That's a different matter. There's a difference between acknowledging something is racist and finding it offensive. Not many people find Speedy Gonzales offensive any more, but it's the rare person who doesn't believe he's a racist charicature. I have no problem with people who don't believe the Twins are offensive. It's the warped and misguided attempts to deny the racism and villify those who recognize it that get unsettling. And hey, everybody's a little bit racist. Racism exists. It only becomes dangerous when people turn a blind eye to it.

 

I couldn't agree more, especially on the last part. Well said my friend. I used to be a bit like that earlier when this entire racist thing started, then I grew a bit more mature and thought a bit more deeply about it as I spent more time with some of the much more wiser people on this board.

Caricature artists, when sketching/painting someone, tend to find the feature(s) on one's face that stands out the most and exaggerate it out of proportion. Look at the faces of Mudflap and Skids, and think of them as caricatures of kids today, just by... er... de-exaggerating (For the lack of a better term) the exaggerated features like the flaps on the sides of their heads and the goofy eyes, the teeth etc.

I tend to look at this whole debacle as if the concept artists took the stereotypes of youth pop-culture today, mashed them all together, slice it in two and crafted each Twin out of that. I kinda find it funny when viewing it from that point-of-view  

Back on topic, As I've said in a previous post, giving these two characters a healthy dose of maturity would do them some good and earn them respect. I actually kinda saw it happening near the end of the movie when they took on Devastator. And poof! They disappeared for the remaining twenty five minutes or so. The only remains of them are the crappy repaints we are getting of their figures that my local stores do not need more of :banghead

1) jar Jar Binks them: limited camera time

2) have their voice boxes ripped out or disconnected like Bee's

3) Definitely tone down the banter, especially the 90s gangsta rapper slang- so lame

4) Overall for the movie and I'll take the flak, tone down the language and sensuality of the movie, make it a true PG 13

Honestly? If they have to be in the film, show any character development or maturation at all. They saw The Fallen, the potential end of a world, they saw comrades blown apart, a human die for them and be reborn (even if not firsthand, they would know of it).

Anyone would be changed by these experiences, sobering even a little, taking the war even a tiny bit more seriously.

That's not what we're likely gonna get, but there.

I dont know to be honest. I like the twins as they are, may ust give them a little less dialogue in the film and when they do speak maybe tone down the immaturity a little bit but not so much that they become so mature that we hate them even more. Like I said, just tone down the immaturity a little bit and less dialogue.

 

make them a movie-ised version of Rack 'N' Ruin

 

Have them kill humans or their own Autobots
