Whelp, looks like Battle Blades will still be the definitive version in Voyager format. The reason why for me is purely because this one comes across as Optimus Prime with a bunch of stuff thrown on him. The giant cannon is off putting too. But, I'm sure we'll be wowed with the new transform.

 

yah but you can tell they aren't going to make prime look like a pile of plastic-crap in the movie. just sayin

 

lets hope that wave 2 stuff is better i do have admit this is looking to hot at the moment they could also re use the other prime in the futer as well in a few waves time

this is hasbro they dont like makeing a mold with out thinking of some way to re use it

I guess the bonus to the fig is that he is in scale with Megatron. Did anyone ever get a reference pic to HFTD BB Optimus?

 

I think what they're getting at is the step backwards in details. FAB figures have tended to have bigger, broader, simpler details- and compared to the last couple prime toys, this feels similar.

I'm sure the actual transformation is at least a bit more complex than most FAB.

Never liked Movie prime, but this one looks awkward with the huge canisters in alt mode

 

Not liking it so far, but the ROTF Leader and HftD Voyager are so good they might as well just do something totally different and see what happens with the design.

 

ok now Im not the biggest fan of this, but its not bad I guess. Something is really missing because has anyone seen the last voyager Prime to come out...amazing....then I see this. It looks cool but its the last Prime to come out to really point out the differences, isnt their goal screen accuracy??? These toys are sure quite different from the past two films......

Megatron in black wouldn't look bad, but then he will look like Darkman...Prime on the other looks confusing, what exactly is his mehtech, I mean mechtech?...

 

Remember, these are merely Voyager class toys. Everyone keeps trying to draw comparisons from past Leader class figures, but the thing is...these aren't Leader class. While I'm not entirely impressed with any of the DotM figures and the MechTech gimmick, I keep holding out hope that the final models will be of better quality (w/ finished colors, etc.). I like many others think that the weapons seem to form something (whether it really is the Ark is uncertain). All I know is I really want to find out what they're doing w/ Shockwave. Considering both Megatron (TF1 main villain) and the Fallen (RotF main villain) both had Cybertronian alternate modes I'm betting Shockwave will as well. Anyway, I'm hoping that they'll make a Leader class of him though and won't end up getting shafted like the Fallen did. Him and Megs are the two I know I'll probably get. As for the other figures, it's just a matter of whether I really feel like buying figures of characters I already have...

I agree, the main thing that strikes me as FAB-ish is the head; it's not in proportion with the body. However the figure overall is more detailed than a FAB and definitely isn't one. Hopefully we can get a release later with a smaller head. Wondering if the TF1 voyager Prime head sculpt would look good on it.
