At LONG last I am extremely proud and excited to present my form of the Constructicons and Devastator. Obvisously this is a project based on the Ptitvite / Frenzy_Rumble model with a few tweaks to make it my own. This set of figures is my first custom project and was a great way to learn and gain confidence to go off and do something unique next time around. Thanks go to Mike (Frenzy_Rumble) for not only his gift to the community but his willingness to help newcomers to the craft. Also thanks go to Sculpt-Bot for his casted Devastator heads (which will be seen later). Every other day I will show a new Constructicon all leading up to Devastator himself. (Bare with me as I am shooting the figures and prepping them for display here.) Since I am new to all this, please let me know what you guys think! -------------------------------------------------------------------- 2nd to last, Mixmaster: View the MIXMASTER set at my Flickr album: Mixmaster - Flickr MOLD USED: - Energon Barricade MODS: This mold was completely reworked doing the following: - New head cast was used - Head has magnet installed to attach to main body - Barricade cab detached and new die-cast cab installed. Die-cast cab has magnets attached to connect to main truck body - Custom cement mixing drum attached to back of Mixmaster - Added substantial steel weights to inside Mixmaster's legs. The new weights allow Mixmaster to stand with his heavy die-cast mixing drum attached to his back. Without the weights installed, he will topple over from weight. See an example picture below showing him balancing with the mixing drum. - Added numerous connector pegs into hidden spots to form Devastator's leg - Reworked legs to attach to body using large neo-shifter peg. This gives the leg connection a MUCH stronger connection for Devastator THOUGHTS: - Yes, I know this is a partsformer but I went with the mindset that I would rather have a nice looking figure and a functional leg for Devastator than a true transforming Mixmaster. If new molds come out in the future that fit this scale, it would be better to attempt them. For now though, I absolutely love the look of this mold as it gives Mixmaster an commanding, badass look.
Okay this is bothering me - do his legs detach when transformed into mixing truck mode or something? I keep trying to find them and I'm getting nowhere XD Awesome awesome customization though. I can see why the cab needs to detach in robot mode though - the original looked heavy enough. Combining a die-cast cab with a potentially heavy mixer would lead to falling backwards problems. Also a lot more problems with transformation.
@ deaculpa: That actually is a custom decal I made. @ nemetoad: Yep, his legs come off. This guy is a partsformer as I didn't really care about his transormation as I cared about his overall look and his ability to be extra stable when he combines into Devastator. All other Constructicons are transformers, this guy has mild transformation and a bit of partsforming. He is special. I actually weighted his thighs and leg cavity with small weights that are hidden. This keeps him solid and standing. The actual weights are painted and installed so you wouldn't even know they are there.
I'm not big on the white mixer but that's just a personal preference. He still looks awesome! Is that a water-slide decal that you custom made?!
