Our first milestone was matching the 74 waves already established by the PC community.



This was a huge pro-blem-o. Both of my teammates got kicked out in the same wave after their console's crashed. This was suppose to be my "I did 79 waves alone now-what! prank pic" but I opted to tell the truth instead. In wave 118 the same thing happened again and I was tempted to just die and call it a night. During 118 I had a very hard time initially because I was overwhelmed with Brutes and massive gunfire. I honestly thought I was going to die and then I remembered seeing MrGreen's tactics (top secret) with Brutes and I cleaned house with ease shortly after...



Then, we had some in-house joking going on in my home about whether or not the game was programmed to receive 3-digit waves. We were wondering at this point if it would infinitely get stuck at 99 waves. LOL



We got our answer.



At this point, it would be interesting to point out that after wave 120 Shpankay and MrGreen were not able to see some of the Brutes. I noticed this and started gunning them down before they could get near anyone with my Photon Burst Rifle.



I was just gonna go to bed and let them have at it while I slept but I decided instead that we would end it at wave 130 so I can get 4 hours of sleep for work.



I did say 130+ didn't I? If I didn't have to work today I guarantee you we would still be piling the waves up and nearing 200 waves right now.

There are so many things on my mind and I am not sure how to start this but I guess it would only be polite to thank the PC community for their Wave 74 run since they accomplished something great under horrible circumstances. I didn't have anything in particular to aim for but 74 was a starting point, I guess, so thank you for setting the bar up high.

Something that has always bothered me is the flame war between PC and Console gamers and all the trash talk that goes with it. I don't like it. I don't believe I am inferior to PC gamers because I use a console nor do I believe they are inferior to me because I use a console. I understand there is a sense of pride that goes with holding a record or establishing one and that usually gets the ball rolling for any flame war. I haven't seen any of it here and I am grateful for the lack of it. I still think it was something I should address because it bothers me enough to mention it.

Shpankay had gone to wave 84 with another team before, then, Shpankay and MrGreen went 90 waves in District (same map). Only reason they stopped there was to get some shut eye. During their 90 wave run they were not able to see Brutes during the 80's waves.

They may not have had the pictures to prove it publicly but I believed them. I've seen them play. They are experts in survival and can survive any wave alone at any stage. These guys do solo's and 2-man wave attacks daily so they've mastered their craft very well.

Anyway, MrGreen and myself did about 26 waves by ourselves before Shpankay joined us in wave 27. Neither of them died at all during the course of the day although each of them had their console crash 2 times each and had to rejoin the match (Waves 79, 118). I died 2 times in the first 26 waves (wave 17, 23) because I am a moron and that's all you need to know. We didn't take any formal breaks as it was not necessary. If you needed a break all you had to do is stand on a pillar in the medic room and do your thing while the other 2 guys trashed the enemies. I left for at least 40 minutes they held their own by themselves from 121-123 after both of them had gotten kicked out. I just bought them their weapons and healing grenades and they cleaned house as they usually do..

That's crazy. Wave 130! How long did that take overall?
I'm impressed. I think my eyes would fall out of their sockets and my butt would probably be permanently numb after that.

 

We started roughly at 7:10am PST and we committed suicide with Magma Frag Launchers around 12:10am. That's my thing, suicide, I refuse to be killed by the enemy.

Dude everyone has busted up Broken Hope, thats not a challange at all. I've gotten to the high twenties with a squad of rookies on Broken Hope.

I think we should make a thread that lists the records for each map. Obviously with proof and whatnot with them. It should list the overall record, which would be you guys with 131, but list the individual map records, the ones that we know of at least. That way other guys who visit this forum may have something to shoot for. Also should list the members of each team that was part of a record.

Just a thought...

 

Really wish I had taken a pic when my team got to 73 in District, though since the bar has been raised thats sort of moot right now.

Still it would be a fun little task to undertake. I'm in the middle of going plat for another game, but that shouldnt take much longer, once thats done I'll probably return to WFC.

