I agree this may have to do more with 'first try' and less design time, I'm just going off of what information we had. Not too long back, we had reports that TF Prime toys were just hitting the CAD Stage for an October release. This would imply these guys had a little less work time than the others we've seen if in fact they're going to be released ahead of the main line.

Generations is a collectors centered niche line with little to no media to back it up. That's why Hasbro has limited it's scope to just the most profitable size class. Prime is their next big media push and will be their only media post film. They've already ordered a second season. The situation is a bit different. We'll most certainly see all the size classes here. It's just most likely those designs aren't quite done yet.

Megs bot looks solid... Alt kinda stinks... Nice cannon on the back, though...

 

I'm so happy about how the TFprime line is turning out. And the fact that these human characters are the only ones I've ever actually like, are getting little figs..... Makes me very happy!  

 

I'll wait for the inevitable Voyagers of these two but I'll want the humans, hmmmmm.

Megatron´s alt mode looks like an Eldar Nightwing craft from Warhammer 40K.

 

Man, that Prime looks almost like an Activator. I mean, it's obviously not...but yuck.

Strange since every other Prime toy today has been amazing. Here's hopin' for a Voyager and Leader.

 

Optimus is a pass....

Megatron is by far better looking than Prime atm. Wish those humans had some articulation like the human alliance featured to interact with the Autobots.

 

That optimus is just yuck! Megatron looks pretty good though.

Megatron looks great, asside the visible head on the top of alt mode. Optimus, those chest windows are really awkward looking.

And I still don't get what's so bad about the Optimus. Sure he's not as amazing as Megatron who's like dead on (and have you noticed his chest is the tip of the ship's nose!) but he's not crap. He looks damn good for a small Prime toy based on a CGI model that cheats more than BW Blackarachnia.

Megatron looks pretty rad however, I'll have to pick him and Starscream up.

 

After being let down by just about every new movie figure and giving up on that line Hasbro goes and takes the lid off a can of AWESOME!!! These Prime toys make up for all those movie toys, i love everthing about these figures. Can not wait to get them all and i hope we get some leader class toys  

 

Just noticed the somewhat visible head for Megatron in alt mode... a bit of a downer. I'm really liking the Prime though, especially in bot mode. But somehow, the truck reminds me of that Ebay auction I'm always coming across when I run a search for "custom Optimus"... Some kind of transformable R/C truck mislabeled as Optimus Prime...

 

I really like that Optimus for some reason. He doesn't look very close to the animation model, but as a toy on its own merits it looks excellent. Bot mode looks solid, well-proportioned and articulated and alt mode looks more like a toy truck than a robot that folds up into a truck. Good stuff all around. I can't wait to see Bulkhead!

 

Optimus may not be perfect, but I'd buy that anytime before I'd even think about buying that DOTM Ultimate Prime garbage.
