Being fascinated by the numerous custom transformers on this site, I finally bit the bullet and gave it a shot myself!!

Using a Classics Silverstreak, I opted to re-create one of my favourite G2 toys - Skram, just in time for Botcon.

The process itself was quite straightforward - i snipped the horns off the head, gave him a good scrub and started painting.

    I used Vallejo model paints:
    Andrea Blue
    Orange Florescent
    Glossy Black
    Red
and a mix of gloss black and silvergrey for the grey parts (headlights etc).

Being based off a Axelerator, I felt that slightly moding a gun from a alternator Shockwave would suit this model. just add a Neodymium disk magnet and a small strip of metal (from a paper clip) to the gun, and it holds in place to the back of Skram quite well.

Hardest part was trying to colour the eyes, my unsteady hand didn't help matters. I had a blast with him though, and already done a few more customs.

Id be happy to hear any suggestions or criticisms!

    Thank you!

Nice work. Are the doors removed in robot mode?

wow nice 1st custom brian! love the colours! and if your struggling with the eyes on this mold in particular just take the light piping out the back of the head paint the eye parts and then put it back in! et voila! perfect painted eyes and no mess!

keep up the awsome work my man!

Thanks everyone for the words of encouragement. I am well and truly hooked! Ive already thrown together a few other customs, and hope to post them up here soon.

Yeah Genetic, I detached the door for robot mode, as I think it helps him resemble the original a bit more. The good thing about this figure is how easy it is to pop the doors/ wings on and off.

Thanks for the tip Nathan, I'll keep it in mind for my next project. Well done with your Diaclone Bluestreak, One of your best yet.

You are quite rite HotrodISR, he is missing a bit of detail. I had toyed with the idea of adding some purple lines to him (god knows, I have enough purple paint at the mo). But I'm kinda leaning towards the red flame look he had in the IDW comics.

    Thanks again everyone!

This is a great first custom, man. This isn't the easiest mold to paint, especially for a first bash. Great job, and keep it up! :thumb

Thanks for answering. I've got a custom in the pipeline and was wondering about detaching the doors or seeing if there was a way I could get them to fold onto the back of the figure. After seeing what you've done here, I'll probably just take them off as it looks a lot neater.

No problem. The doros can be folded down. Sort of. I prefer to detach them though to help make him stand out a bit more beside prowl and the custom ricochet (Thanks Nellie) I have on my shelf.

What kind of custom are you working on? Or is it a big surprize?
