    1) It says the kid won a life-size drawing of himself as a transformer.

    2) It doesn't show the drawing.

    3) It's a competition where the kid with more toys than the other kids wins a prize. There's something fundamentally wrong with that.

Maybe our little Ron Weasly is the biggest transformer fan, only because he is the BIGGEST transformers fan in United Kingdom. Who knows what that bumblebee suit hides! I've been to London once, and the "fatties" were mainly tourists :p

    Seriously congrats on the kid.
I know, at that age, I wouldn't not have wanted that picture to be used.
Maybe he didn't want to wear it
who knows if the photograph pushed him to look ridiculous.
Where I come from, he would have be bullied for sure after that.
    Tough luck on the kid!
    Hope it's worth it.

He's 12. 600 toys in the last 3 years? Do his parents have 2 jobs? What a spoiled child.

    but whatever, congrats kid.

I'm happy to Own a 2007 1970's Bumblebee toy, I'm happy to own a 2007 Concept Camero Bumblebee, and I'm Happy to own the other few that differ a bit.

But when they make 3 repaints of every version and ever one of them is yellow - I get a little annoyed.. at least some of the Legends ones have interesting stripe patterns. and I was happy to have Stealth Bumblebee and Cliffjumper.

But my emotional response to those Boxed set's Bumblebee was one of annoyance more than anything... heck they don't even match the legends they've made already like Recon Bumblebee.

So when it comes to Bumblebee I wish they'd tone it down a bit - if they want to homage do it in Transformers Prime I suppose it makes sense there.

But in all Honestly I'd rather they moved forward in time with their homages past 1985.
Or found a way that a decent number of one of their lines were unique character that are not homages or repaints.

I remember buying toys like the Decepticon Stormtroopers or The Skyscorchers and I was more excited by them or Calcar or things that were new and interesting characters or indeed gimics.

I don't want that to vanish as we get past 50 deluxes on Bumblebee by 2014 and every character in TF: Prime is a homage.

Where's the role for new Characters with their own story like say Energon 'Wingsaber' had.... a story we can't guess the end off.

To many homages for me is at the risk of becoming a bit clisque - perhaps they need to go back the rule of 3 year related lines as with A.E.C.

It's so frustrating as with Animated when you know there's loads of characters on the show you'd likely never see, or with something you enjoy like Mini-cons existing only as repaints or in a heavily conceptually changed way.

I just see Bumblebee as an example of two much interest in a single character - just look how enthused people were by some of the Movie characters that are not even in the movie just because the ones people liked were ones that were something a little different - be it a Biplane, or a Helicopter that does not suck, or a nice FSW plane with a Trident.

Homages don't have to be Bad Axer is a good homage as it addresses the issue that the original Axer was a non-Transformer and redeems him through the new toy.

And I don't mind if the toys that came before had specific flaws that might benifit from being addressed.

But I have to say I'm not sure I need another Sideswipe or Sunstreaker for quite a long time to come really... as there's nothing much wrong with the Classics/Universe ones.

And the problem with Homages is self evident with the movies where every piece of Marketing is for Optimus and Bumblebee because they think they are the ones everyone will know - a problem that was less prelevent in 2007 - but by 2009 only those two were used to sell the movie and promote it and on most 3rd party products.

Sideswipe & Megatron & Starscream deserved a lot more love than they got. I can only worry that the idea of making Transformers so specifically character driven will lead to Optimus and Bumblebee the movie again (with a few Ferrari sprinkles added)...

    ______________________

Special Appreciation?...Not really ... OH maybe you can applaud my dedication to enhancing Hasbro's sales turnover over an extended period if you like.

And I can't be a 'True fan' anyway as I don't have any great fondness or manic appreciation for G1 either a toyline or a TV show - I think the toys that came after are better and I play with them more. and I never had any mania for the TV show either.

So in some people's view as I don't worship at the alter of G1 as much as some might think you have to to be a 'True fan'.

[I am teasing a little bit with these post obviously]

I think Animated's introductions of support characters was done right by integrating them with the main, more developed leading cast. And for a while, on the toyside of it, they were doing great by appeasing kids who want the main cast, and collectors who wanted, well, toys for everyone that popped up. Of course that all fizzled out and now we have stuff like that Murauder Megatron that will never see the light of a factory.

I'm not all that mad at the kid winning, I'm just mad at how he won. Just because he owns 600 Transformers doesn't mean he knows everything about Transformers. I'm also a kid, and I am FAR from knowing everything about Transformers, but I do know alot.

Congratulations to the kid, I don't know him, I can't hate him.
Obviously he loves Transformers, and I can't hold anything against fellow fans.

So, I'm one year older than the kid, I would say that I have a generally wealthy family, I've been collecting for about two years, but he beats my collection by 500. I don't think that makes him more of a fan than me. It's sad that the collection count is what matters here. But what's even more sad is the fact that it's the only way to judge this kind of competition.

Hopefully he'll realise that not ALL online Transformers fans are as butthurt, jealous and spiteful as some of the "adults" in this thread seem to be.

Man, what do his parents do for a living? I thought I was spoiled as a child, but 600+ toys? Wow.

Congrats to the kid, though. I'm pretty sure I won't ever own that many TFs in my lifetime.

I'm so terribly ashamed of some of you sore losers. Please get the hell out of here, all of you.

It's just a fun contest and I bet it made the kid happy, sheesh.

Pft. Why don't we do that here? No doubt TJ would win. He deserves it.

And isn't he too young to be a mint in seal box collector? Toys are meant to be played with, not put on a shelf and look pretty. Although they look very very pretty.
