I went to ToysRus More Park Sydney Australia today and found some Takara Transformers Masterpiece Ghost Starscream. The price was $249 Aud, that is crazy considering that the Australian dollar is worth about equal to the American dollar now. My imported one only cost $150 Aud after shipping. Nice going TRU, nice way to gouge customers.

    Great find, although expensive!

I bet this topic will soon be filled with dissappointed American fans, though, who, after reading the thread title, think it is out in the US...:lol

Yeah. You should have the thread title renamed "Ghost Starscream at Australia retail ToysRus" or something like that.

I considered that but you know America is not the centre of the universe. Would American posters title their thread specifying at US retail.

Toysrus is an American company so it may well be there already.

So let me get this straight. According to your post, since TRU is an American company, everything they sell outside North American will be available here? So I can get the same stuff from a TRU in Hong Kong or Tokyo at any TRU in the US or Canada?

You're going to boycott Australian TRUs? Why?

The UltaMagnus and Buster Prime Takara imports to Australia were in Target and Kmart respectively. These two companies are both owned by Coles (Westfarmers) here in Australia.

This is different because it is Toysrus. I have not known TRU to sell something here that is not available in the US.

While I don't neccesarily disagree with that statement, in the end TFW (and most big TF sites) are mainly geared towards the United States, since that's where most of the 'action' happens - it's only logical.

Most of the news is US news, then some Japanese news because of Takara/Tomy releases, then a bit of UK news..but I'm pretty sure nobody would give a damn if I get the first sighting in my little country in Europe.

It's only a minor observation that the thread title is misleading..I couldn't care less - but don't tell me it's not true :D

I don't think this means it will show up in American TRU stores though. Australia is a different market, and close to Japan - it's highly possible the AUS TRU plans are much different from the American TRU. :)

All I'm saying is avoid buying it at that mark-up price. Wouldn't you rather buy the MP Rodimus at that price?

I had carried it to the checkout because I thought it would be around $100. It wouldn't hurt to have a misb copy, but when it came up as $249 I just said no thanks. The only person who got something was my daughter - she got a my little pony baby.

This is an American Transformers message board/website, though.

It would be logical to assume that on an American message board with majority North American members, when somebody mentions a retail outlet without mentioning what nation it's in, it would be safe to say they are referring to the United States or Canada.

We also got MP-4 Convoy back in 2008 or 2009 (I forget), and the Buster Prime/Jetfire pack earlier this year.

    I think he's just joking.

Depends on whether it's the first sighting of something not released anywhere else yet. In that case, you could expect a lot of lame stereotypical "Netherlands" jokes. ;)

this is not new. Well ghost MP starscream is, but TRU selling imports at ridiculous prices is common. Back in eary 2000 or so, TRU was selling Perfect Grade Gundam kits. Their prices were really inflated. I think they were something like $100 above japanese retail.

Yes, we usually do, actually. But it's ok. Australian nationalism is good for a morning :lol .

(In b4 "it's not morning in Austrailia.")
