I'm not sure if I could make this one or not, but I do agree that you need to meet up with us! :)

Also, guys, I'll simply reiterate again that if any of you want to make plans for the group, feel free to just discuss it among yourselves. Basically, I just try to keep the discussion going. Since I work 3rd shift, it's hard for me to make it out anyways, since I'm pretty much just waiting for hours until we meet . . . .

    Plans for the group?

How about you guys visit me in Fayetteville for the one weekend I have available? Oh, that's this Saturday already!

After that, it's back to Texas for me. Hope I can meet up with you guys!

Well, my one weekend (more like a day starting afternoon Saturday) has come and gone. Wished I could have been more flexible to meet up with the rest of you guys, but the Army has me first with the training event for which that I've been here. I'll be flying out next weekend already.

Hope to seen ya'll next time I'm in town. Kinda planning to drive out this way in January. We''l see as I have a deployment upcoming and that takes me away for a year.

    Stay cool guys!

Hopefully, we can do something as a larger group when that time comes.

It was great spending the weekend with you, bro :thumb

I would like to meet with some of you guys again.

Also, a co-worker has a small amount (maybe a dozen or so) of TFs that were her nephew's. Despite having many of the instruction sheets for them he didn't want to put them "back together" as my co-worker phrased it.

She knew I love TFs so she asked me to fix them up as much as possible (most of them are missing an accessory or two), and gave me first choice of the lot.

It's mainly Unicron Trilogy stuff with a tiny bit of 07 movie figures mixed in (and some SW Crossovers). If any of you have any desire to get any of that let me know and I'll let you know if she has what you're looking for. Then I could get you the stuff at a potential meetup.

I got #458 and 459 at Walmart yesterday, and strongly considering #460 to be the Predaking reissue and retiring lol.

The toy show in November might be good. I haven't been with y'all lately due to some personal snags. Bryce is chomping at the bit to hang out.

kP, it's good to see you around here again, bud! I hope everything works out for you :)

I have a few things that I've already discussed with some individual members but felt compelled to share in this thread. Here we go:

First of all, I work a 3rd shift job. While it has its advantages, one of the downsides is that I'm mostly on a completely different schedule than you guys. What that means for me is that every meetup I've been able to attend (except for the first handful), I've had to totally change my schedule just to make it. Each time it's gotten harder and harder for me. I'm certainly not to the point where I'm 100% unable to ever meet up with you guys, though! What that does mean is that my perfect attendance record may be broken at some point!

Anyways, for this thread and our meet-ups, I don't really see any of the above changing things a whole lot (or at least I hope not!). Basically (just as before), everyone who wants to go just needs to come to a consensus on the specifics of the meet-ups.

Our group is our group. NC is a looong state. While I'm unable to make an Asheville trip, that's certainly not prohibitive for a meet-up to be there. Also, even though I'm more in the Raleigh area, I don't expect a meetup to be right in my back yard either. Frankly, the group simply needs to do what the group wants to do.

I also feel that if one is interested in ever meeting up, they're either using this thread (or one like it) to coordinate that effort or the social group. The sightings thread is strictly for Transformers sightings. The social group was created to help keep that sightings thread clean from chatter not specifically relating to sightings. It was also created to allow a place for chatter :)  The social group nor the meets are created to promote some kind of niche or anything.

Anyways, I'm simply reporting some things on my end. I'm more than happy to help with the coordination (updating the threads, helping keep the discussion going, throw out suggestions, etc.), but it's likely my actual attendance may see to slow down. It's totally nothing personal, as I actually lament having to make such a post here.

November is difficult for me due to Thanksgiving. December is difficult due to Christmas. Neither holiday do I get to have vacation during our culturally accepted dates, so I just have to do what I have to do for our families.

Generally speaking, just some things to continually consider:

    • Weekdays rarely work for most people due to work.
    • Sundays don't work well due to some attending religious observances.
    • Saturdays tend to work the best in light of the first two points above.
    • If the group meets to have a meal, the restaurants who accommodate a large group without a RSVP work the best.
    • In light of the point regarding the restaurant, most tend to like a cheaper meal, either fast food or a lower priced, sit down restaurant.
    • Toy hunts are fun and can easily accommodate a larger group.
    • Toy hunts can be boring and monotonous unless there are toys out.
    • If the toys out are limited, there's a mad dash to the toy isle. That can be fun, but can be difficult when persons are inconsiderate.
    • Toy shows are fun and can accommodate a larger group as well.
    • The meet-ups certainly have a lot of room to expand! We once discussed having a customs/kitbash class. I'd love to host this, especially since several in our group are into kitbashing or would be interested in learning some basics. I'm sure Tuner Mudflap could help too! Also, the Radicons we have within our group are certainly encouraged to open up this discussion more and plan! Saving me work would be awesome too! :)
    • Even though some may think so, the consensus has always been that all that is required to be a part of the group is show up!
    • None of this is set in stone - this is just me throwing out suggestions and things I've observed and/or reflected upon.

Anyways, I hope all of the above helps! :)  What do some of you guys think about anything I've discussed above?

I'd love to meet up and do a hunt with fellow NC bot fiends, but I am pretty new to the area and am fairly good at getting around W-S and Lexington. My wife is my navigator for outside travel:dunce  Plus I could go for a good swap meet to make some room. Small house big land kinda issues.

Well, I'd just like to throw out here too that no one has to wait for a "big" meet up to hang out either. I love hanging out with people when I can. My schedule may be screwy, but just pm me or call me and we can hang :)

Well I'm at the crossroad. Right between W-S , Lexington , Clemmons and Welcome.

If we give general locations we could figure who would be easy to meet up with and not have to juggle schedules too much. And my wife will let me have a play date :D

    This is a good idea.

I would like to make a generalized comment that some of us have been willing to travel and have done so, only to see a smaller turnout. For those of who have been willing to travel, we like to have meet-ups in our backyard too. Over the past few years here, it just seems like there have been a few who will only attend if the meet-up location is 5 minutes from their house.

Hey, I'd always be up for another meetup. My free time is nearly... infinite.

Although very sadly... because of a lack of a real job beyond working in a haunted house, I'm going to have to practically give up collecting and sell a bunch of stuff. Probably the worst possible time for it too, as this is one of the best times to collect Transformers with all the amazing stuff coming out.

Hi guys. I haven't been hard & heavy into transformers for a while. My collection is currently packed up because our house is on the market, so they're kinda 'out of sight, out of mind' and I end up not doing much TF stuff (plus I play in a couple bands, have a wife and kid, church commitment and a newish interest in firearms). So my hobbies get juggled a lot.

Anyways, have any of you guys heard about the NC ComicCon coming up in a few weeks?

Welcome to the North Carolina Comicon (NC Comicon)

I have no idea how big it will be, or if there will be much Transformers stuff there, but it might present a convenient place for a meetup w/ like-minded folks. A one day pass is $5, not bad.

Hopefully it will be a hit and we'll have more stuff like this going on in the area. This past month Raleigh had a pretty nice guitar show that I'm hoping was successful and will return.

Anyways, my apologies if the comic con thing has been brought up before. I just happened to hear about it from a coworker last week.

I'm not sure about the con. It's about 2 hours away which in itself not too much an issue but it is on my wedding anniversary.
