Oh please, share you opinions! I don't want to discourage that, but consider the fact that not everyone will be swayed and may still want to experience the toy for themselves. We all have different things we look for in toys and may have different priorities. While you may feel that the toy was a failure, another may love it because they had different priorities.

The thing was bugging me was just the general attitude about it. That whole sort of "We're right and if you disagree with us, you're an idiot" sort of thing. Obviously that's hyperbole there but it was the sort of attitude that I was getting at least. It's like faulting someone for liking the movies. Hell, I know the first one was pretty bad but I still liked it as a simple, fun film.

Like I said above, the arm movement thing isn't an issue for me because of how I picture Ironhide as being an overbuilt strongman who emphasized strength over flexibility and lost some. The chest transformation may be bothersome but I know that what some people find bothersome, other's find easy. I know a lot of people complained about the WFC Bumblebee's transformation into vehicle mode but I spent some time and realized this small little part everyone kept over looking and got it to work just fine.

But who knows, maybe I'll get the toy and agree with you guys. *shrugs* I don't know yet. I still want to get it because it looks good and, for someone as aesthetically driven as me, that's the important part. I think he'll look damn good with my other movie toys. Sure, the original voyager may end up being more fun but this guy might still be good for display.

I guess we just can't win...

Normally I like to hear people's opinions on figures that I've only seen in photos. I wonder if those of you complaining that we posted our opinions go through all the threads in the feedback forum saying "I don't need your reviews thank you very much, I already know what I'm going to think about this figure".

In no way are we trying to be elitest or come off as arrogant, funnily enough - and this is something not enough of you seem to grasp - we are actually trying to be helpful, god forbid.

We are not telling you what to think, we are telling you what WE think.

I know you are trying to be helpful, but the extent to which you guys are insisting is where the issue comes. Saying "Hey, I played with the figure and I didn't like it" is one thing, but when someone says "Oh, well, I think I'll still get it anyway" and coming back and saying "What? Didn't you hear what I said? It was a bad toy! Don't waste your money!" is starting to cross a line. Do you see what I mean?

What I and the others that have seen and played with the figure are trying to get across is our beliefs about it. We are offering first-hand opinions. It isn't my intention -- and I am certain that it it's not the intention of the others who were with me -- to force our opinions on others. If you like the look of the figure and fancy getting one, go for it. We cannot and will not stop you. Not to put to fine a point on it but we are all okay guys and only want to share our impressions with those that are considering the figure in an effort to help them out. I will never claim to know better.

Perhaps if we had put our thoughts into a video and posted it on YouTube we would have opinions that are more acceptable. What we're doing and saying is no different to the creation of a video or photo review. All we are lacking is the video and photos so you can see why we are saying it. So, what's the difference between our reviews and those posted in video format? Maybe we just can't compete...

Indeed, in a manner that completely dismisses a whole figure for a few *extremely* minor details. On top of that, you're recommending a figure (original Ironhide and its remolds) that have equal number of issues and aren't even remotely close to being screen accurate.

Your opinions are fine, however it's clear as day that the proportions of the figure aren't the big issue you're all making it out to be. Ironhide has very low arms and huge shoulder pads in the movie, the proportions are close enough. Go ahead and google Ironhide, the arm proportions and locations are very accurate. The legs are longer, but it's not a big deal.

There are so many things that are clearly incredible on this figure from the very, very good review Peaugh posted, like the almost non-existent kibble in both vehicle mode and robot mode, to the sweet, accurate detailing, to the general quality in sculpting. It's as if you all ignored all those facts over something as trivial as arm articulation on a character that is supposed to be closer to a football player than a super-articulated ninja.

That's the thing though, they are your beliefs. Not everyone will share them and you just have to accept that instead of fighting us on it. I mean, this thread has turned into a discussion of your opinions rather than a discussion on the official pictures from Hasbro because every time someone said "Yeah, OK, but..." someone had to chime in with "BUT I PLAYED WITH IT AND THOUGHT IT SUCKED! WHY AREN'T YOU LISTENING TO US?!?!" Again, I'm exaggerating here but to make a point.

Maybe. The reason why people will go more towards the video reviews is because they can actually experience some of the figure in action. They can see the transformation, get a good look at the figure and add their own observations that to the comments of the reviewer.

And we don't always listen to the reviewer. As I recall, some video reviews hated ROTF Arcee but I still picked it up because I loved the design and, you know what? I love the figure! I'm glad I didn't listen!

It's the difference between sharing an opinion and implying/telling someone they are an idiot for not sharing that opinion. Some people may, others will not.

So come on guys, let's just drop it, smile and be friends! I'm sure people will take your thoughts into consideration but they just might not be deal breakers for everyone.

I wouldn't call an arm that connects to the torso at what appears to be the elbow a minor detail, either.

It might be. That's the thing, people have different priorities in figures. For you, it might be an extremely important point. For others, it might not.

Now, from what I've seen, there is an upper arm. It's just very short and has movement limited at the shoulder by the truck parts. It doesn't look like it will bother me, so it's a minor detail to me.

I know some people are disappointed with Leader Starscream because he didn't have wrist articulation. That's a big deal for them and (I believe) some even passed on the figure because of it. For me, it is a minor detail that does not deter from the rest of the figure.

