Nope not even close. Same character, not the same figure.

There is just some paint differences thats it nothing else still not worth paying $280.00 for that set you can not make a true argument to spend that much for a $12.00 figure those guys running botcon are truly ripping the people off if the hartmans ran the show maybe $150

    Whaaaa?

They are all pretty much generic thug characters (except IDW TC), but it makes sense to release the one who is identical to Starscream later on...considering that they released Starscream (and Acid Storm) in 2008.

Moreover, I'll be getting TC, but Thrust and Dirge are prettier overall. :p

    Jerk alert.

I myself have seen NO anger on this message board from people claiming to actually have the set. Only "hur hur I bet people are upset" cackling from people who claim not to have one.

Awesome, can't wait. Would love to get other Seekers/Sky Raiders, too, but with Ramjet's missiles.

Someone jealous much? You couldn't afford the Botcon Thundercracker, could you? So instead you belittle everyone else that chose to purchase it as their was never any real indication that Hasbro was going to release him at retail. How's that working for you?

    FAIL

The problem I had the set and sold it nice profit but my point is that they are ripping people off at that show its not like it use to be I have been a dealer at 6 shows the customers can't buy at the show because it is truly over priced you need to sell at 35% more than ebay to break even. Then they release it in Japan then here that set will come down drastically in price. An exclusive is an exclusive for me now to finish this rant they came out will Starscream, Ramjet etc they will come out with the last two repaints too. No more rants

They're different enough that I think that the Botcon sets will still retain a LOT of value...but I think they will go down, unfortunately. I'm glad to get the chance to get Thundercracker and not have to pay hundreds for it. I think it was a mistake to make such important characters THAT exclusive...they should save more obscure characters for Botcon sets...

I agree that they should have not made those characters an exclusive

I paid hefty prices for my Gentei seekers and I don't mind this release one bit. Looks pretty good, but I prefer my Gentei TC. Generations Dirge and Thrust were nicer than Gentei, though.

I'm current owner of a GOD set. Bought it on day one. But hasbro releasing a version TC for retail doesn't bother me the least bit. Not every GOD set owner is going to get bent out of shape about this. In fact I will buy this TC just because I want to and I can. :thumbs2:

At the time, Hasbro was planning classics as a on-shot deal. They thought that it wasn't going to be popular enough to warrant a continuation. Thrust/Dirge/Thundercracker were put out because at the time Hasbro was thinking that was the ONLY way they were going to be released.

I'm sorry, that Thundercracker is UGLY:lol . So i'm not sure why anyone would come here and start saying owners of the Henkei/Botcon set are pissed or jealous.

My retail priced Henkei Thundercracker is just fine and i'm not losing any sleep over this new figure nor am I upset that more people can own Thundercracker now. Good for them! TC is one of the classic Decepticons that belongs in everyones collection.:thumbs2:

I couldn't resist quoting you becuase I've gone through the entire thread and have not found a single GOD set owner that is upset about this. Yet you seem very sore at Hasbro and/or Fub Pub for having producted the GOD set when you've made it sound as if you don't own the GOD set. It has been almost 4 years since that Botcon. I don't think you'll find any angry GOD set owners around here. But I'm happy for you that you feel vindicated.

Both of these comments pretty much cover my thoughts except I do like the Generations TC albeit not over my Botcon or Henkei but I will grab one since it's only like $10 and it'll be a nice figure to fiddle with so my GOD set and Henkei TC & SW can stay nice and minty and never removed from box, which suits me wonderfully :thumb
