I'm a little sleepy dellusional right now so I'll save my picks for later and just help you guys figure out some titles. I also have a very hard time narrowing them down because I have so many favorite stories that I love so much.

What is the rule on multi-parter episodes here? Does one story count as one episode? Or one 30 minute part count as one episode?

    That was

    -Dark Awakening
    -The Burden Hardest to Bear

Metroplex also lost his transforming Cog in The Five Faces of Darkness, but Trypticon did not. I believe in Ghost in the Machine, that was also another episode that Trypticon lost his Transformation Cog - thanks to Unicron in that instance.

For me, I'll take pretty much any Season 3 episodes. I love them them all in that season because they all build off of each other to tell the story of the Transformers history and origins, as well as advance the mythos with creative developements and progress, such as like we saw in Rebirth.

    Tough to pick three but...

    1. Secret of Omega Supreme- A fun episode. We finally get some insight as to why Omega Supreme is the way he is and what motivates him. The dialogue between him and Prime was very well written and intense for a kid's show. I love when Prime tries to talk him out of destroying the Constructicons and Omega just responds, "PRIME, MOVE!!!" Plus, Omega owns Devastator in the second half of the episode. The last scene was cool too.

    2. Call of the Primatives- Only of best animated episodes for G1. Lots of action utilizing lots of characters. Plus, the Dinobots show why they are still one of the toughest teams to beat. Love the way they fight back after Swoop gets blasted while inside Trypticon. Fun episode!

    3. Heavy Metal War- Another fun episode. We have a gladiator type battle between Optimus And Megatron. Megatron using all the Decepticon abilities, and Optimus still able to fight back. (Even though he wasn't able to beat Megs.)
    The Dinobots vs. Devastator...'nuff said!
It was a nice finale to season 1!

Another episode I really liked was the one where Soundwave dueled against Blaster. It showed how much Blaster had to go to match his rival -- Blaster had to essentially "cheat" to defeat Soundwave.

    Plus, Soundwave laughed.

possibly, the best Gi episodes i've seen are

    1. Dinobot island pt 1 + 2 : because of all the decepticon action, and Megatron getting Fed up of starscreams whining.

    2. Ghost in the Machine : Trypticon, Ramjet and Thrust (despite dying in the movie, they had a medium sized part), Starscream, Metroplex shooting powerglide and going crazy, Warpath, Astrotrain being dumped over Cybertron, Runabout and Runamuck getting beaten by starscream's ghost, Galvatron trying to destroy scourge.

    3. Countdown to Extinction : Starscream going psycho against earth, Megatron coming back to command the Decepticons, Rumble getting hit by a boulder, etc.

Season 1 is great. Very serious for the most part.
The first episode, of course, is classic. I also like the story arc where Megatron brings Cybertron into earths orbit.
Season 2 has some really fun episodes in it, and brings Transformers back into an intergalactic arena.
The ep. where smokescreen in on an alien planet and meets another autobot. I liked the way that episode established the Decepticons as an intergalactic threat.

Episode 3 Call of the primitives is another classic. The animal Transformers all teamed up to save the universe from a threat worse than Unicron.

I really like the episode in season 3 where Galvatron is comitted to a type of planetary insane asylum. He gets free and destroys the entire planet. heheh.

The Golden Lagoon. It's ending is so beautifully melencholy and poiniant. The animation rocks, too. This is my personal favorite ep, btw.

Auto-bop. Despite it's cringe-inducing title, this episode features the dream battle of Blaster versus Soundwave. It has killer animation, and is just plain fun as hell.

The Secret of Omega Supreme: a great origin episode featuring the backstories of the Big S and the Constructicons.

Heh heh...I remember the days where a new episode came on of Transformers, Thundercats, GI Joe, or whatever, and that would be the talk of the day during lunch hour or in our auditorium before school started. AutoBop particularly stands out as it because that's something we always wanted to see, but never happened. That, and Enter the Nightbird...we wanted a Nightbird action figure :thumbs2:

Boy this is tough... I'm not even sure these are the top 3 for me... but I think they have a little more meaning to me for different reasons.

3.MTMTE part 2 - because it's the first episode I ever saw. The openning shot of Trailbreaker and Huffer still wows me, taking me all the way back to 1984.

