Why wasn't there just a swappable face plate on the first version? Or maybe a version w/o the guns? Kinda like the TFCon "Exclusive" DIA Commander fiasco...

So you people are the reason why this figure went from shelfwarmer, to shelfwarming the clearance isle, to outrageous ebay prices. What a fascinating process. No mater how many new heads or weapons you give it, this mold looks nothing like Hardhead, so I just don't see the appeal. Sure, the set is nice, but when the time comes that these third party kits drive up the price on a figure that I actually want, I'm gonna be pissed.

The trick is to buy the figures you want when they come out. Not wait til they're off the shelves months later and the third parties are making things for them.

Now if it were a figure you normally wouldn't buy that an upgrade kit makes you want and THAT figure isn't on the shelf... That's a different story.

Damn it.. I just can't justify spending that much for a second head. This is the one I really want, too.. >.<

You can blame headrobots. but its your fault for missing the boat. It is just a fact of economics. People passed up on him, just like you did. no sense in complaining. suck it up. Or go to a Ross and pick one up for $15 if you are lucky.

How can you say "it doesnt look like Hardhead?" he's green and has guns.

The original stock Universe Hardhead does not look like hardhead. But with the Headrobots upgrade kit, it certainly does look like hardhead.

So far there is only one true hardhead. G1. which I assume the guns and head were designed after. To give the Universe figure a g1 look and feel.

They can only do so much with what hasbro gave us. Repaint of Onslaught.

Dont blame Headrobots for fixing a crap figure. Blame Hasbro for being lazy and unimaginative.

Why do we have to blame anyone? Universe Hardhead is a great figure in it's own right. The Hot Head just makes it even better. No real mystery here.

Does anybody use this for their G1 figure? It's funny how pissed people are that they can't find the Onslaught repaint when it works perfectly well on the G1 figure!

This is pure greatness right there.
I liked the original a lot, but this one is even better, so it's preordered.
I'll be more than happy to have both, one toy and one comic version.

    Thanks Headrobots!

What reaction did you expect from someone with my username? I'm an asshole, I don't like things. I feed off the power of roll eyes, sir.

That's all well and good NOW, but couldn't these companies start making these upgrade kits as soon as a redeco is shown? They can base design off the original release of the mold and have it about ready by the time the redeco hits shelves, (aside of color matching and then production, which they may even start getting stolen samples to get production done even sooner) driving scalpers into a frenzy and making it impossible to find a brand new figure anywhere but ebay for three times the price.

You misunderstand, I never wanted Hardhead, that's why I passed him up. The only reason I looked into this is because my brother told me he was going for a premium on ebay and I wanted to know the reason why.

Also, green with guns does not a Hardhead make. There's nothing about the design of that mold that fits Hardhead. The coloration schematic doesn't fit that well either. It just wasn't a good mold choice for the character. It takes a lot more than just a new head.

I have zero interest in Hardhead or the upgrade, but like I said earlier, I just wanted to know the reason why he went from the clearance isle to being so pricey so fast. There were two of these sitting in the clearance isle at Walmart about a month ago, that's a pretty quick turnaround. I love the mold, one of my favorites, but not as this character. I'm also not a fan of third party upgrades. I bit once, and got bit in the ass.

Agreed. I don't see how repainting the mold into Hardhead automatically makes the figure crap. The mold is still great and the vehicle mode fits HH to a tee.

Hasbro wasn't being lazy and unimaginative, they were being smart when trying to get the most out of a mold.
