The customer who wanted this bad boy only had one request: No goatee. Am I only one who liked the Goatee??? Anywho, an almost by the numbers repaint of the Challenge at Cybertron Classics Rodimus into the ever popular (and ever expensive) Botcon Shattered Glass Rodimus. I took a few liberties. There is a thin line of silver in the front acting as a bumper. I painted the headlight as well as brake lights. The "window" in the front is a very dirty red and instead of alternating between light grey and silver I stuck with silver. The flaming missile was also painted a subtle gradient from a Burnt Orange to a Warm Red. More pics HERE. Alt mode pics will be up tomorrow. Thanks for looking and Enjoy! Respect my gangsta, fool!!
Nice one! I Just checked ebay and one of these seems to be going for over $500 so crazy. I like the goatee btw
The details on this are great and precise! The only thing I could suggest is using some really fine grit on the window areas to remove some of the textured bumpiness from the base coat and then repainting to get a glass smooth surface. Maybe a bit of a gradient paint app on the flame coming out of the gun could give it a bit more oomph too. Overall this is excellent! Did you use the Krylon BBQ & Stove paint as a base? I am anti-goatee btw
Sorry. Didn't adjust the lighting after I took pics of Galvy. Right? Truly a situation where getting custom is cheaper than the real thing, huh? I use Krylon Camo Flat Black normally, but a lot of the texturing can be attributed to the heat here in AZ. Thanks for the feedback, bro. Long live the Goatee, man! He's like a Sinbad-swashbuckling Rodimus...or something.
I like this, and the goatee! I agree about the glass not being smooth, but that is not always easy in humidity!
