G1 was good if you like corny 80's cartoons (like me), quality is what was really lacking, but that was par for the course at the time and they were sure leagues above cartoons from the 70's(dem running cycles). It was good great even, as long and you don't take too close a look. Also Wheeljack is going to be "killed" only to return later as an ineffectual villain, I'm calling it. Also he blows up the base...twice.
Just because something sucked back when everything sucked doesn`t mean it deserves a break. In fact the second you require a ~but~ to justify something`s quality there`s probably something wrong going on. Do you see people buying outdated cars simply because they were good back in theirs days? Same deal here.
yes you did you made my day thank you thank you thank you wheeljack is quite the scrapper, can't wait for this one
I totally agree. G1 is now just taken as an experimental point in Transformers. However, despite that, the comics and toys were great in showing individuality and telling unique stories of almost every character produced toy wise with the show as a detriment to the generation: -Inaccuracy to toy bios and designs -Lack of risk seeing how no one died except in the movie -Lazily animated transformation sequences -Inconsistent continuity -Boring plots and choreography I'm glad that they made Wheeljack less G1(show) in character since he was shown to be an extra, unnecessary scientist and liability to other Autobots with his experiments in the show. If something better is offered, admit it or at least give it a try. (P.S. red eyes = cons, blue eyes = bots, an idea so useless and nonsensical that the series that use it at the beginning [G1 and Animated] can't even follow it through their entire runs. I thought anyone could choose their faction.)
"Sucking" is relative, though. If everything sucked back then, then nothing sucked. And outdated cars aren't bad. They're just outdated. There's a difference. A "poorly constructed vehicle" and "a vehicle that was constucted to its fullest potential, given the circumstances" are two very different things. The same goes for G1. Taking into account the amount of resources, the technological limitations of the time, and the retraints on what children were allowed to watch back then, it was pretty good. Again, it doesn't come close to anything that followed it. But, that doesn't mean that it's bad. It was just limited by... well... the 1980s. The same goes for the Super Mario Bros. It's far from bad, in fact, it was groundbreaking, back in the day. But, it's extremely outdated nowadays, and frankly, I don't want to play it. The writing for the comics, back in the '80s, was just as dated as the writing for the cartoon. I support this statement.
I happy for you an Imma let you finish this episode but G1 Wheeljack is has the best appearance in a Transformer series.
I just realized the poor guy is being electrocuted (sans prod). Poor guy. You better not die on me Jack. Or so help me, I will hunt you down and kill you.
I'd like to think my earlier post was more an 'amused observation'. I don't have a problem with it, but there's nothing wrong with being amused by it if it continues. Besides, he doesn't have to die, just be a character that's contained to a single episode until they decide to bring him back later. All shows do that, it's a common practice.
I get the feeling that after the incident with Skyquake, every time they introduce a new character in this series, it's going to be "Thay r gonna to die!111!" from the fandom, even if Wheeljack survives.
You hit the nail with your post. My problem with some of these non-G1 Transformer shows is lack of characters. I like how G1 had an "army" on each side that weren't drones but individual characters that you recognize or react either in the background or in the spotlight. Anyhow, Wheeljack is not going to be regular on this show. He'll either die or just leave the show with some dumb excuse "Sorry guys, I work solo and going back Cybertron to build crap in my workshop"
Oh and G1 wasn't corny or written badly.. just see if a "controversial" episode like The God's Gambit would get aired now.
If Phil LaMarr voices him, I'm going to squee like a fanboy. However, I read somewhere that John DiMaggio is voicing him. I'm fine with the Scotsman voicing him as well.
Why is everyone complaining that there might be a "guest Transformers" formula, like it's a new thing (or a bad thing)??? Animated had a core group of 5 mainstay Autobots that teamed up with other select Autobots on special occasions, and that turned out just fine. Having a "guest" format would allow for the writers to introduce and focus on new Transformers constantly. I'd rather have Wheeljack "leave to go tend to other matters" than have him stand around in the background, occasionally commenting on something, doing absolutely nothing...
