"We now have had confirmation of loss of signal from Apollo 11. Apollo 11 is on the far side of the moon." are Cronkite's exact words in the trailer.

Either it's a hole in the conspiracy (intentional for the film), or Bay is again assuming his audience is ignorant of simple facts, kind of like how Egypt doesn't share a border with Jordan, as it apparently does in ROTF.

Like I said: That happened BEFORE the lunar landing, when the LEM/Command Module made their first orbit around the far side of the moon.

    Speculation 1 on 1

Hmm funny how i was boo-ed away after my first post about this trailer and now, while reading the rest of the tread a lot of people do seem to think amongst the line i mentioned.
I still think its optimus himself in the sands there. And i definately am sure mister golden rod is Alpha trion. I think in the movie verse he will be a prime, and Optimusses direct ansestor. And if some wanna call him sentinel Prime, fine by me. ( i am an old transformers fan, so recent comic book characters just dont ring bells with me.)
    As for other theories:
A big No against the last autobot mentioning. the comic books from marvel were as good as dead when they came up with him. Apart from a coloursceme there is no logical resemblence. And if we wanna start linking this to unicron, then i think we are realy on a wild track. Think about it. Every story arc involving unicron has been huge.. If you wanna do a planet eating godlike being any justice he has to be the spill of the movie or there needs to be a build up to him over other movies. Now we already know tf3 will feature shockwave, some business about humans using tranformer technology, the space race etc.. etc.. and you wanna fit in unicron with all that as well?? If they put that much plot in, things will become as messy as spiderman3 or x-men3. You simply cant put that much story in here. Pitting Shockwave against alpa trion is about as far as i think this story should go.
Now I know theres a lot of nagging going on that bay has his own movieverse and this isnt G1, but from my point of view, so far.. almost all character inspiration as well as the story arc inspiration comes from G1 and the pre unicron ( season4) era. Bay brought a more prominent role in with regards to the military and the Primes. But realy not much beyond that. ( except for the Fallen... And we ve seen how that turned out.
No seriously, the writers for this movie have had their eye on the cartoon series for as fart as you could make things plausible on the big screen. I therefore think we are indeed looking at a re telling of the spaceship battle ( between the arc and nemesis) and it will be tied in with Cybertron itself in this movie.. I am thinking of a plot linking Cybertron in more with earth, but not as far and deep as deling in Unicron mythology..

I haven't been keeping up with all the new info on this movie and this question is unrelated to the thread, but can anyone tell me if we are going to see Hot Rod/Rodimus in this new movie?

I think for Bay not to include such an important character would be a sin. It is bad enough that other cartoons and games do not include him more often but yet when there are newer figures of him they usually sell well so he is popular. I would also hope to see Ultra Magnus, Kup, and some of the Decepticon characters that were given life by Unicron in the G1 cartoon.

Speaking of which... another idea about the character at the end of this teaser trailer could possibly be...Galvatron. I could see Bay making him a different character all together from Megatron for movie's sake. I thought Spider-Man 3 would have done the same thing by making Harry Osbourne's character Hob Goblin to save time but to still add name recognition, but that would have made too much sense so instead we got a guy with a paintball mask on a flying snowboard. I hate when movies disappoint me. Oh Well...

    comparison......

Hmmm, interesting trailer. Movie looks cool. The robot is either silverbolt, alpha Trion, Unicron, or possibly a Bay-esque version of Omega Supreme? (since its a ship on the moon)

    Lets compare......

    Alpha Trion

    or Gandolph from LOTR

I vote for Alpha Trion. The Beard looks similar plus the head has the 2 "horn-like" spikes.

I see why people think that it's Optimus' head in the sand. But despite the size difference, there's another aspect: Prime didn't gain his "ear antenna" until he assumed his Earth mode... his protoform didn't have them (as seen in TF1).

I think that the point of this trailer was to confirm that this installment actually has a discernible, planned-out plot. When I think back to the ROTF trailers, I still remember thinking that they all looked very cool, but you couldn't glean any storyline from them. Little did I know that that would actually pretty accurately reflect the finished movie....

I have high hopes for this movie, though. And this trailer has bolstered my confidence it it. I guess I'm just a hopeless optimist.

Historically, yes. But that's not the chronology of this trailer. Here they are trying to say they lost contact while the astronauts were literally on the far side of the moon.

Think you're looking into this way too much!

Wait til it comes out, then pick it to pieces for being wrong.

I see why people are saying its Primes head in the moon dust. Because you're looking at it as if the head is (right to left) top to bottom. Now look at it the other way around.

That's why I say its Bumblebee or somebody very similar. There's no way it's prime as it's way too small.

I was thinking it'd be cool if it was Nova Prime. :)

Which wouldn't make sense either. None of the main Autobots were dead in '69. That's probably just some protoform.

My vote on the gold guy is either Sentinel Prime (most likely) or Silverbolt (second most likely)...

ok was at a store today called Ollie's (Bargin outlet) picked up some comic collections and one called Transformers Matrix Quest had this as the intro.
"the conflict raged for countless millennia, Cybertron shook under the devastating Decepticon assault and the universe held it's breath. Then in an audacious attempt to tip the balance of power. The Ark-a giant spacecraft- was launched. On board were Optimus Prime and a hnd picked crew of autobots. their mission to secure a supply of energon. But Megatron was Ready. waiting. The Ark was ambushed in deep space. and boarded by Decepticon warriors. To prevent the Ark from falling into Megatron's clutches Prime locked the giant ship on to a collision course with a nearby planet, where it crashed with devastating force. All aboard suffered a complete systems shutdown.
The Autobots and Decepticons awoke millions of years later, restored and recreated by the Ark's computer. Their secondary modes had been adapted to blend with what the computer assumed-logically were the local lifeforms. The war began anew-on Earth.

The head in the sand definitely has wing-like antennas in the side of its head that is definitely reminiscent of Optimus Prime. The golden transformers at the end looks awesome! Can't wait to see more of him... He has elderly looking features (with what looks to be facial hair) and the 2 spikes on his forehand reminds me of Alpha Trion. His shoulders are pretty pointy however and I can't help but think Vector Prime.

Who says those onboard this ship are dead? They're machines so it's impossibe to say. Deactivated, sure. Dead? Who knows?

I agree its most likely a protoform of an unidentified bot but it definitely isnt Optimus due to size. Plus it doesnt look right.

    Err... G1?

Well, to be honest, it looks like the thing is missing half of his face or something and still, Optimus wouldn't be logical at all. If that would be Optimus and he came back online, he would definitely go search for the gold/yellow bot, since he looks important. And if it turns out to be Sentinel Prime, then it's even less logical, because I believe Optimus never knew his father, right?
