No, the fact that the Ferrari has an italian accent, it's beyond dumb. Who honestly thinks that's a neat idea in any way whatsoever? It's lazy, it's stupid to the point of being insulting. Robots from space having an accent based on their alt-mode makes no sense whatsoever.

They should get the same voice actor that does Ezio in Assassins Creed to do the Ferrai's voice.

Ok what I am saying is that the last thing we need is another offensive stereotype in the Transformers movie franchise, Skids and Mudflap were enough.

Give it a chance before you hate it, Twin Twist. (still will never understand why you changed your name... :\)

How about Mario Andretti voicing the Ferrari? I'm not a racing fan, and I only remember his cameo in Cars. I remember he had a pretty suave voice and still spoke Italian.

Exactly. If the Ferrari is actually from Italy and he has an accent then I'm okay with it if it's tasteful....but given how ROTF was I doubt that it'll be handled with any restraint.

So you think robots from outer space should all speak like Americans regardless of where they end up? How does that make sense? Italians have accents. If the Ferrari-bot is in Italy it would probably have an accent when it learned English too. The real dumb part is that it speaks English at all. It should speak Italian to communicate to Italians it runs into.

Ok, so we have them speak in their native language and subtitle the whole movie? No, they need to be able to communicate with the natives of Earth, so they (mind you this was explained in TF1) research the planet and find out how: the internet. If they can do this in a an instant wouldn't they find out that it is a car made in Italy, but they need to speak English in order to communicate with the Americans they encounter.

So, being from another place and not knowing all the stupidity, that is of people saying having an accent (that describes a place of origin) is a stereotype, they learn from the internet that people who learn a language as a child and then try to learn another language later in life will develop an accent that is not from the area. It's the same way if someone who is from the US and they try to learn Chinese. The Chinese will know that it is not their fist language because they will have an accent.

Happens in the real world = common sense.

It's going to be a sad day when mods close down a thread because of their personal opinion. Instead of allowing a discussion that differs from their opinion continue because people like to discuss.

Y'know, in the movieverse, I'm pretty sure somewhere on Cybertron they could have accents that are compensation for Italian. In other words, what we know as Cybertronian is the English version, while other Transformers could have another Cybertronian language.

what is wrong with accents? why do they all have to have an american accent? Maybe the bots can have personal preferences for how they speak. If the ferrari likes the way an italian accent sounds then he adopts it, no issue. It also helps to make the character stick out. Besides, like somone said before, accents have been in transformers for ages. G1 Ironhide, Cosmos, Ratrap from Beast wars, and a bunch of the Transformers Cybertron characters are just a few examples. As long as its not over the top, stereotypical italian then I'm completely fine with it.

You know the more I think about it, accents are stupid. I believe accents occur in humans because of something like muscle memory. They are used to pronouncing letters in certain ways so as an adult it's harder to learn new languages without accents but easier for younger people to learn.

Transformers are robots so they don't have muscles. It's all data processing so if they wanted to speak a certain way I'm sure they could....without an accent. They can change their appearance on a whim, why can't they change the way they talk on a whim.