Now, like I've said, maybe we'll pick up Ironhide and it'll turn out the shoulders are an issue for us and it does ruin the figure. I'm sure a lot of us will have a great, big helping of crow then. But I know where my priorities lie and it isn't with shoulder articulation.

I think our intentions have been misunderstood somewhat. I for one have pointed out that the transformation of certain areas of the figure are, indeed, impressive. I believe Auto Morph has pointed to the attention to detail in the moulding. We are all quite impressed with the Mech-Tech weapon. Our personal opinions of it are negative, I know. But I can assure that we all went into it with our minds open and in some cases quite looking forward to a new Ironhide. As a collective unit we were left disappointed.

I believe the problem may be that we have continued to act as a collective unit when offering our criticisms of the toy. I can assure that we aren't trying to make people not buy it if they want it. If you like the figure, go and buy it! We are not some alliance of dictators imposing our will on the masses.

In person, I felt the proportions looked off. It is not simply a personal dislike of the lack of arm articulation. It's the way he looks and feels in-hand. But, please, do not let us stop you. I don't want that. None of my colleagues want that. Please don't believe that we're trying to prevent you from buying something you like. We didn't like it. We've said that. Any and all posts that have made some think we are trying to encourage some massive boycott of the figure are competely mistaken. I have no problem with someone liking this. I like a fair number of PCCs and a lot of people are not taken with them.

The toy clearly has the elbows and shoulders joined in very similar spots as the character design has them. You're getting thrown off by the extra joints the animators added to the shoulder pads *above* the shoulders. It's something I noticed way back when we first saw the original character designs, Ironhide has *very* low arms and the huge shoulder pads give the illusion that they're even lower.

Right. You wouldn't. Mr. Mudders, apparently, would. Opinions differ. Coolio.

But the whole problem is the "My opinions are FACTS" deal. It's a problem as old as time, seemingly raised exponentially by Teh Internetz, but that doesn't keep it from being really damned tiresome.

Perhaps you've put you're finger on it. I'm sure it has not been intentional.

However, I will say, it certainly wasn't helped by posts like this:

    Yeah...that's a little patronizing.

I'll raise my hand and apologise if I've said anything that gave the impression I was trying to tell people what they should/shouldn't like - it was certainly never my intention.

I still think it's a ruddy awful toy though, and I won't apologise for that or hold back on my opinions - the arms should not have such limited/non-existent arm articulation and a floppy chest (I'm aware of megatroptimus' fix for this, but why should we have to do that on a fresh-out-of-the-box toy when Hasbro/TakTom couldn't do it in the first place??).

    I like this figure.

The colors are aweful with the mismatched light blue grey and lack of black detail paint...

But we've come to expect that from the initial release.

The arms may be limited, but I'm still very curious... I'd like to see more...

I'll use the Recon cannons, too.

I am GLAD there is a segment of the fandom willing to be brutally honest and not falling under the trend of liking everything new. Just because something is new doesn't make it good.

For example, I've enjoyed the first 2 movie lines. I like HFTD. I'd like to know the good and bad parts of a mold. When I first saw DOTM Ironhide, I liked the sculpt. I still do actually. However initially I didn't know too much about how hindered range of motion was for the arms. I don't care if the arms are placed accurately to the CGI model or not. A guy like me just loathes when range of motion is diminished, canon be damned.

So maybe with the help of a katana, assault rifle, steel baseball bat, et al, I will be able to figure out just how to free up range of motion on DOTM Ironhide's shoulders. Until someone finds a way, right now it seems like a lemon to me.

The thing is, I'm one of the movie lines biggest supporters. At one point I probably had over 150 figures from the first two films. I'll support and/or recommend pretty much any movie figure you can name, Payload, Swindle, Dreadwing... you name it, I always try to find some good in everything.

When I found out on the day that we were suddenly able to handle and play with a NEW movie figure months before release, I was as giddy as a child on Christmas morning! After seeing all the photos on TFW I went in all ready and set to fall in love with what would surely be the defining movie Ironhide figure.

At first, as we all stood there trying to figure out how to transform it without any instructions, there were various comments going around, quite mixed at that stage, but one thing everybody kept asking each other was "have you managed to figure out the arms yet?"

We collectively stood and scratched our heads trying to work out what every single one of us was doing wrong. Then it slowly dawned on us...

I don't want to bang on endlessly about how bad I think the arms are. I think I've made my point. However, I think certain people *cough35InchMudderscough* have chosen to completely ignore anything positive I had to say about the figure (and I DID comment on what I thought was positive as well) and just rant and scream at us when they haven't even had the figure in hand and think they know better after watching a 15 minute video review.

Buy the figure, don't buy the figure, I don't think I actually care any more. I, like the other guys present on the day, were just trying to be helpful and honest about a toy that the vast majority of those reading this won't have had a chance to experience yet.

To me, there are positives to be found in any figure, but the negatives for DotM Ironhide are so fatally debilitating that it completely ruins the toy IN MY OPINION.

I mean sheesh, we all LOVED the Mech Tech weapon, but apparently that's not important... :rolleyes2

Ironhide has a giant robotic tuna on top of his alt mode. YES. <3
