Seems like the people at the toy design factory were smoking stupid juice when they designed Obi Wan. The single biggest problem with the toy is his hands. They are stuck in a position that forces you to bow out his elbos like a moron. Furthermore, you can't really do anything with the lightsabers due to the lack of wrist rotation. If only his hands were a ball-joint. But the thing is... They are ball-joints. Ball joints will a pin stuck through them. A pin that doesn't do anything but restrict hand motion. I removed the pins and found they do nothing to keep the hands attached...they hands stay on just fine without 'em. Chalk this one up to pure stupidity. Those pins gotta' go! Go get out there and remove 'em! :D

In other news, the designers were stupid again and added blocks to his waist that serve absolutly no purpose other than to restrict waist articulation in 'bot mode. Shave 'em off.

Note: I didn't think this should go in the kitbash forum, since it's really more along the lines of "factory assembly error".

Wow, now all he needs is a head replacement and he'd actually be pretty cool. Anyone try a head transplant with this one yet?

I got help from the kind folks in the kitbash forum. It's easy and takes about 90 seconds. Get a small nail, a hammer, and pliers. Put the nail on the pin and hammer away until a small bit pokes out the other side. Grab it with the pliers and yank. That's it.

Just be very gentle when using the hammer. Light tapping, it should come out easily. If not, try hitting it from the other side. If you're smashing it like you're hammering a nail into a 2x4... well, that's not quite how it's meant to be done. :p

you get the feeling that the TF designers started it, and the SW designers came in and screwed it up? ;)

I just removed the pins, and WOW, what a difference. It makes the arms 100% better.

As for the waist, I tried taking it apart to cut off those blocks, but the hips seem to be screwed AND glued together. I don't want to risk scraping it all up trying to shave them off while it's assembled.

Did you take the waist apart, or just hack at it while attached?

I hacked at it while it was attached. Take an exacto knife and slice off little slivers like you were cutting slices of cheese off of a block. It will be gone in no time.

Thanks for the cool pointers, I did it today and he's that much cooler, and I even went a bit further, I shall have pics in the kitbash section soon. As for the waist, I used a dremel, came off easy, just make sure that you lift the windshield out of the way. Oh as well as Obi-Wan :D

I was planning on customizing mine anyway, so thanks for the heads up, I'll be doing that.

BTW, once the robot head is deployed, you can swing the chair back so Obi-wan sits upright in robot mode, and far more importantly, the head is locked in the raised position.

I don't beleive you can take the suck out of the starwars transformers. If you did you would just be left with the vehicle mold or perhaps nothing.

I went ahead and did both, works real nice now.

I got him for the intention of customizing him, and also cut off the R2 unit, heads up to anyone else who wants to do that, it's a softer plastic and hollow. So, now I've got to cover up the hole with some Kneadidite before I paint him.

Well Last post i was still reeling from the suck of Vader and Greivous.. I've decided to get either Boba or Anakin.. I may get Anakin because of a better head... But those pics do make Obi Wan look good..
