Looking real cool. it's great to see the W.I.P. just one thing and please don't take it the wrong way, i think the roof part looks a bit weak and may snap off. Keep up the good work i am just getting in to customs and enjoy looking at the work of pro's. if you get a chance check out some of my stuff and if you have any advice let me know. Dawgstar
Thanks man I'm pretty sure I'm gonna pick up a set of your cast primus hands. And yeah the roof looks a little weird now but its all first run work and I'm still deciding if the legs are too big and bulky so I am looking for opinions
One thing that I have lernt is that you cant please us all at the same time, it looks fine to me but is there any chance of the side veiw of him in robot mode to see just how far they stick out. keep up the good work.
ask and you shall receive first is the side angle second is the curve i was talking about on the back of the leg and the 3rd is how much area i could take it down so it wasnt as tall if i decide to. this guy is far more trial and error than the precious ones. i was content with him till i did the chest now i see more i could do and i am trying to figure out how to do his arms differently as well
You gotta do something about the feet, man. Fold out toes or sculpted detail or SOMETHING. Other than that, this is sweet. Every time you update this, I think "Oh damn, this guy is seriously raising the bar on Devastators."
Well i think the legs look fine. if you make them much thiner then the alt mode will look wrong and as for feet a quick easy fix with folding out feet. i am sure that you will notice loads over time that you will want to change i still find things i want to change on my Devastators and im sure everyone's the same.
Hooper x. I agree he needs something but this is just the shell for me to build the detail onto so it's really early stage work (I couldn't look at this thing if I spent all that time on the chest plate and left the feel like this). But thanks for the compliment And dawgstar you are so right. Mixmaster was the first one I did and I'm goon completely redo his upper body it's always changing and I'm always learning. It really is amazing what you can do with plastic Thanks guys. Next up will be detail work
Well, as far as the toy's concerned, he didn't really have feet to speak of; I'm not sure if the 'toon's any different in that regard. Maybe flip-out jobbies would be good if you can do them, but I personally wouldn't concern myself with "accuracy" so much as capturing the important recognisable features and making the rest just... cool.
I have been going for the all hail megaton look , but it only shows the feet in the sketch work in the back, but I want to add something with a bit of an ankle so he will pose better. I'm just out of ideas I was thinking of something like universe hounds feet adding a hinge to a flat panel on the bottom and putting a toe like thing on it.
Oooooooooo interesting, i like that your scratch building the constructicons and then you are still gonna have them combine, thats a tall order your setting for yourself i hope it comes to fruition
And I just happen to have a spare set of those. Should be doing that soon Thanks guys And ratimus prime it may take me some time, but I will get it done
well it looks like the universe hounds feet will work quite well i spent some time cutting one up to my needs and have it realatively close to where i want it. should have a pic update tomorrow with feet attatched and if it goes well some more detail added
well after some time off due to a death in the family i am back with a lot of progress, hounds feet worked out great but i cant help but feeling the rear section still needs some more detail (besides the smoke stack) anyway on with the pics your not here to hear me blab
Sorry about your loss, Megs, but this is coming along nicely. Regarding the detailing on the rear section, I'd suggest holding off until you've included everything that needs including. Get your smokestacks on, and I'd suggest bevelling/chamfering the edges of the legs a little too. Then take your step back, maybe get some more photos, and then start thinking about whether it needs more detailing. Also bear in mind that right now, it's all just plain white, so it's bound to look bare; you've got your paintjob to consider as well.
very true but let me put my thought out i think the front of his shins look good just wont to work on the feet a little bit, but the only real detail i was considering is adding something to the side panels in alt mode (right behind the rear wheel like a grate or something to suggest the motor of a vehicle would be in their and needs to breath.) i have my paint scheme laid out for these guys (take a look at bonecrusher that is the paint job these guys will get although bonecursher could still use a little tweaking) i have become more confident in my skill since i have finished him, but somethings when i get done they dont look as good as they did in my head (but the bright white does hinder the look a lot) thanks for the condolences
