Apologies if this has been posted before, I'm new here and this is my first time in the actual forums, but I thought I'd post this here just incase. Michael Bay ready to make you forget ‘Transformers 2′: ‘It was kind of a mess’ [updated] | Hero Complex – Los Angeles Times The picture at the top of this article looks a lot like the MechTech weapons we've been seeing with the figures. I think I heard that they would be able to combine, so maybe this is the combination? Once again, sorry if this is old news.
The picture is new to me. Actually, y'know what it almost looks like? The fact that it has a hatch for Rosie to climb into, makes me think this might've been built for humans rather than transformers. Could it be some sort of human-piloted machine?
We have seen it, but it's still under debate as to what exactly that is. Some thinks it's Shockwave's alt mode- but what would Sam and Carly be doing riding in it? It would be interesting if MechTech wasn't simply a toy gimmick, like Mech-Alive was, but I'm not sure if I want this much attention paid to weapons in the movie. This, however, comforts me somewhat:
The recent picture that showed a life size bumblebee in vehicle mode with a mechtech type weapon may give some credence to the theory.
Well man when the filming was going down we saw that craft cruising and flying through the streets of Detroit, and ever since we saw the first trailer with the ark people were thinking that that is some type of shuttle from the ark, but this Mech Tech I would think has to be in the film somehow, then again could just be a ploy for people to buy the toys???
I'm thinking it's one of two things.. possibly both at the same time.. It' either Silverbolt and that is his normal Transformation (I don't think that is the case though). Or it's some segment of Optimus Prime's Trailer - possibly from inside it - and this is suggested by the cyberverse Optimus toy... However I also think it might be what he combines with to gain flight abilities maybe to get to the ark or to get back from it. I personally think it would be amusing if it's what left of Jetfire - but since we've had no mention of him at all I consider that unlikely - I don't even think it's a character as such but just a "Thing" perhaps nothing more complex than G1 Rollar. But the way something similar is included with a Cyberverse toy and that whatever it is is rescuing Sam & Whatshername from a building seems to suggest it's Autobot related in someway. P.s. Optimus was seen hauling a load of junk about too - I don't know if they were just using the Optimus Truck for grunt work or if it has a purpose in the movie - but maybe it's something made out of junk by "Wheeljack" / Quantum or whatever he's called.
Doesn't change the fact that they're going down a conspicuous hatch, which implies some form of cockpit and thus the vehicle is a manned craft. Or this is the first movie Cybertronian alt mode with a cockpit...
I remembered Bay saying that he likes seeing the Transformers utilizing their weapons while in vehicle modes, perhaps MechTech is the answer to this?
I dunno why I didn't think of it before, but remember that little robotic unit in Prime's trailer with the arm, the missile launchers and the cockpit? If you compare that part of the original toy to what's in the picture, it really doesn't look all that dissimilar to at all, there might even be a bit of a resemblance going on. Of course, I'd be genuinely surprised if they'd actually go that G1 on us, but who knows what the new trailer has in store. More idle speculation: Maybe this is isn't alien at all, but some secret project built by the government during the cold war using stolen Cybertronian technology?
Ooooh, that is quite possible! Especially since there are so many elements that look more Earthen Cybertronian, even when ignoring the hatch. But that was likely just a Hasbro-commissioned prop to promote the gimmick.
Could be the alternate mode of Sentinel Prime or Silverbolt. Maybe some sort of protoform for both of them. Whatever it is it looks pretty weird and awesome.
The recent spot all but confirms mechtech plays a part. Whether the weapons combined make the tank is still a mystery though.
About the initial post, the thing Rosie is climbing into. 'MO' As Goji pointed out, it bears notable similarities with : This is the accessory that comes with Cyberverse Starscream and the toy describes it as an 'Orbital Assault Carrier". Or you could call it Mo. lol, what about Transforming. And it seems to me that all the movies show a certain amount of 'mech alive' and 'automorph' going on.
That is one of the Decepticons ships we saw in the trailer (little ones). The Autobots capture it. Later in the film optimus use the parts. That's it.
Bumblethumper nailed it. Heres the other modes the Orbital Assault Carrier has... though we dont know yet if these modes are gonna be in the movie. Would be cool though.