The one map I would love to see a real record get set for is Pulse, its the hardes map in the gam IMO, very little in the way of cover and you need a good team to survive. Still its not as unforgiving as Static, blasted glitch that makes you fall through the floor for transforming...

I'll be honest. I am not a huge fan of 4 man games for certain maps. Too much lag and it can get crowded in Forsaken or District if you camp. Also, I really like to make statements with handicaps so you know how that goes. The last time we played together I intended for me, you, and MrGreen to go at it alone but somehow waver managed to force-spam his way in despite me setting up the match for "Invite Only". You have been a part of my 3 man team runs, you know that's how I prefer to role on the easier maps, I prefer 4 man teams on Pulse, Static, and Remnant.

Anyway, I thought it would be fun to experiment with 4 guys to test my new PS3 under the same conditions from a week ago. I am really curious about what will happen after or during wave 65. Will you all still be able to see the Brutes this time around? That's worth the effort in my opinion. I really think keeping your PS3 cool is a big factor here. I just don't think most people put that much effort or thought into it. I know I didn't during our last run..

We have a rain storm here in So. Cal so I am guaranteed nice cold weather for tomorrow's run. We'll find out if my theory is correct..

 

I guess it'll depend on how well the connection holds up tomorrow. All 3 of you are on the west coast, I'm east coast and there's gonna be snowstorm coming my area so my connection might crap out.

 

I do acknowledge that they made it to wave 131 and all that good jazz and stuff ok? but the thing is, they are comparing their record of a dlc map that we pc players do not have, and honestly that map is the easiest map there is... if they want to beat the record they should do that with a map that pc gamers do have! we can say that they have the console record though, but if we had an all time record, it is only fair if we have that be broken hope map, or maybe remnant but i doubt remnant... we pc players have no way of toping that record unless ur suggesting us to make it to wave 132 in broken hope, which is in theory pretty much impossible.

 

It would not be impossible if it were not for the glitches. They got to 131, which is awesome. They also have the overall record. Theres nothing we can do about it. This really is not a real serious competition. So what if they got farther than the pc players, it really doesnt matter. If me, whyme, snipe, and mordechai ever get together in a escalation match again, we may try for 131, the problem is getting us together and actually wanting to play escalation.

For starters, I am not comparing anything to anything. I don't even think I mentioned having a record or anything remotely close to it in my post. I don't know if some other group of jerks have done more waves. I think it is possible.

All I did was document our journey and share it with the board and nothing more. I showed love to the PC community in every post I have on this forum. I have nothing bad to say about any of you but I hate all the animosity that exists between communities. That's it..

Well, I'll have you know that some of my friends have done 84 waves in Broken Hope. I'll make sure to gather them up just for you.

I honestly do not think a group of 4 guys can survive that long in Broken Hope. That map is seriously broken in terms of glitching. By myself, I am sure I can carry my team through it, but they'll be knocked off along the way unless they camp in the highest parts of the bridge or something.

Broken Hope is by far the easiest map. Out of all the maps I do solo's in, I survive the longest in Broken Hope, in fact, if I didn't kill myself, I would NEVER die. It's that boring.

You just have to know HOW to open doors and that is as much as I have to say about that..

I don't think I have the stomach for another run like that either to be honest. I dread invitations to Escalation matches. I spend more time playing Force Unleashed and Castlevania these days. I am over Escalation.

We did attempt to make a run at Broken Hope last Monday but my console crashed in wave 54. A stinking brand new PS3 slim. I don't know why... it just happened. I think Broken Hope is just "broken" in general.

Me and my friends were just WAAAYYYY too close to destroying this record. We hadn't, however, due to the fact that it wasn't a private escalation, and that several people were joining. I'd like to give thanks to LiMiT21, MrGreen75, Manta-Ray1, RoboGamer1, clintplusbecca, XxTHE_GAMER165xX, and FaceMan286. All of the connected servers must've caused my game to freeze, thus making me loose a total of 131000+ points (-_-)
