The comedy relief was broken up by humping dogs and killer toasters. And they're going to ramp it up. I love this franchise.
yes, honestly. I was just making a point about how Ba fits into current u.s. society as a whole. yes, I'm sure some of bay's best friends are black. that doesn't absolve him from pedaling racist minstrel humor. Again, as I said, I don't think he is an outright racist, just an overpriveledged a-hole who does not realize that racist stuff is racist. I still expect tyrese to be all bravado and $hit talking and yelling, but not calm and intelligent. maybe I am completely wrong, but I still say that Bay is very ready to pile up more of the exact things I am complaining about.
Even though you admittedly didn't see one of the movies, yet outspokenly speak against it and things done in it? It does make your opinions ring a little more hollow. Being a racist USUALLY carries some form of malice. I would hardly call Skids and Mudflap minstrels. There are no blatant references to any "black" stereotypes, just a loose use of what some consider "black" speech patterns (even tho I know white and oriental guys that speak the same way and its how they always talk). Skids + Mudflap = lowbrow comedy, not racism. It also amazes me that most of the people talking about this racism aren't even part of the group the "should" be offended.
My only hope is that the master copy of the movie gets corrupted and all the lame comedy gets destroyed at this point. The comedy was ok in the first one because your really didnt see it coming but even then it wasnt that great it was just more like embarrassing. You know a train wreck you cant but help watch. I wonder if he actually be more comedically offensive this time round.
Skip the comedy! more giant robots beating the holy smack out of each other! I want mass destruction from my big stupid summer action movies, not fart jokes. That's what Kevin Smith is for.
And I think that you're digging for racist things in material that isn't racist at all, mainly because you don't care for the director's films... I'm Black, and I'm not offended by any of Michael Bay's work. And, honestly, I've yet to encounter any other Black people who are, either. As Ceasar121 said, when the people who should be offended aren't offended, then chances are, the material in question probably wasn't all that offensive to begin with.
My college had a screening of the film last year at the student center. The black folks laughed the hardest. Make of that what you will regarding the insensitivity of the material.

If the comedy is clever and witty (like the kind Ratchet is just waiting to provide) and/or involves the Autobots teasing Simmons, I'm all for it. Otherwise, this news makes me very, very uneasy.
