To me, the wreck-gar mold would be a ******ed choice, and look absolutely stupid with wreck-gar's long neck.

That could work, yeah. Motormaster would still look pretty stupid as a garbage truck.

There's still the thing where DJW has explained he wanted to do Motor Master as an Optimus repaint since 2006, and only wants to do wreck-gar repaints as more junkions, according to his twitter.

 

This set started off at the top and has just gone down hill since.

Even as someone who doesn't collect Animated (I love the show and art, but not how it translates into toys for some reason. Guess I'm weird!), I think that looks sooo much better than the Prime mold. I'm befuddled as to why they didn't use that mold, but I suppose it's Derrick Wyatt's decision. I'd say it's another Octane as Clench thing, but Wyatt's been pretty vehement that it's not. It still could be a Botcon trick (which could turn out to be a funny little tradition, they got me with Clench last time), but we'll just have to take what they say at face value for now. I mean, it still looks pretty nice, but it could have been so much better.

They reeeeaaally should have used Wreck-Gar. His body plus the new head really gives the impression of Motormaster as a big hulking bruiser. The Prime body looks way too slender and the drawn art of him on the stock prime body looks awkward since its in such a heroic stance...

Oh well, I wont be owning any of these toys since I cant afford them/wont be attending botcon but it was cool to see the 'what could have been' of animated.

Something to consider: what if he was never intended to be a big hulking bruiser? What if the slenderness of Prime's body is exactly what was intended?

 

Then what was intended was garish, glaring and should've never happened.

Wow people are coming down on this way too hard and in a very illogical way. I really like the look of him and I'm kinda happy that not all these guys are Animated reproductions of their G1 counterparts. Also making Motormaster grey and silver would have made him and Wildrider the most boring painted toys ever. Makin him black and purple with grren highlights makes him alot more eye-catching to me.

Also Wreckgar would have been great and all, but he never would have fit with the story of this set. These are supposed to be a covert team of Deceps that have the bodies of known autobots so they can go up againts them. Why would the Decepticons think to pick the one Autobot who's body was constructed from amalgamted garbage and an allspark shard as the leader for this unit. Story wise that makes no sense.

 

This work for something made in 20 minutes?

 

DJW has said that Motormaster is supposed to be like a wrestling "villain," so the garish look makes sense.
