You do realize that that's in Takara's ballpark too, right?

 

I know Takara does a lot of the designing for both companies (quite possibly all), and a lot of takara product is no better than Hasbro product. Would takara do that stuff better if Hasbro wasn't involved and discussing costs and other concerns for the US market- I have no idea.

But I do know that all the best stuff (alternity, MP, and a few other odds and ends) are done specifically for the japanese market with hasbro either never bothering to bring it over or doing it much later (and in many cases doing releases of inferior quality).

 

Man, when images of this thing first came out, I hated it more than I think I've ever hated any other Transformer. I hated the hideous grinning car model choice (though it would be suited for Depth Charge, looking like a manta ray as much as it does), I hated the fake car hood on the chest, I hated the awkward cut-cloth-looking wings made from the top of the car, I hated the scoop-like shoulder intakes, I hated the hexagonal face. I could have written an essay on all the things wrong with this figure.

But, heaven help me, I'm starting to like it. WHAT THE HECK IS WRONG WITH ME?!?!? It's making me question whether I have any judgement left at all anymore, or whether I'm just addicted to the damn collecting. Argh!

I still hate the fake car hood on the chest. I still hate the awkward wings. And that is still one ugly car. but you know, the face is starting to grow on me. I actually like that it looks so insect-like and alien, with the multiple eyes and reptile jaw. It's like a crazy mutated Brundlefly version of Starscream, like his endless coup attempts have exposed him to one too many hazardous materials.

And his legs are really great-looking, very mecha and dynamic. I also have to look at history; I hated Alternity Bumblebee and Cliffjumper in photos, but loved them when I had them in-hand. Maybe that's just the nature of the Alternity figures: they are a hell of a lot cooler when you see them in person.

What the hell, I'm gettin' this crazy Carscream and his purple brother. I'll probably end up loving them for their weird ugliness.

i think this guy suppose to be tracks by the looks of it...so they make him to be ss first then later repaint him as tracks.. so people will cheer up...because if its the other way around people will question if its a right mold for ss

 

And if they do a Tracks version, you could just parts swap him with some of Skywarp's parts, and get a Thundercracker out of it.

Starscream's head gives me an Animated vibe, overall though Skywarp is the winner for me.

For those that don't like the colors, bear in mind this is a licensed vehicle and has to reflect the colors this car is available in.

As I recall from the last thread, blue isn't an available option for this vehicle ... so any potential Thundercracker would likely be black, perhaps with a few blue bits in the bot mode.

 

Silver is an option too that would work well for Thundercracker.

That's the thing with these figures, they always are so much better in hand then the pictures lead you to believe.

Well, I think making the top half of each eye black would help the head a tiny bit.

I do like that idea a lot. Provided enough of the robot parts are blue, it'd fit with the other two and their "reminiscent, but different" colour schemes.

Actually, if you go the silver car/blue robot route, then it'd be quite reminiscent of Cybertron Thundercracker, while Cybertron Skywarp was also prominently purple. And there's certainly a bit of Armada Seeker going on in the design.

 

Henkei Thundercracker had a lot of silver on him too, between his knees, shins, and foot detail. It was the equivalent to Skywarp's purple and Starscream's blue & gold on that release.

I was speaking more about the Cybertron version because his alt-mode was predominantly grey, though, which would make a good parallel to a silver car Thundercracker.

 

I'm not seeing Starscream, but I'm seeing a pretty decent Tracks repaint in it.

 

Thanks for doing these, as I will be repainting the head just like this. Just painting the crest and top half of the eyes makes it look far more normal.
