Used to believe it 2 years ago. Don't anymore. Hell, the magazine I see in the supermarket every weekend had like a weekly prediction for the end of the world in 2010. It's 2011 and they put out an issue filled with new predictions for this year.

Doomsday generates talk. Talk spreads.

Like I said, when 2012 comes and nothing happens, they'll say it'll happen in 2020 or some other date.

News flash: Prophecies aren't true, there is no such thing as magic, and the world will not end in a supernatural apocalypse.

It's not a prophecy. It's when the Mayan ends. There is nothing that says "The End of The World". It's just some peoples imaginative overreacting that caused some of the hype.

 

It just another Y2K moment. Heck when it's 12/21/2012 in America, its the 22nd in Japan, China, ect. When its the 21st over that side of the world, its the 20th on this part. So the whole world end part already blown over with that simple fact.

Stuff happens all the time, always will be a storm, alreadys will be a quake, always will be a riot. The U.S pop up from of a revolution and France had one, nobody did the world end talk during those times.

 

2012 calamity is bull. You WILL know when the world is ending, because alot of s*** will go down when it does happen. Time going by fast is all in the eyes of the individual. I'm stuck in one of the worst places I'd rather not be, and two months have felt like two years.

 

This entire Mayan Prophecy is, like mentioned before, bullshit. The Mayan Calendar is set up sort of like our calender, except their measurements of time are different. We follow the Gregorian Calendar, 12 months each with varying 28 30 or 31 days, the Mayans' concept of a year is alot longer, like several hundred of our years, and the end of their year ends on December 21st, 2012. And like our calendar, a new year begins afterwards.

I don't understand where all this apocalypse bullshit came from, and I LOL everytime in a book store when I see these imbecile authors who wasted money to get their "2012 survival guides" and all these other so-called theories (Which I won't go into to avoid breaking a certain rule) published and on store shelves. Oh and this Nibiru crap that apparently a "Nega-Earth" will crash into ours. The fuck, does anyone ever go outside at night and look at the stars? If another planet was going to make contact with ours we'd be noticing it's effects in our solar system and it'd be pretty viewable in the sky, even in daylight.

It's pseudo-science at it's finest. Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence. Always keep a skeptical point-of-view with these kinds of things until more evidence is shown. Read some books by Carl Sagan, it's what really changed the way I see the universe.

 

Pretty much and people are just noticing now.

 

A good friend of mine once theorized you perceive time as going faster as you get older because each day/hour is constantly becoming a smaller percentage of your life as you age.

And as for 2012 the only thing that I foresee happening is the last stroke of the financial collapse of the world.

like Godziboy1993 said another planet sized body randomly moving through a solar system would cause gravitational havoc, I would be willing to be that even a Deathstar sized body in orbit of a planet would cause so much devastation through tidal shifts and tectonic stresses they wouldn't need the "stuper lazor" anyway, which might I add would not work they show it, lasers do not merge and change directions.

 

At least Y2K had some sound theory behind it. This 2012 nonsense is completely unsupported.

 

Because the 21st is Long Night. In most old religions it represents the transition between death and renewal, or the ending of the old cycle and the beginning of the new one.

I don't believe 12/21/2012 is the end of the world, just the end of the cycle and the beginning of the next one. I do believe something is going to happen on the date to define the beginning of said new cycle. Possibly the birth of the worlds first true A.I.

There's no sense in even thinking about it, because if it is true, it's not like you can do anything about it. I teach MS history, and there have been hundreds of cultures over thousands of years that have predicted various "doomsdays" that have never come to pass. This one just hasn't happened yet. The Maya also sacrificed people because they thought it kept their gods happy, so this is who everyone is believing. Take that for what you will.

 

One of these days, somebody who says the world is going to end will be right. And when that day comes, when everything's going to hell and everybody's dying, we who successfully predicted it will be laughing! Laughing I tell you...
