Oh hay is dat sum Unicron Singularity?

Yeah. No. Nice try Hasbro, but you're going to do some hefty continuity cleanup if you want to get anyone who follows each series to honestly believe they're from the branch. They contradict each other way too much to even try and put the pieces together. If you did we're going for the same kind of quality G1 had in its continuity...

Oh, I intend to, but that doesn't mean that the "story nerd" in me accepts the awkward attempt to meld 2 totally different incarnations of the property.

Playing the "aloof and unpretentious fan" card here is misplaced. If those details were truly unimportant, Hasbro wouldn't be trying to weld together their fiction. I've always separated my enjoyment of the toys from the fiction, which explains why I have so many movie toys, even though, as a GeeWunner, I barely acknoweldge Bayformers' existence. I'm just saying it doesn't work, and Hasbro shouldn't even bother. It's disingenuous and only serves to make them appear out-of-touch.

Marketing bloat and blather only really hurts the relationship with the fans. Let's face it, the kids get it... they know that Animated is not Bayformers is not G1. They don't care, and they never even hear statements like this from Hasbro corporate. These types of declarations are only really followed by the fans, so why bother with the smokescreen? Why try to merge the continuities, when anyone with a brain can see through it?

Right. In fact, it's kind of interesting that High Moon, a non-Hasbro entity, has probably done the best job yet of re-imagining the G1 fiction in a coherent and holistic way, and I think that game has done a fantastic job of bringing new and old fans back into the larger fiction. Hasbro's missing the point, if they're just trying to take all that good work, and unnaturally glue it to their next product line. That's PR and marketing directors at work, not writers.

    ARE YOU F'n KIDDING ME?

HASBRO, you are so full of crap that my dead grandma can smell it.

Sorry HASBRO- you have taken a huge credibility hit in my book, maybe even be HASB-EEN.

    You new show is fine.
    Your toys are good.
Your marketing is out of its mind.

    FAIL, HASBeen... fail.

And not just Hasbro, but anyone who regurgitates your bovine excrement as well.

When WFC was announced didn't Hasbro say it was the prequel to Generation One? This seems odd because I remember reading that Exodus has plot holes. Then again it's just like Hasbro saying the Cybertron cartoon is a followup to Energon and Armada series when it was a stand-alone series in Japan.

Hasbro has lost their mind in trying to get their marketing to coincide with the overall story of Prime, WfC and Exodus.

It's just not working and their credibility to handle THEIR OWN franchise is making me nauseous.

I'm actually fine with them being one continuity. I truly welcome it and embrace it. The fact that people act like their dog just got thrown off the side of a cruise ship is just an added bonus.

I love when people try to come up with nickname for Hasbro to sound smart. It´s highly amusing, "HASbeen"? Really? Hint: it does not makes you sound smart or anything.

That said, there´s too many changes for the to in the same continuity. I´m not even talking about cosmetic changes or anything. Plot holes too large to ignore (Megatron and Optimus fighting side by side). Also, Takara tried to blend the movies and Animated, do we take their word for granted? No.

No, that was the developers who said it would lead right into the G1 cartoon (which it doesn't)

Hasbro said that WFC was the basis for future fiction, i.e. the prequel to Prime.

Cool so the show I am watching is in fact G1 but all the other characters are dead?

Perhaps it takes place after the end of the 1980s show and they were all killed in the hate plague.

That came from one single early magazine coverage. The notion was never revisited by Takara.

I wonder if WFC2 will be spent trying to bridge the gap. I'm still trying to gadge whether I care about this. It would be nice for the two to fit together, but they don't seem to. Apart from the grievances that can be pointed out conscerning individual characters, the feel of it just seems different. We're back to "the small number of guys we can afford to animate" as opposed to the feeling of the "global war you are only seeing one part of" sense you get in WFC. Where did the rest of those guys go? Lost among the stars, I guess.
