there is a plan that a few of us have been doing lately. we locate a target close to ones home that is semi low on stock. then we buy some items and return them at another target a few miles away that has more stock. we are forcing store A to retock while store B doesnt and is more plentiful with garbage we do not want. this is yielding positive results and it may not be a bad idea if you guys want to do it as well.

Wait until the collectors in that area catch on and start returning shit to your store. It could happen. :)

Considered it at Walmart, but that would be WAY too much buying and returning. Not a bad plan if you have the time/energy to put into it. Managers used to do it at the Home Depot when I worked there, when another store refused to take some of our overstock, the manager would buy it and dump it on that store in their spare time.

That is pure evil genius. I applaud the concept, yet can see the morality issues.. I'm torn.

What good will that do? They're not going to decline purchases, and they're not going to turn away returns with a valid receipt.

I've considered this as well -- devious as it is, but then I realized it just wasn't worth the effort. For one thing, taxes differ regionally so your return price total may not match and at Walmart they have tried refusing to give me a full refund on returns in the past because the store I bought it at had a lower tax percentage.

Also, you are wasting your gas with such a potentially frivolous endeavor.

After the fact, it probably would have been cheaper for you to order what you want online and pay shipping.

Whats to stop store B from sending some of the overstock you create right back to store A ? Its not like the stores are getting stock shipments from the source, they get them from tru warehouses. I just dont see it working out as well as you hope, for a lot of reasons >.>

    Not to mention its reprehensible

They can do either for any reason.. Not to say they WILL but, certainly have the right to.

Sorry, am I missing something here? It's just toys at a store, how bad can it be?

It's not like anyone has punched a child or stolen from an old lady.

How about you try and retain a sense of perspective and not take the first opportunity to jump on the bandwagon every time. :rolleyes2

    Yeah, I'm thinking this.

I don't think stores (Target stores, at least) send product directly to each other. If our Target is overstocked on something while other stores are understocked, we send the stuff back to the distribution center, which then sends it on to whatever store needs it.

And anyway, this plan only works if the product you want is in stock at the distribution center. I have doubts that our local DC actually has any RTS product, or I think we'd have seen it by now. As far as Voyagers are concerned, we've had only three Sea Sprays on the shelf for a week or two now.

I see the devious side of this, but honestly what is the problem? :/ they're getting money either way, clearly the Targets are close together so no collector should really be going without, and everyone gets new toys that may have potentially been missed.

Yeah...the whole narc-ing out someone for something as frivilous as that...sounds like the same kind of people who want to call dhr/dss when someone spanks their child in public. Myodb about it instead of running to tattle. It's not endangering you, or anyone else, and it's not theft. Run tell dat!

Roll your eyes at yourself. Like you said, "its just toys at a store". Manipulating the system like that (going way the hell outta your way with time/effort/money, over toys) may benefit you and/or your friends but, how about the people that arent in on it that may too want new stock @ their local stores?

    Exactly.

Dont question my perspective on morality, I stand by my previous sentiments. Your idea is reprehensible, IMO.

This only make sense if your time is worth nothing. My time is worth a lot more than nothing so I would pass. If it actually works I salute your tenacity.

Surely though, a collector would know of various Target stores in their area, right? Even go as far as to travel to the different stores on a regular basis in search of new stock?
