that wave I'd even consider troop building..

it's hording. You desire 3-5 of one figure. you must have those 3-5 figures. you are hunting 3 to 5 of that figure. the fact you found them together is irrelevant to the need to horde that figure

the thing is, not once have i said people shouldn't horde. it's a problem that's always been there and will never go away, and is only a big issue due to a combination of wave packing, and retailers pressure, in this case coupled with the popularity factor, and the scalpers who snap up new releases to sell on ebay, the hording is more visable and more excessive.

    I don't care.
I preordered Wreck-Gar online at BBTS as soon as the preorder went up. I wanted one, I got one. Also preordered Scourge, but I ended up finding two in Target, and bought two at HTS, so I cancelled the preorders. Scourge is the only TF I've done this with, so I don't feel guilty about it.
Actually, I bought a couple extra of Cyclonus too, but that's because I love the character and the mold, and they only cost about $8 at Walmart. Also, while they weren't shelf-warming, they weren't exactly rare either, so I don't think I deprived anyone of their shot to buy one.

Not all area's have hardcore TF fans that army build, so it's probably to prevent shelfwarming of that character or it's wave mates. That being said I predict TFPrime Decepticon Troopers will be hard to get.
I wonder if hypothetically they release a entire wave of one character whats to prevent the retailers from over saturating the market BW Inferno style. That being said I think all TF fans need to work together and help each other find TF's better, and have some self restraint.

I think using the term hoarding is a poor choice. Unless that person was clinically diagnosed with compulsive hoarding, then you're making light of a very real and detrimental psychological issue.

I troop build. I've got 4 Scourges, 4 Jungle Vipers and 8 Alley Vipers, and I'm gonna get another 3 Cobra Shock Troops for a small squad of 6. I'm in total control of what I decide to get, and my decision to troop build is based upon theme and how I want my display to be seen by others.

I don't have an issue with troop or army building. I don't want to sound to callous, but if you've got the time to post about it, then you also have the time to connect with local collectors or even try asking for others to help. I haven't been afraid to ask my fellow local collectors for help, and I haven't been shy with offering things I can spare as well. My point is that there are a TON of resources for you to use. That tank of gas that you used for the hunt could've been used to drive to the post office to drop off a check or money order for a fellow collector, or a trade item.

Physical toy hunting has always been a game. When you play a game, sometimes you win, sometimes you lose. That's the unfortunate thing about it, but if you're unwilling to participate in it, then try using help from locals or other board members.

PlanckEpoch i never said compulsive hording, and i went out of my way to tie it use of the word with the Percieved Shortages defined definition of the word.

Fair enough. I can't disagree with your original point. Though isn't the definition of hoarding usually focused on a sense of protection and preservation of something? What if someone is a customizer, who intends to cut up the figures for use in custom projects, or repaints, or what not? I don't know if that'd still count as hoarding.

I'm more concerned with why someone need to buy a bazzilion of the same toy anyway. That goes for things like the seekers too.

It doesn't make sense to me for whatever reason. I don't mind that people do it, but I cannot relate to the rationale. T'is not in my programing /Magnus

I have no problems with it, for figures where it makes sense:

    Scourge's sweeps

    Cyclonus' Armada

    Wreck-Gar's Junk-Shit friends or w/e

Hell, I have shelf after shelf dedicated to repaints and redecos even... if I love a mold, I buy as many versions as possible, but, just buying one random figure, same paint, in multiples that has no storyline sense? Now THAT'S hoarding.

People in this thread are acting like someone' just buying a figure in bulk without any sort of purpose to it. When it makes storyline sense, then it's more doing it to have a "complete" homage to a group in your collection than anything else.

And, I don't blame people when I can't find a figure. If they didn't buy mutliples, then there are still hundreds t thousands of people around who can get those same figures ahead of me. People don't miss out on things because of people buying in bulk. They miss out because they find out or go for things too late.

reasonable troop building doesn't hurt anyone.

psychopaths who have 20 scourges already :) eek:)  need more help than anyone looking for 1 scourge.

id like 1 more wreck-gar to have 2, and 1 more scourge to make 3.

I really don't care how people decide to spend their money. If someone wants 20 Scourges or Wreck Gars more power to them. :)  Granted I don't even like buying repaints, much less doubles.

If you are getting them online, then what the problem? Everybody has equal oppurtunies. I kinda iffy about the store thing. One hand, most of us are grown so we can purchase what we want and how many we want.

I don't see this as an issue. If you want it on sale at retail, then you might have problems finding some figures. I have a few means of getting the figures I want, retail, order online, a local specialized distributor or finding them/getting friends to pick them up from the US. I was able to find 3 Wreck-Gars, one at a local Walmart (last one) then two more at a local TRU (left one there). Maiden Japan has created some really nice add-ons for Wreck-Gar including a new head mold in 6 different schemes. He already has another prototype for a 2nd head. Because of this, I can see many people wanting multiples as each Junkion can be unique. As more of his add-ons become available, I will probably want more Wreck-Gars or his future repaints. In case you missed it, here's the thread. I want to find at least one Scourge. If I can find 3, great. I don't think it'll be an issue finding the one here locally.

I only troop build with Star Wars figures. But if someone wants to troop build with TFs then more power to them.

I really don't care about this issue. :lol

Understand that its "every man for himself" out there & we can't tell people not to troop build simply because you haven't gotten that particular figure for yourself.

Might as well direct your concern to the departmental stores, telling 'em not to sell to the people whom are willing to pay for these just because they needed another 99 pieces more?

I know I won't bother if someone ever tell me this...
