I said this before, and saying it again... DOTM Sideswipe is going to be easy for me to find :D

I might be a oddball for saying this, but I glad he doesn't have silver paint on him. Why you may ask; no need to worry about finding scratches on him, and ones with sloppy paint apps.

I quite like this version. The backpack is a little less obvious, and it's some nice changes to the mold. Maybe this will be my first try at a custom paint job.

Not really. The RoTF one sucked. Sidearm version is the way to go.

I like the figure, but I'll wait for a repaint, even if it just has racing stripes or some other little detail added like Strike Mission Sideswipe.

The lack of paint is a huge problem.

Despite that, he looks much better in these images than any other images we've seen so far. It really is a shame that Takara has so far always released the exact same movie toys Hasbro has. I would be very happy to pay a little extra for Sideswipe and Bee with a little paint. I'll probably get both just because the new cars are really cool.

Same. And I agree with ROTF Devastator, the lack of easily damaged silver paint isn't an issue for me.

i love Sideswipe, and i love my Corvettes... but damn, i just don't like this at all... seems like a huge step backwards... maybe i'll wait til its on sale cheap, or repainted as Tracks or something... but damn, really bummed with him.

Nice review Andy. I'll probably pick him up somewhere along the line, but a repaint is definitely a must. I think I'll probably wait and see how big a role he plays in the movie before I decide whether he'll stay as Swipe or become someone else.

What were they thinking with that paint? Urgh there are some awful uses of the the grey plasic, but this is the worst offender by far. If this is the final copy then that's juts plain terrible.

I will admit to loving the crap out of that mech tech gun. That's how you do it.

@ Reviewer: Are you absolutely certain that there's no backward leg movement?!
'Cos these pics here dont support that impression:
    Sideswipe (Robot Mode) | BWTF

That actually looks like some decent 90° backwards bent!

    Aaand another thing:
ImageShack® - Online Photo and Video Hosting
    Awesome?! ^^
The paint is quite dull, but we shall wait for Takaras Version or paint it by ourselves, right? The mold however, seems to be pretty damn neat!

Thighs are the wrong way round on the hasbro stand hence my comment about them being able to move forward with ease but not backwards.

...ok, it looks like they can bend FORWARD in the mistransformed Hasbro ToyFair display pic, thus when transformed properely the forward movement appears to be a decent backward movement.
How far exactly can they bend backwards? =) Would it be easy to cut stuff away to further enhance leg atriculation? What do you think?
Oh and can the chest be folded up completely without leaving that odd gap there?
Two more questions (please excuse my curiousity ^^), uuhm, does he have hip swivels aaand a balljointed head?

Those are some nice side by side comparison shots; looks like despite the mechtech and lack of a roof, he didn't really lose a whole lot of size compared his predecessor. Just looks less bulky, and I think that's what I really like about this one. Too bad about the knees though.
