I'd be down for some Masterpiece Beat Wars figures.

They are there. Look just barely above epps hip. You can see the top of the red wheel fender. Wheels are there.

I see your point from a collector's stand point, but I don't think Hasbro is "cheap[ing] out."

The majority of this Fandom thinks this figure looks like balls and I completely agree that as a collector I think it's a major step back from ROTF Leader Prime. With that being said, as a parent, I'd much rather by Fairypants Prime here for my kid than ROTF Leader Prime. We'll see in the coming months if Hasbro's revenues are up; maybe they're doing things right? My two cents, but I completely see your point.

Just answer me this. Give me a completely honest answer.
If Hasbro didn't care about the fans, and only the money, do you really, really think they would make an updated G1 Wheeljack, a design that hasn't been used since the 80's?

I completely agree, this figure, given the outstanding ROTF Leader Optimus, is simply wasted potential.
But I understand that this toy was made specifically for the children. I've seen what Hasbro can do when they make a toy aimed at the fans (Animated Rodimus and Ironhide), and what they can do when they make toys for fans AND kids (Leader Optimus).

This was a let down because not only was it is wasted potential, it's also fairly obvious that Hasbro didn't recognize that a movie Optimus with a trailer was going to be a huge draw for fans. They focused on the gimmicks, and not the quality of the figure itself.
That, and the design overall just sucks.

    Well.

Hopefully this won't put any ideas in Hasbro's head but at LEAST we haven't been 'blessed' with the grace of a 'powered up' Bumblebee.

You can see the wheels on his ankles when he flies down onto the street and starts slicing up Decepticons.

Watch the trailer again, When he is super prime and he is landing/spinning you can see both feet with the wheels on them.

Don't hold your breath on that one. While Hasbro and Takara do stuff every year to 'cater to the fans', I'm not sure that the Beast Wars fanbase is anywhere near as big as G1 or the movies.

Maybe they'll surprise us, but I don't think they've done much to test the waters.

Yeah couldn't agree more and I'm a Beast Wars fan. I think someday it'll happen, but when? Shit...who knows.

That's not true. They used it in Alternators, and there were homages in Energon and Cybertron.

Wheeljack is one of G1's most memorable characters. The fact that they haven't abandoned it means they recognise its value. They're not doing it as an act of charity, I assure you.

Anyway, I never said Hasbro don't care about the fans, just that the existence of a deluxe Wheeljack doesn't prove they do. I think Hasbro recognise that the fanbase, while not an overwhelming financial force, is still substantial enough to be worth giving a certain amount of consideration.

I'm getting more and more convinced that's it's nigh impossible to translate the beast designs into good toys. The models just cheated too much. The transmetal designs might work, but not the original beast ones. I have a bad feeling it'd end up more like MP Megs, good idea poor execution, and less like MP Grimlock. I'd love to see them try, though.

You know, if this is the only way to get the trailer, I'm willing to pay a sale price close to normal leader price. The Optimus figure itself is a step up from the DOTM voyager, but a step down from ROTF prime. But we all know the real draw of this figure is the trailer itself, an accessory we've waited 2 movies for. So...I don't know. The toy's not horrible, but it should be at least 10-12 dollars less. If it was slightly more than a leader is now, it might not be that bad, and it's still not as bad as Devastator, but 80 is really pushing it.

Let's not get technical with each and every thing I say here alright? You know exactly what I meant. They know fans have been wanting a Wheeljack to add to their classics collection.

When we have one that is as true to the G1 design as they have made, it leads me to believe otherwise. They could have just as easily released Energon Downshift again and called it Wheeljack, and not a single kid would care.

While I don't feel the same level of disgust as other members, I likely won't buy this. That being said, once the design and CGI is public, I may buy a model trailer and make my own for ROTF Leader Prime. I just really really don't like the acutal trailer. The armor doesn't look that bad.

Looks like something form the Armada Line. This figure looks like garbage. This is the worst looking movie Optimus to-date. Very Unimpressed.

I understand where you're coming from. I'm actually still debating it, it's not a total turn off for me but...well, it's a long time before I'll be able to buy it anyway, so I guess I'll figure out what I'll do after.

but at least we know what the trailer does now...and where Prime's jetpack in the trailer came from.
