Mudflap has arrived! Well, at my doorstep anyway, thanks to BBTS. As most Cybertron toys do, Mudflap comes packaged in vehicle mode. And what a nice vehicle mode it is. Super realistic(ok, except for the missile launcher near the cab), nice size, and if I'm not mistaken, is actually in scale with Hot Shot and the other vehicle TF's in Cybertron. Transformation is fairly simple. His side panels in vehicle mode pull up, and then you turn him on his right side. You then pull apart and fold down his legs. Rotate the side panels 90 degrees, then reposition his arms. Next open his chest panel and unfold his head, then fold it back onto his shoulders/chest. One thing to remember: Both the cab cannon and the crane cab/boom are on hinges that can be moved so they don't restrict the arm articulation. *edit* After looking at the instructions, that's actually the first thing you do. Oops, my bad. Once in robot mode, he's even cooler. Articulation up the whazoo. I'm serious, damn near everything on this figure moves! While he doesn't have a handheld weapon, he has the cab cannon on his right arm and on his left is a sword, but the packaging calls it a saw blade. Whatever. Both gimmicks work in vehicle mode as well. A couple of things struck me odd about this figure now that I've had him for half a day or so. First, he doesn't have any electronics. Now, nowhere was it ever said that all Voyager class figures must have electronics, but since Armada, damn near all of them have. The only exception I can think of is GF Starscream, but that's because Takara gutted his electronics. If someone can correct me on this, have at it. The other thing that strikes me odd is that if he had a different paint job, he'd be an Autobot. Hell, he wouldn't even need a different paint job. Just swap his 'Con symbol for an Autobot sigil, and bam, instant Autobot. *SPOILERS* In Galaxy Force, Starscream convinces Demolishor/Mudflap to switch sides, therefore he's an Autobot who becomes a Decepticon. All in all, even w/o the electronics, Mudflap is awesome. Realistic alt mode, neat gimmicks, and good articulation make for a good figure. I paid over retail for him, but it was worth it. Definitely recommended.
Haven't really looked that closely, but let's just say that he doesn't have any apparent *lack* of paint apps that *other* figures are known for*glares at Cybertron Vector Prime*.
I think about the only non-electronic figures in the Mega/Voyager and larger sizes have been ones designed to split up and combine, like Tidal Wave and Wing Saber.
Doh, totally didn't think about Wing Saber. As for Tidal Wave, he was an Ultra. *shrugs* I guess I should leave out Grimlock and Swoop too, as well as Alpha Quintesson. Man, my earlier statement has more holes than Swiss cheese. *edit* I'm an rtard. Didn't see the "Mega/Voyager and LARGER". Yep, I'm dum. D U M.
I agree. Lights are fine IMO, but I can't stand sound gimmicks/electronics. I know that in the past the electronics have been used to justify a certain pricepoint. That's more of a reason that I could do without electronics in general. Too bad hasbro doesn't kick the prices down when a figure *doesn't* include electronics(that is when it's in a class with others that do). Oh well they're "toys" afterall
Don't have this guy yet, but just based on pics, my only problem is that he looks like an oversized version of one of the Constructicon-Maximus limbs....
He's totally not though. The transformation is ingenius, you wouldn't be able to figure it out by just looking at him and not fiddling. By the by, is it just me, or do this guy and Landmine/Guardshell have a similar sort of aesthetic to Blender and Moledive from Gigalonia/giant planet? Maybe it's just the construction vehicle factor... but there seems to be something else to it.
Got Mudflap yesterday at Walmart. I was pleasently suprised by it, especially the articulation. The transformation is pretty cool yet not too difficult at the same time. I don't mind the fact Mudflap is an enlarged version of Energon Duststorm/Wideload, since that was one of my favorite basic toys in Energon. The only downsides to it is the srping that thrusts out the little missile launcher isn't that strong and in robot mode, the launcher droops. Also the Energon saw won't stand straight up, and droops if used in vehicle mode. Overall Mudflap is pretty cool, I'd give it a B- Agreed. The less electronics in a TF line the better.
I got GF Demolishor on Tuesday and he's a fantastic mold. If you guys can get either version...do it. He rocks.
the only things they could've done better with this stud is to not let his damned launcher droop in 'bot mode... nothing else is loose though... he's wonderful!!! I mean, goodness, they even painted the hydraulic hoses on the side of the crane... makes it beautiful! Andy
I got him a couple of days ago too. He reminds me of Energon Barricade (in addition to Duststorm, natch!). I'm a bit of a sucker for unorthodox transformations like this one. He's definately one of the better Cybertron figures to date. I got Leobreaker at the same time, and Mudflap cheerfully whizzes all over him.

i generally hold off buying bots tht have kibble permanently attached to limbs, with the exception of sideways, while mudflap looks cool, whats up with the name? very undiginified IMHO.
But Mudflap's kibble is cool and functional! His right arm has the missile launcher and his left arm has a giant weapon attached, not unlike Thundercracker. When the blade is retracted, it's like a giant club he can beat somebody down with. When the blade is out, it's an energon sword! Seriously, his kibble is one of the draws, IMO. Even the way his side-wheels become mini-wings in his robot mode is really cool...
Gotta say hes one of the best figures I've seen in some time. Cant think of anything bad about him to say.
Indeed. Landmine, Mudflap, Quickmix and Menasor are the best construction vehicle designs I've seen in a long, long time.
Couple questions: I heard Mudflap's sword is the bendy type. How bad does it droop? Can it flip out, flush and straight with the crane part?
