For each boxed set you order, you can order a bagged set. No boxed = no bagged, unless you want to go down the eBay route.

And yes, you can buy an Iacon set, which is basically the same as the Primus set minus the attendee freebie, and get it mailed to you.

Regarding the Customizing class, what time do I have to be there?

As for pre-registering, what are the payment methods.

New to Botcon, what things MUST one know?

    Hey all,

I'm a childhood fan of the original G1 transformers, I was 5 when the first season aired! Got back into TF's in 2009 with Animated.

My question has several layers. Trying to plan my trip and agenda.

I'm going to be attending Botcon for the first time and would like some tips and heads up from those who have been.

#1 Generally, what should I expect from each day/all 4 days?

#2 Is there any reason to attend Wednesday? (Heard it was a preview day, no buying or panels?) What are the tours? Are the customizing classes worthwhile? What do they consist of?

#3 How do exclusives and special at Con toys work?

#4 I'm traveling with friends that might not want the exclusives, can they purchase pre-reg tickets without the exclusives? (Avoiding the general admission line at the door would be nice.)

#5 Does Botcon offer Free Industry professional admission badges like other Cons?

#4 What are the interesting panels/events or Q and A panels?

#5 Is there anything I should be sure NOT to miss?

#6 Anything I should try and avoid? (Lines, strange people...wait we play with robots, that's all of us.)

Thanks so much for your time and any help!

#2) - If you're going on the tours or taking the customizing class, the answer is yes. Otherwise not really, unless you want to hang out and relax.

    3) There's the box set as part of the primus package. If you pick up your set at the show you get a bonus attendee figure. Thursday night during registration, the convention exclusives go on sale, Typically there are 2 - 3 sets with any where from 4 to 7 figures total.

    4) It's called a protoform package.

    5) No idea

    5) Washing Daily and I would say the Hasbro Designer and new products panels.

Your best bet is to go to the botcon website and look through the FAQ sections from previous years as well as the brochures.

    Here is my question:

I do want go to Botcon, but my dad has back problems and the distance from the 2nd hotel to the convention center concerns him.

Any way to help him so he can feel better?

    Thanks,
    -TF2

Here are some of my answers:
1.) Thursday - If you are in a class or on a tour, that will fill up your day into the afternoon with Registration later that night. Friday - Panels and Autographs and Early Vendors room preview (you have to be a Primus package holder) and hanging out with fellow TF peeps that night. Saturday - MORE Autographs and Panels and tons to see and usually a Botcon Party that night. Sunday - Panels and Autographs again (not all guests autograph each day), Do not miss the Hasbro Design Panel and if you are still around they have the drawings for Free Trips to next years Botcon.

2.) You really only need to be there on Wednesday if you get in on a class (which is hard) or you sign up for a tour. The tours are different every year, so who knows :) . Last years customizing class got to paint and assemble a G2 Sideswipe which skyrocketed in price the day of the class. It is an all day thing from what I know and like I said, it is very hard to get into with limited seating!

3.) With a Primus package you get the Boxset and a badge that gets you into everything Botcon! After you register and pick up said items you go over into the souvenires line and buy what ever add-ons you want. They announce those right before registration starts. It's also a little faster if you have cash as the Credit card lines lag a bit.

4.) It's called a protoform package and is usually about half price, but with the purchase of a Primus (which I assume you are getting), you can add a "mini-con" which is like $70-80 and is for like spouses, friends or family who are joining you but don't collect.

5.) You receive a badge when you register and it has your info on the front with the BC logo and on the back is the schedule for the entire Con ie: Panels, Autographs etc...

6.) Voice actors panels and designers panels are great and you should not miss. I personally like a majority of them, but it all depends on your interest. I've never been to one of the Cosplay ones for example.

7.) If he is there, do not miss the chance to meet Peter Cullen. He is so awesome and a very humble person. If they have another one this year like in '09, don't pass on the Party at Paramount. That was amazing and well worth the price. It was nuts to be in a buffet line just talking it up with David Kaye!

8.) Good luck trying to avoid lines at Botcon :D . I often find myself jumping into lines and later asking what it is for. You never know...
It will also feel like you are standing in line to get into another line sometimes... It is not your imagination. It really helps to just strike up a conversation. My wife and I have made a lot of great friends the last couple of years! Say hi, I'll be the guy in the Transformer shirt! If anything, I would avoid being shy. Like you said "we play with robots" so just be your self... It helps!

    Hope I helped...

Yea, when registration goes live you need to be within at least the first 100 and even then it is sometimes too late. Just be glued to your computer once the brochure goes live.

If I am correct they start around 8am or 9am at the latest and are an all day activity.
Credit Card, personal checks and Money orders. You would probably need a credit card handy if you are trying to get into the customizing class, as they are first come first served...

The only Freebie is the Attendee one and I believe it is one per Primus package holder.

My mom tried doing reservations for the 2nd Hotel for Botcon 2011 (by going through Botcon's Link) and got this message when trying for the Botcon Rate:

"Please note that the group rate you requested is not available"

Does that mean Botcon-rooms are gone or is it an Error?
