Never thought I'd say this, but so far Hasbro's winning in the United vs. Gen/RTS competition.

Kup - definitely like the painted rims, but the metallic paint just doesn't fit the image of a battle-tested veteran.

Blurr - doesn't really matter. As much as I love the Drift toy, Blurr deserved his own mold.

Wreck-Gar - I really thought TakTom would have painted the dishwater-grey parts a metallic silver. Huge disappointment. Plus the colors just look better overall on the Hasbro version IMO, despite what some would refer to as the paint scheme's inaccuracy.

Perceptor - Okay, I'm still one the fence with this one. The painted details of the United version's vehicle mode make it look TONS better than the Gen version, without a doubt. Plus, there are the untinted windshield and headlights. Actually, so far the only reason the Hasbro version stands a chance is because of the extra chromed pieces which make it look more like its G1 predecessor. As for the red: I'll need to see a side by side comparison of the two. There's really no way to tell which actually looks better when the toys are photographed under what we can presume are two completely different circumstances.

...which reminds me: Has there been an in-hand comparison of United and RTS Grapple, or U vs. RTS Tracks for that matter? I'm really anxious to find out if there really is an "orange vs. yellow" situation with Grapple, and if the metallic blue paint really adds that much to Tracks as it appears to (so far it seems to be turning into the only instance where this is the case).

Not out yet. The only figure we've seen from that wave 'in-hand' is Lugnut and that was a weird leak at that. I don't really remember all too many Takara-Tomy leaks, so most likely we won't see pics of the others until they come out late this month. Tracks should get comparisons right way, Grapple on the other hand hasn't even had a release in the US. I don't know if the asian countries that get Hasbro toys early have it yet, but I don't expect to see comparisons until he arrives in the US and someone with a stolen RTS Grapple takes pics.

I will reserve judgment until I see side-by-side high res comparison shots. Who knows, the final product may end up getting the Lugnut treatment (for better or worse).

But so far I'm liking United Perceptor - just need to swap the chrome bits.

I have a shiney teal Kup coming in the United 3-pack, so I was going to pass on the United version regardless. Was hoping that Blurr was going to be like the Hasbro version except with metallic paint - but the lack of other colors to break up all that blue really seems like a bad choice on Takara's part - but again, let's wait and see. Wreck Gar looks marginally better in those pics, but like others have commented, I would have liked the grey parts to be nice and metallic or even chrome. The paint apps around his abdomen and hips looks good, though.

United Perceptor is a definite buy for me, and then I'll wait on Wreck Gar.

Can't wait to see United Wheeljack!!!! Please Takara, hurry up and get em done!!!

Wreck-Gar is different enough to warrant a purchase for army building, other than that meh...

I'm definitely going united for Perceptor and Wreck-Gar.
Already have generations Blurr, andf find him superior to the united version so I'm sticking with him.
I'm unsure what to think of the united Kup, sure he looks flashy but isn't that a photoshopped image? Apart from shiny paint the only difference I can see is the chromed(?) rims, which does look the part. Anyway, I'm going to get the ehobby release so I might skip gen/UN altogether.

United Perceptor definitely looks nicer in vehicle mode, but it's all Generations/RTS for me for this batch.

Yeah, United Wreck-Gar is more cartoon accurate, but that is really not doin' it for me in this case.

Vehicle mode has black trim instead of gray, blue pain, and a white background on the Autobot tampo (I wish Hasbro did that).

'Bot mode United has white abs and a nicer Autobot symbol again in 'bot mode, the same shiny blue paint...and not much else.

I just love how that blue paint looks.

The thing is they didn't spend extra for a retool, as it was done (like the other Junkion head) at the time the mold was created. So it didn't cost them any extra.
