Unlike many other pre-orders a store called JBHiFi in Australia has announced today that they will have an "issue #1" Transformers War for Cybertron comic from IDW Publications available with any pre-order of the game.

As far as I know this is the first pre-order anywhere in the world that provides a comic and is also the first we have heard of a IDW series based in the War for Cybertron timeline (or at least the first we have seen of a cover).

See this link: TRANSFORMERS: WAR FOR CYBERTRON (Bonus Comic Book) | Games, Platforms, PS3 : JB HI-FI

    - - personally I won't be pre-ordering from here just because the bonus (if I'm correct) will be able to be purchased outside of any pre-order.

    UPDATE:

Hursticon from OTCA.com.au has the following new information:

Ok, it's not much but hopefully someone will find this info interesting or useful:

    The Story So Far:
Cybertron, the robotic home planet of the Transformers, is in unrest. Violence has started to break out due to a... difference of opinions... between the ruling class and the labor-class. The tension is reaching a fever pitch. As such, the high council has called a meeting to discuss the disputes with two of the labor-class leaders...

Based on selected passages from the novel TRANSFORMERS: EXODUS by Alex Irvine, published by Random House.

    Script:
    Alex Irvine

    Pencils & Inks:
    Don Figueroa

    Colours:
    Andrew Dalhouse

    Letters:
    Robbie Robbins

    Editor:
    Andy Schmidt

    Comic Size:
    6.625" x 10.187"

    Page Count:
    16 Pages

    * It seems that this will mark the first time that IDW has produced a comic series that is a (somewhat) adaption of a book. *

Meh. Cover art is bland, and id rather have an in game character, concept art, or figure than some half a comic book.

Meh. Unless this is written by Nick Roche, it will probably be another dire by-the-numbers story.

I knew it! I knew IDW was going to put out a book. I bet anyone that the novel coming out is going to have discrepancies with the game and that this comic will fit better. Just like how it always is with the movie stuff! For Optimus to become a Prime in the book and in the game always sounded fishy to me.

    This book looks cool though!

Unless Alan Dean Foster writes a book, it may be decent. If he writes it then prepare yourself for a heaping pile of shit.

Not even close. While not common, it has happened in the past. Hell, just recently with Mass Effect 2.

it is rare for it to be a full size comic, but again. it does happen.

Not even sure I'll want this but I have to take a stand and say I HATE HATE HATE HATE DIFFERENT EXCLUSIVE CONTENT OFFERED BY DIFFERENT RETAILERS. It's even gotten to the point where Walmart and Best Buy are offering different versions of movies! Throw it in as a retailer exclusive for a certain period of time - but then they should make this comic (and all the downloadable characters) available to the masses.
