I suspected that to be honest...too bad it would have been epic o see the properr Mondas Cybermen... Who knows maybe in the future we'll see some badass re-designed Cybermen I would kill to see the live acton version of these awesome guys! Anywas bloody amanig episode, love it It was the best first episode of a finale so far, next to season 3 finale.... ...let's just hope that it doesn't turn out to be huge pile of dog carp like every otherfianle...
What an episode, I was on my toes the whole time. I almost wish i wasn't going to Botcon to see the finale...almost
Ah but they do that they could risk being what blows up the tardis couldn't they, rather than risk it simply lock up the doctor forever as he's the only one that can control the tardis and so ends the problem with out risk of destorying yourselves... or at least so they think.
I thought that at first, but then its the Cyberleader that says "all universes will be deleted". To have the Cybermen out of all the aliens present say that suggests to me that they're the parallel universe ones rather than the Mondasians. I could be reading too much into that, but the story doesn't suggest anything either way.
Yeah but by locking him up, you know for sure where he's at all the time. You never know when you might need the bastard
Just watched the repeat tonight, still a 10/10. This is how I've rated the series so far. The Eleventh Hour 10/10 Beast Below 7/10 Victory of the Daleks 6/10(re-rating) The Time of Angels 10/10 Flesh and Stone 7/10 Vampires of Venice 8/10 Amy's Choice 9/10 The Hungry Earth 8/10 Cold Blood 7/10 Vincent and the Doctor 9/10 The Lodger 9/10 The Pandorica Opens 10/10. Hopefully there'll be another 10/10 worthy episode this week.
The comment of "all universes will be deleted" lead me to believe that are from the parallel universe.
The universes line could just be a mistake. Like referring to the Raxacoricofallapatorians as slitheen.
Here's how I rate it, "The 11th Hour" = 5/10 "The Beast Below" = 4/10 "Victory of the Daleks" = 5/10 "The Time of Angels/Flesh & Stone" = 4/10 ( Would have scored it higher but River Song's presence dragged it down a few notches. ) "Vampires of Venice" = 4/10 "Amy's Choice" = 9/10 "The Hungry Earth/Cold Blood" = 2/10 "Vincent & The Doctor = 9/10 "The Lodger" = 0/10 "The Pandorica Opens" = 4/10
I've been watching Doctor Who since I was 9, during the tail end of the Tom Baker era, and as far through as PBS would show the episodes. Not all of them are good, not all of them were beyond fantastic. I guess what I'm saying is don't like it? Don't watch it. I just don't understand the RTD hate. He wasn't a bad writer. He assisted with the revision of Doctor Who to a more modern approach. Yeah, the bang bang boom approach is ham handed. I don't think it's lazy since it's only been 3 years and the writers are trying to find the same medium that Transformers Animated did, enough of a new approach to make it fresh and enough old references to appease the 'purists'. I feel we're getting that with this new version. Yeah, the ol' get em together, blow them up is done 9x to Sunday, but I do like how it's written, and how the characters have development, the plot doesn't plod, and the enemies are new and old at the same time. 'Pandorica' is definitely one of those cluster episodes, but I'll watch it because I want to see the Doctor kick every collective beings collective butt and then tell them why he's going to keep kicking them.
QFT. I don't mind the reset button endings either, hell, I get a good laugh out of them and enjoy the hell out of the episode anyway.
Maybe, but then it sounds like a desperate attempt to classify them as Mondasian Cybermen when there's no evidence they were. Besides, I think someone or something brought all those monsters together in the first place, so I don't see why its such a stretch that it could have brought the Cybus Cybermen along. And if we're going to rate episodes so far, here's my spin; The Eleventh Hour - 10/10 The Beast Below - 8/10 Victory of the Daleks - 6/10 Time of the Angels - 7/10 Flesh and Stone - 10/10 Vampires of Venice 4/10 Amy's Choice 9/10 The Hungry Earth 5/10 Cold Blood 9/10 Vincent and the Doctor 2/10 The Lodger 9/10 The Pandorica Opens 10/10. He was a good drama writer, however he was a bad sci-fi writer.
All abour the rating banwagon The Eleventh Hour - 10/10 (perfect into to the series!) The Beast Below - 8/10 (great episode, shuld have done more with the smilers) Victory of the Daleks - 8/10(it was a solid fun episode, should have been a two parter. Still don't get the hate for teh Dalek re-designs) Time of the Angels - 8/10 (very nice intro to the two parter, the last scene was brilliant) Flesh and Stone - 6/10 (another fun episode but angles acting like ******s when Amy is CLEARLY having her eyes closed yet they weren't moving was such a WTF moment that I just got pissed. Also not liking the fact that one angel moved, I guees it's like a mid-transformation thing but still...) Vampires of Venice 3/10( It felt like an RTD leftover episode, those vampire chicks annoyed me...) Amy's Choice 10/10(AWESOME EPISODE! Again should've been a two parter, but still awesome episode!) The Hungry Earth 4/10 (Silurian re-designs sucked! It was still fun to some degree) Cold Blood 5/10 (Again redesings sucked! BUt it was an interesting episode. The epic ending shot saved it.) Vincent and the Doctor 10/10 (Perfect episode, simply perfet, loved every single minute of it. And at the end I cried a bloody river, it was an amazing episode!) The Lodger 1/10(This episode was ******ed, it like RTD wrote it, hated hated hated it!) The Pandorica Opens 10/10 (Epicness at it's finest! Best cliffhanger EVER! Seriously how the hell are they going to get out of this one, this is even more f***ed up than anything RTD ever wrote in his finales, there at lest was some hope this is like "Abandon all hope ye who watch this episode". I hope to god the second part is at least half this good)
Might as well do some ratings too. The Eleventh Hour - 10/10 The Beast Below - 9/10 Victory of the Daleks - 7/10 Time of Angels - 10/10 Flesh and Stone - 8/10 Vampires of Venice 5/10 Amy's Choice - 8/10 The Hungry Earth - 7/10 Cold Blood - 8/10 Vincent and the Doctor - 8/10 The Lodger - 5/10 The Pandorica Opens - 10/10
Ratings go! The Eleventh Hour - 9/10 The Beast Below - 5/10 Victory of the Daleks - 7/10 Time of the Angels - 6/10 Flesh and Stone - 7/10 Vampires of Venice 4/10 Amy's Choice 8/10 The Hungry Earth 3/10 Cold Blood 5/10 Vincent and the Doctor 9/10 The Lodger 7/10 The Pandorica Opens 7/10. I'll admit the two Silurian episodes scoring so low was due to my butthurt at the reinvention.
I don't understand the hurt at the Silurian redesign, I thought they looked good and drove across that they are supposed to be like humanity evolved from lizards rather than apes. They actually looked like real creatures rather than Seahorse mutations. Plus it had Stephen Moore as the head Silurian, shame he wasn't playing a manically depressed robot but it's good to see him in something again. Not the best episodes of the series but were interesting and a fun reinvention. I would say that Vampires of Venice was the most boring of the series, The Lodger the most facepalm of the series but Vincent and the doctor wasone of the best episodes Doctor Who has ever produced IMO. The Pandorica opens- Most annoying cliffhanger ever but brilliantly crafted episode. Interestingly the three Daleks there, can understand the White Supreme and the red drone being there, but why the yellow eternal? wouldn't the orange scientist have made more sense?
