Wasn't really my type of rock either, but in an industry heavily populated by egos, and bad-attitudes, real and put-on, he came across as gracious and unpretentious. RIP
Oh I see his face Where is your star It is far, is it far, is it far When do we leave, yeah I believe, I believe
Ah, damn. The Dehumanizer album from when Dio headed up Black Sabbath is one of my favorite albums of all time and "Holy Diver" is high up on my favorite songs list. A real shame that he's passed away. R.I.P. Dio \m/__________\m/
I just heard the news earlier today. This...I'm so overwhelmed. I've seen Dio twice live and saw Heaven and Hell on the tour after the Black Sabbath Dio Years album came out. I have a friend that has met Ronnie and said that there was no nicer person out there, and also Jon Schaffer who is my biggest hero has said the same. What makes this even more ironic and sad, is that my band played the night before he died and we closed with Heaven and Hell which is also a cover on our next album soon to be released. This is truly tragic and the biggest loss in not just metal, but in MUSIC period. Goodbye Ronnie. You were one of my many surrogate fathers. \m/ \m/
For those interested, here is a link to Ronnie's last song ever. It was recorded about a month ago and was the last thing Ronnie did in the studio. The final version will be polished and released later in the year on 'The Rods' new studio album. YouTube - Metal Will Never Die..Dio Last Song Ever 5.17.10.MOV
