Good, bad, I'm the guy who's smart enough to google. ;)

Bitch about entitlement until you turn blue, if it's out there, I'll find it with enough searching. Hearing people whine about it only makes me want to see it more. And now that I've seen it, what happens? I want to buy the pictured stuff even more, stuff I was going to buy anyway.

It's a PICTURE of a TOY. Deal with it.

Its amusing that so far the TFCC have only managed to annoy a large segment of their potential customers, the 'debate' that is ensuing from those taking TFCCs side serves only to further enflame ill feelings and the whole thing can only be described as a PR disaster. Its a fan club run by toy fans and if they are banking their sales on the back of getting a couple of pictures first then they are in real trouble as they will get out anyway, people will seem them and the only thing they cultivate is negativity. Lets face it I dont think this latest escapade has gained them many new members.

The real tragedy is the fact that the club has nothing really going for it, late shipping, an old toy repaint and monstrously expensive international membership, a lot of TF fans are giving them a lot of loyalty but this will only go so far, it would be far more advantageous for the club to offer something people really want, an exclusive to the club Alternator repaint (Black Swindle as Trailbreaker for example) would win my membership, they could even do a send in 6 magazine tokens and X dollar promotion for it to maintain the membership. Sadly this would involve investment and that doesnt appear to be in their business plan.

Funniest to me are the clowns who browbeat those who release and distribute the scan, run to dozens of message boards looking for the pic, then come back here to rave about what they saw (and then get stuck up toward others who don't know where to look).

After getting my mag today and actually being able to see clearly what's on the page, my thoughts:

Alt. Mirage: One word for him, LOVE!

Cannoball: Alright vehicle mode, bot mode looks nice except for his head. He has a visor, yet they painted the rest of his head to look like he has a patch. Why not just remold the head to actually give him a patch of sorts, or give him a new head?!?! This guy just went from maybe to "only if on clearance".

10th BW Primal and Megs: It looks to me like they wanted a more technological alt mode for both leaders. Megatron looks good, but Primal seems to have this huge barrel chest and the head looks really messed up. I'll need to see better pictures of Primal, but Megatron is a must buy in my book.

Nemesis Breaker: I was gonna buy him before, I'm still buying him now.

Wow, Galaxy Convoy, is like you just read my mind. I agree with you 200% :D

Anyone care to take a bet that we'll have a thread just like this when and if an upcoming TCC's newsletter features pics of NEO G1's figures?

I'm betting a bajillion master collector's funny dollars that we will.

Mine won't arrive for at least 2 or 3 weeks. I'm glad I was able to see the pic beforehand ... it's like a sneak peek.

Now I'm looking forward to receiving it even more than before.

    Question Regarding new BW molds:

Are these suppossed to be show accurate or what? Last time I remember Megatron was purple, not grey. And Primals head/face didn't look like that at all.

no. they aren't even the same toys. (just refering to megs and prime) they have the same altmodes and all, but are supposed to be much improved designs.

Nope, they're supposed to be stylish redesigns with influences of all designs.

And Megs is purple, just a very, very light shade.

I'll have to agree with Phazer and others (hard to believe I said THAT) that BW10th Op and Megs come off more like homages than 10th anniversary tributes.

I fully realize that these are not intended to be 'show-accurate', and are more a reimagined 'ultimate' or 'extreme' or 'whatever' version. In BW terms, it would be more as if they both graduated to a new body as they did periodically. I suppose you could celebrate an anniversary of a well-known movie or TV show by completely remaking it with a cast too (and they do). It's a little like if, for the TF 20th anniversary, instead of the Optimus Prime toy we got, we got something that looked like Cybertron Prime instead. After all, it has all the parts, colors, and whatnot that makes it instantly recognisable as Optimus Prime, but it's still vastly different reimagined form from the toy and/or cartoon character from 20 years ago.