2.I'm going to cheat and say this a tie

Search for Alpha Trion - because of the Female Autobots. To me it had that same feeling of when the Dinobots were first introduced. I was positive Hasbro was going to be releasing them in the next line. I guess because I liked the idea so much, and that episode was the only time Females were really featured, this episode has special meaning for me.

Introduction of the dinobots - because I so loved the Dinobots.

3.Call of the Primitives- which I have no doubt is my favorite episode. It had a cool concept of all the beasts from both sides teaming up to go off and fight a common enemy. At the time, again I thought this was setting up the line for next year. That is until the episode was over, then I knew it was just a stand alone show. The animation blew me away. If not for Primacron, it would have been flawless!

okay this is off the top of my head, without too much consideration:

1.Divide and Conquer - Probably my favorite, vivid memories of the kickass battle in the rain and the showdown at the end! amazing

2.Roll For It - Prowl and Bluestreak duking it out with the cons in the hangar and at the end everyone rolling out of primes trailer and decimating that laboratory. Swideswipe and Sunstreaker with their jet packs and brawn hoisting prime at starscream. awesome

3.S.O.S. Dinbots - First episode I ever saw, loved dinosaurs and because of that i was shown this and got into transformers. The end is pretty cool too.

I'm sure there's many other great quality eps from season one, but these episodes along with fire in the sky and transport to oblivion were the only tf eps i ever had for a while growing up in the nineties and hardly ever seeing G2 or S3 playing on sci-fi. I think these episodes are totally rewatchable compared to most other episodes of transformers, have the most nostalgia for me and it just feels like theres so much more going on in 22 minutes than any other episodes.

edit: i thought the name of my favorite was countdown to extinction but it is divide and conquer

    1. Heavy Metal War- First battle between Constructicons and Dinobots
    2. Starscream's Brigade- Starscream's first large-scale mutiny, intro of Combaticons
    3. Starscream's Ghost- Starscream being Starscream

They're just fun to watch, not incredibly important to the overall story.

Hoist Goes to Hollywood - a funny episode that also features Megatron as quite a badass when interacting with Starscream.

Webworld - Galvatron goes nuts, it's great.

The Burden Hardest to Bear - Easily, IMO, the best G1 TF ever.

    1. The episode where Grimlock, Slag, and Sludge are created.
    2. The episode where Snarl, and Swoop are created.
    3. Heavy Metal War Dinobots vs Devestator

You can guess who my favorite subgroup are.

Honorable mention: the first appearance of Carly.

I want to pick my epsisodes now, but I'd like to know: Do I need to keep my choices down to ONE particular episode, or can it be a multi-parter episode?

    In no particular order:

The Golden Lagoon - This episode is one of the few in G1 that really ties the beginning and the ending together in a nice-tidy package that makes you go, WHOAH! From Beachcomber finding the lagoon and all the natural surroundings to the ending where he's just sitting there with this look of horror, taking in the devastation, and saying, "We won," in a way that makes it obvious that he's not at all sure about it. I so want to do a diorama of that final scene, smoked trees and earth, and a single bot looking forlornly about him. So serious for a kids show.

I don't remember the name, but the one where Seaspray falls in love with that girl and turns himself human. That was very, very cool and appealed to me on some level I still can't explain. Not the best story, but just something about the way it played really tugged at my heart strings. And still does, to this day.

Cosmic Rust - Seeing the various bots get rusted just screamed bad horror flick to me, and I love bad horror flicks. Still one of my favorites just for the visuals. Especially during the Megatron scene.

    For me it will be...

    1. City of Steel=The drawing and the color was prefect and the story was will done

    2. Autobot Run=Sunstreaker was a crack up in this one with his body and his ego. Along with what Trailbreaker and Ironhide was tell Sunstreaker. Also you see what Brawn dose to Huffer.

    3. Human= Were Corba Commander shows up and you see Springer, Ultra Magnus and the other 2 in human form.

    1. Flight or Flee - I don't know why I liked this episode. Being a writer myself, I think that there is huge possibilities for this story. I actually have an idea in regards to this. I thought it was a decent episode though it could have been much better.

    2. A Plague of Insecticons - The Insecticons are cool. They should have had more episodes with them in it. ^_^

    3. War of the Dinobots - Dinobots = Cool. LOL
