I definitely gotta go with RiD, BM comes in a close second.

I don't remember RID toys having any Japanese writing on the actual packaging, except for when seen in product photos; Magmatron actually has Japanese writing on the packaging itself. Also, Magmatron was released in 2000, at the tail end of BM; RID Prowl & Optimus Prime were released in 2001 (Car Robots was 2000, RID was the following year). So either way, he would still have been the first. ;)

I think the Unicron Trilogy needs new toys. It's that one TF series that seems to go forgotten most of the time when it comes to homages in fiction/toys, and since it's what brought me in to the fandom, I would like to see some more love shown towards it.

Basically, I'm saying I want a new Armada Prime. :lol

I had to go with Beast Machines. The series took a huge risk going in the direction that it did, and while the end results may not have been the best, I think the team did a really good job. Characters got some real growth into behaviors that hadn't been shown in the history of Transformers, I especially liked Optimus becoming a religious zealot and his team doubting him because of it. I also loved the fact that for the most part of the series, Megatron was victorious! The good guys had initially lost and had to dig their way out of defeat. How cool is that?

The series also looked amazing. Mainframe did a fantastic job with their models and animation, and I think it's only being met now with Prime. No series has come close to the production quality of this show.

I didn't collect the toys much at all then, but I do remember the line being about 50-50 with good molds. I do wish we had gotten more toys faithful to the cartoon (and a Botanica toy!).

Besides these reasons, though, this series wins out because I hated RiD and it's inane story. If giving that series some more love included rewriting the entire thing, then yeah I might have given it my vote. But as long as you've got goofy Predacons and a completely ineffectual Megatron fighting Autobots with crushes on regular cars that talk to a tiny holographic girl, Hasbro can keep that locked away.

    Armada, Energon, Cybertron....
    Armada wasn't bad at all.
Cybertron wasn't bad at all either!
Energon was the one that made the Trilogy look bad... But there were a couple of good episodes!

If I had a second choice.... RID would be it.
I don't see any of the Japanese series up there also...
Victory would actually be my first pick.... If it was in the poll.

I love Cybertron and Armada's really good but yeah Energon ruins a trilogy just like ROTF.

I think insted of Machine Wars and Alternators they should of split the trilogy, I think the polls would be less biased.

Boo, Beast Machines. It was a terrible show that took the wonderful characters from Beast Wars and mutilated them with a gigantic Energon meat cleaver. And honestly, despite whatever technological advances Mainframe claimed to have made for BM, I really don't think the animation was a step up from Beast Wars. The water, even if it's techno-organic-babble Cybertronian water, looked like Ninja Turtle ooze. At least the water in Beast Wars tried to look like something the average viewer could accept as water. The movements and shadow effects may have been better, but overall I thought Beast Wars did a better job of creating realistic scenes.

I guess I preferred the hard science of Beast Wars and other Transformers shows as opposed to the underlying "maybe you should join a religion, you ignorant atheist" message from Beast Machines.

Good Call! Robots in Disguise was also the series which started Universe/Classics/Generations theme of thinking where anything can be added to the line it sure brought me back to Transformers from the moment I first saw the Optimus Prime design - and was blown away! (I still have trouble decided what mode to display him in, theyre all so good!) to the moment I bought Megatron in a Woolworths in the UK!

Great Winner! Let's see an updated Scourge with a big pink sword please! Or let's be honest.... FORTRESS MAXIMUS!

*Energon seems to have got bad vibes in that wrap up, many of the Energon Decepticon toys are awesome!

    Stuff 'Robots in Disguise'!
What people want is more Transformers Animated and you know it.

Why else would it have been left off the list?

You want a true gauge of what fans want do a poll of Animated vs RID

Beast Machines by far. The show edges out BW just slightly only because Jetstorm is probably one of my all time characters ever Transformers or otherwise. It really pains me to listen and read all the hate it still gets from a lot of fans. Sure I can understand some of it, especially as its suppose to follow up on BW, but taken on its own its in my opinion the darkest, best written, and most interesting TF show produced. Would also dare to say the animation holds up a heck of a lot better then BW as well. They just pushed a TF show were no other had or has gone before and its unfortunate we don't see shows like this anymore (and in terms of Western animation in general). Not to mention the toys have a quirkiness I can't help but love.

But yeah for me BM needs more love and I hope people give it a second chance going into it with a more open mind. And no offense to all the RiD fans out there but that show killed my enthusiasm for Transformers show wise from which I never recovered. Unfortunatly I really dislike all the Japanese TF shows aside from Masterforce and its to bad Hasbro went that route for so long. Just to cap this off I would have to add my love for Masterforce as well, if you want a well plotted Japanese TF show with some great characters that isn't goofy and silly I highly recommend checking it out.

From a toys perspective not show wise, RID gave fans Brave Maximus... love the color scheme on him. I've been saying that IMO he has the best colors out of all the Maximus'. And love the God Fire Convoy set, MIB to this day!

How in the world did I miss this thread? Well, voting's done, and RiD/CR is the clear and rightful winner, but I want to chime in anyway.

Robots in Disguise a.k.a. Car Robots absolutely deserves this win. It was a victim of its time, being used as filler to kill time between the end of BM and the start of Armada, but in at least one respect it was also the hero of its time. See, I remember when BM had ended. It had been 2+ long years of almost constant hate. Everybody hated BM back then (or at least it seemed like it) and I was all but ready to leave the TF fandom entirely due to the constant negativity and pessimism.

Then along comes Car Robots, this new show from Japan. It's got Autobots and Decepticons again (Cybertrons and Destrons), it's cel animated, it's bright and colorful, it's silly and charming, the vehicles were realistic, the transformations were complex and benefited from all the innovations of the beast era. But most importantly, there was a very big, very positive buzz about it.
People were having fun again. Conversations were vibrant and energetic. No more of this, "BM ruined my life," nonsense. Now it was, "I can't wait for the new episode!" CR/RiD pulled the Transformers fandom out of the dark ages and made it a fun hobby again. I still treasure my SkyByte, Scourge, and Rail Racer toys as some of the best pieces in my collection, not just because they're excellent toys, but because I really loved the characters; something I can't really say for anyone in the Unicron Trilogy.

I almost worry that when/if RiD is given more attention in an official capacity, either in comic book form or whatever, that someone will try to make it too serious and cut out the light-heartedness of the whole thing. I loves me some drama and all, but RiD was great at never taking itself too seriously.
