It's odd that they are running the two movie prequels together. For ROTF, Defiance was a month or two ahead of Alliance. Perhaps there was a delay with one or the other of them.
There has been delays with both. Originally Foundation was supposed to start in December and Rising Storm in January, but for some undisclosed reason the start of both has been delayed until February - my guess is that it is at the request of either Hasbro or Paramount, possibly because they didn't want the prequels to reveal new details or characters too soon.
I had assumed that the prequels were pushed back because they're both four-issue series and, if they'd started in December and January they would be finished by April and May respectively. Which leaves two months before there's the film. Seems like a big gap. Now they should both finish in May which leaves room for a weekly adaptation of DOTM to run in June before its July 1st opening day.
The movie adaptation itself usually fills that gap. Now it'll likely run concurrently with the last issue or two of these.
after reading the description for foundation #3, did anyone think "nothing's gonna stand in our way--NOT TONIGHT!" ?? no, yes?XD
I have purchased all of IDW's tie in comics, and no doubt will buy these too. That said, I enjoy them only as light reading. They never truly tie in and allways seem to be ancillary, what-if stories. I hope the DOTM tie in stuff is better worked out but I seriously doubt it.
I'll be waiting for the pb issues because they ussally are some much nicer, especially the target versions because all of the extras included. The IDW movie series are awsome. The stories vastly expand the transformer movie universe and they really help you get the know the whos, whys, whats, wheres, and hows and so much more of whats going on. They totally tie each movie together right where the last one leaves off tho where the next one begins. But the best thing is the stories in between are almost big enough to be they're own movies.
I'm glad I don't buy comics any longer, I don't think I'm missing that much. They don't even seem to make sense in the context of the Movies. I think IDW reputation is so low for me since their All Hail Megatron Megatron comics and that uterly dreadful parade of oneshots. As a cost benefit calculation I think I'd rather spend my Money on Toys and if I ever really feel the need to get any it would be as cheap Trade Paperbacks.. but so far I've not really felt positive enough to them to really get excited about them. Hopefully those buying them get more enjoyment out of the than I did.
I must admit, not all of the comics are that great. It just depends on the writers and artist. My personal favs for writers are Chris Mowry and Simon Furman . They are well seasoned and use a good arsenal of wize and intelellent words and speech in their writing. As for the artist, Alex Milne and Don Figueroa are awesome. When these guys team up, the comics are 5 star. The Reign of Starscream, Defiance, and Alliance were their work and continue to get high praise. But as for Tales of the Fallen and Nefarious, uhh.. not so much. So if you see the names above, its worth your money. As for the other guys, which I wont name cuz I dont like to diss, they're not the best. But I still think it's worth getting every tpb if you want to know every story, detail, and tie-in of the transformers movie universe.
So have the main G1 comics become interesting enough to start reading again? I pretty much haven't read anything since Last Stand of the Wreckers, the writing just decided to not go anywhere after that.
Yeah there is a problem with Foundation release dates also, I presume we will be getting Issue 1 of both fairly soon as I think there is a week coming up with no/very few TF Comics due out Infestation intro and Prime issue 4 this week, Transformers Infestation Issue 1 next week. No TF comics due for the week of February 9th, maybe here for the movie comics ??
I've never been much of a comic colector, but I'll definitely be getting all the TFP stuff. Just got the first graphic novel today. Only about half-way through and I'm already looking forward to the second one and this third one.
Transformers: Foundation has finally been given an updated release. Issue #1 is now slotted for February 23rd and Issue #2 for March 30th. D-Drive gave us that info.
