ok i'm having a little debate over at tv nihon, as i said Flame Convoy kinda reminds me of G1 Grimlock, or at least is the Gf equivalent of grimlocks character.

i havnt watched any cybertron, so i can't comment regarding that. but as far as galaxy force goes, he could be. For a start hes the leader of the beast tf's, grimlock was the leader of the dinobots, who i seem to recall where the first animal type tf's in g1, if you dont count ravage i guess.

they are both also kind of anti-heroes, dont like to take orders, like fighting, and they are both proud.

also the dude that does flame convoy's voice kinda reminds me of grimock, even though he is speaking japanese.

i might have got some stuff wrong here, but anyways, discuss!

 

Dayumn, you're right. Never even noticed it. At least Flame Convoy's smarter then Scourge.  

 

I can agree with that, and am 100% ok with it, too. I hafta admit, I love flame convoy's voice too, even though I don't understand it. the dinobots, if anyone, are deserving of some more homages.

 

this is a better response than i got from the tvnihon crowd! they just called me stupid and that there is no similarity whatsoever.

 

Well if the homages come out like energon Grimlock and swoop I would perfer less homages. If thye cannot do it right, they shouldn't do it have assed.

 

i agree with that one. energon grimlock was sub-par. what we need is a straight out re-issue or some decent homages in this or the next line.

 

I mentioned it in the Galaxy Force Anime Discussion Thread when I first saw Flame Convoy... So yeah, he does remind me a lot of Grimlock's behavior... And voice too...

I never saw his intentions for joining megatron as being that bad. it seemed g1-ish that he sided with the one who was strongest, in his eyes, which was the true definition of who should be the leader. also very much like dinobot from bw.

 

For your additional informations the Flame Convoy VA (Norio Wakamoto) was also doing DBZ Cell’s voice. I understand that he has a lot of fans in Japan.

For Master Megatron‘s VA (Jouji Nakata), he voiced the Hellsing Alucard.

GF is very cool isn’t it?

 

hmmm, I stand corrected. well then, it seems like at the least flame convoy acts more like bw's dinobot. maybe it's best I don't watch those g1 dvd's again

 

ah, forgive my bad memory.

i remember in the first few episodes of gf, megatron was a bit of a "sweet talker" when it came to meeting new characters. he almost convinced nitro convoy to join him, and he pretty much convinced vector prime to hand over the map at the beginning, aside from using a little force as well  

so i guess he kinda used his charm to turn FC into a destron at the beginning, so you could compare that to a hypno ray? i dunno! my head asplode!

 

Personally, and this is all my own opinion, Flame Convoy is something of a Dinobot type character. Filled with doubt over what his true alliegence is meant to be, but always acting out of a kind of honour. If anything, Flame is something of an anti-Dinobot, since he reverses some of Dinobot's main characteristics.

 

I think he's a bit more like the Beast Wars Dinobot

I definately don't think so. They may both rely on their extreme strength, but FC is quite a bit wiser then Grim, and also fights for completely different reasons.

 

I could totally seem them as the same dude. flame convoy is just a bit smarter and i dont think grim would run from lady

 

I agree that there are more similarities with Dinobot, but Scourge is a bit more twisted. Dinobot changed his allegiances because of his values, his honor. His inner conflict came from the friction of choosing sides, but he was rarely in doubt of what he thought was right. Scourge seems to have lost his principles to keep his power (as of the most recent Cybertron episode, anyway - I have no idea what's going on in GF).
