Thanks Autobotx23. Looking @ dlx Ironhide, I'm not seeing the parts I need that I thought were there... Hmmm I'm thinking some joints from Cybertron BB might do the trick for the doors mod.
Luck would have it that 2 candidates make the mod for the doors a reality. What is needed is a double pin joint that fits inside the car mode to connect the door to the yellow part that flips out with the front wheel. 2 figures can serve this purpose: dlx Sideswipe and Generations Bee. Their ankles/wheel feet have a wrap around feature around their wheels that uses the double pin joint approach. Unfortunately I trashed one of Bee's feet (RATS!!!) So I have to scrap Sideswipe. Cybertron Bee's ankle warmers take a lot of trimming down to fit in between the doors and his arm but here's two WIP pix.
WOW... That's a totally different direction from where I was going to go with the doors. .. Need to heal fast to work on this thing!! GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR lol
Not just yet! I scrapped the previous approach of attaching the doors to the front wheel parts, and am currently working on another approach. Thanks for checking!
Looks niiiice. I'll definitely be wanting to paint the blaster black. I love how the yellow bit in the barrel looks. Did you do something to the feet? Most TF feet don't sit that flat in wider stances like that.
His feet are actually designed to have a slight tilt to them, so in fact if his legs were parallel his feet would not be flush to the floor!
Well, thanks to you, I got another BB for the double canon. Looks badass! I did have to modify the inside of the left forearm and the tab on the canon for it to fit. Not just a simple swap. As for the double bladed Bee, looked better than I thought it would. Still, had to do some slight sanding, cutting, and trimming so that the right blade would fit in car mode.
Yup there definitely has to be some trimming done to both the gauntlet's plug and the pocket for it inside the forearm, but if you have an exacto blade it shouldn't take more than 10 minutes. Honestly, hitting some road blocks for the upper area behind his shoulders. I haven't had time to fully commit to it for troubleshooting either because I'm doing a Modified Ratchet commission for a fellow member here. I have 2 solutions for the "mini" wings in terms of approach. a. If you are familiar with the deluxe Sideways figure you will notice how his window/wings are designed to flip upwards for his bot mode. This is the same approach I can do for Bee. b. I may also run a long pin from each triangular window connecting the two, and secure the pin to the back window allowing it to rotate and flip upward. My apologies, but the mods I'm doing on Bee have been put aside for the past few days because of my current commission in process. I will DEFINITELY be doing the mods, I just can't in all actuality tell you it will be any time soon. Thank you for checking up on it though! I highly appreciate it!
Darn.... I didn't want him initially because of the asymmetrical arms and now your mod make me wanting to get 2 instead...arrgghh. Hmm.. just wondering... do you think it's possible to add wrist joints ? With that I think it will make this mold even better.
Most definitely possible, and in the same way the ball joints were added to Leader Class Starscream's wrists as well. You would have to cut the pin that goes through the wrist so that it stops just before the new ball joint, and still keeps the thumb attached to the hand.
Hey mampy, thanks! Beyond doing detail work with yellow (mix of testors yellow and red), black, grays, gold... I wouldn't go any further than that except for drybrushing all the grayish metal parts - but I haven't learned how to drybrush yet. I normally go to Autobotx23 for that kinda work, but I'm open for anything. Once I finish a commission I'm working on I'll go back to bee and finish the mods to his back before finalizing a good ol' paint job! BTW, are you in Manila? My wife was over there for the last few weeks and she got to experience yet another Typhoon there. It was a pretty bad one!
Just wanted to say that you & OMEGAPRIME1983 have sold me on this mold, and I watch your updates eagerly!
I am anticipating what Savio is going to do as well. I have a good Idea as to what I want to do, but not to sure as to the execution of doing so... I'm hoping that you're going to finish your ratchet commission up soon and get back on this!! Still not sure I'm going to go the double blaster bee though. I wish I had either some sculpting skills or could learn the ways of CAD and just make better gauntlets for BB.. If I could do that I'd totally replace the one's that are on him, ditch the blade, and make the blast not visible on his arm.. though.. I'm not sure how I'd do it..
now this is a custom! do u have any tutorial vids on how to paint the hands? btw good job! how much would it cost for you to do the little wings mod on my bee?
I think the current arm blaster gauntlet is fine - but love that you're attacking the blocky chest...