If I were to pick my single largest gripe with them, it would be Primal's proportions, stemming from the new transform scheme. Every CGI and toy incarnation of Optimus Primal, save for one bat, and one of the less popular Beast Machines toys, had apelike proportion in robot mode, with arms larger than the legs. I consider it part of what makes Primal Primal, much like people expect chest windows and faceplates on any version of Optimus Prime. The proportion throws me a bit on Primal. As stupid as it sounds. This Primal looks like Optimus Prime in a monkey suit.

Bear in mind I'm not saying these toys are bad looking, or bad toys in any way, just not what I would have liked to see out of the BW 10th Anniversary line. I'm not even saying that I wouldn't like them if I bought them (which I probably will). My little fanboy brain was just hoping for something more like improved larger versions of Takara's Robotmasters molds with better detail. Those managed to bring classic design and show-accuracy together in a pretty good way. The new Hasbro ones make me feel the same way I do when classic cartoon characters are redesigned to fit in with todays style trends and thrown on a kids t-shirt.

Then again, At least we're getting one or two new Primals to balance out the endless stream of reissues and remakes of G1 Op/Convoy.

As I said, I'm not saying it as a critique, because I don't really care - Takara are meeting my Primal/Megs needs perfectly. It's more an observation than anything.

I would've kinda prefered them to have animatros keys to be honest, which I suspect they might not.

Hey...y'know, it'd be kinda cool if they'd had special keys done up. Like, a Maximal one, and a Predacon one. Probably won't happen, but it'd kick ass if I'm suddenly clairvoyant here.

Most probably aren't telling others not to post it simply out of love for Brian Savage. He's reputed to have a history of making trouble for Joes sites who post information considered "exclusive".

Not to suggest that here (or anywhere else) wouldn't happily go along with anyone they respected if asked to not publish a piece of news, just that I haven't seen many fans of the way the club is run.

It does make you wonder why they aren't using info to drive people to their own site, and hence to their store and to joining.

How many are currently members, or is that information not released?

And yeah, an Alternators repaint does sound like something people would join for.

Why haven't we seen retaliation against TF sites that have posted pics from the TFCC mag? This happened before with Primus, and those same sites did the same thing again. What trouble could he make, or what trouble did he make against those Joe sites? Any publicity is good publicity. At least that's how I'd feel if I was Hasbro.

Guys, it just boils down to this. It is against the law to distribute copyrighted material, period. But you know what, more than that, for me, it is a disservice to those who pay for the magazine to see those images posted on the internet first. These same images will be available to everyone eventually, through Hasbro's site, Toy Fare, Lee's and so on, but if you pay to be in a club where one of the perks is to get the "inside scoop" then Fun Publications should and will protect their content and the right of those who pay for the mag.

Now, an obvious plus for the newsletter....It's only going to get better :thumb  We have more cool features coming, Landquake is going to rock, club exclusives on the way plus a convention set that will (makes bold statement) going to drop some jaws. I am really pumped about this year, hope you all come along for the ride!

I think it's silly that you're all arguing about pictures of toys.

I'll ask when the Allspark resurfaces... from what I recall of the discussion, Master Collector have in the past tried to control reproduction of information such as product lists. For sites funded by individuals, it's legal threat that matters, not whether they'd be found to have acted lawfully.

There are provisions laid out in law for purposes of criticism and review, as well as reporting of news. I'm certainly not arguing TFormers side for them, but overreaching statements don't help matters where they can be incorrect.

The main point in MC's favour, as far as US law goes, is that TFormers would be competing with them by reproducing substantially in a similar context -- both are deriving revenue from the same distinct page, even though it's a percentage of the magazine.

All the best for the coming year, BTW. :)

I'm pretty sure these provisions (which do exist) would not apply here. If there were a lawsuit, TFW2005 (or whatever other site was making these available) would probably lose on the basis of the law.

But, as I've said frequently, even if the law doesn't apply, people shouldn't be scanning and posting from the magazine simply out of respect for FP. It's just the right thing to do. Not that this matters to many people these days....
