Since us G1'ers are old enough to have kids (not that you later generations aren't) I figured I'd start a thread about our kids and our toys and how well or not so well they get along. So about this time last year I acquired a vintage Voltron lion set (yeah I know its not a Transformer, but its close enough). I have a habit of letting my then 2 year old daughter "stress test" anything new I happen to get. I don't know where this habit came from but she's been playing with anything I unpack since she was born. She usually plays with whatever I get for a few minutes and then moves on. This time something was really different! For whatever reason Voltron really held her attention. Then when I separated him into the five lions, she just fell in love. She sat on the floor and placed each Lion facing her in a semi circle in front of her. She went on posing and positioning the lions as best she could for a good 30 minutes! Anyone with a 2 year old knows thats a millennium for them! Once she moved on I had to hide Voltron because of his lead based paint. Every time she saw it she would ask for it. After about a month of this I went ahead and ordered her a Toynami plastic Masterpiece Voltron, and low and behold she did the same thing when I opened it for her. A year later she still plays with her Voltron. Shockingly it went unbroken for over 6 months! When it was broken it wasn't by her, but by her great uncle. I was really pissed! It broke in a manner that was a giant pain in the ass to fix due to Toynami using rivets in the knee joint, and generally weak plastic, but it is currently good as new and still one of her favorites. Thats all I got...
Does it have to be OUR kids? If not, then this one time I let a family friend's daughter play with Classics Hound, and his bumper got ripped off. Kid felt bad, but ended up surprised when I just reattached it.
Um... my 2 year old nephew ripped the doors off my Human Alliance Side Swipe. Luckily they popped right back in, the joint wasn't damaged. But um... yeah he really seems to like Side Swipe for some reason. He refused any other less fragile (and cheaper) transformers I tried to give him.
My daughter goes TF shopping with me and call's them all bee's. She also has collected about 15 different bumblebee's. Guess ROTF marketing worked because my 2 yr old know's bumblebee in any incarnation.
well, my nephew knows them as trasfoaners, and will scream if i don't show him a racecar. usually classics sideswipe or mirage, and loves me to fly the jets (mp seekers) around the house. He is surprisingly gentle with them if I don't seem to catch him with others of the collection right away.............and he just loves to sit and watch me work on kitbashes or just plain playing with the figs in posing or whatever......

My baby cousins enjoy a beautiful display of Transformer death and destruction as they pit any bot they can find against one another in merciless gladiatorial combat. And then they want me to turn them into a car. And then they continue the slaughter in a race of inevitable peril.
My 3 year old daughter can identify Optimus Prime on sight. Any version, movie, classics, whatever. Must be the color scheme.
Well, his design is pretty uniform across the toylines, particularly the face. And don't forget, face recognition is one of the first skills a baby has. And yeah, my son (who'll be 3 at the end of the month) knows a few TFs by name now (mostly BB,Optimus, and Bulkhead, thanks to an Animated puzzle I got him). He's gone back into a "gotta play with daddy's toys" phase, which is fun, since he's a little more coordinated now than he was the last time he was really interested in them.
my friend's son will call me every week at least to transform his rotf prime, and always asks if he can play with the collection, after seeing his 07 tfs, i'm waiting to see how he fares with the rotf ones in terms of breaking them before then, if he's good, i'll play with him
I'm one of the few guys at work without kids, so I keep a few few TFs (and sometimes rotate out) on my desk for my coworkers' sons and daughters to play with when they come in. Right now, Sentinel Prime and the Legends Constructicons are holding court, along with my mainstay of PowerMaster Prime. One of my coworkers adopted two haitian boys, who always have to get at him whenever they come by.
Years back I bought my cousin's children a couple Playskool "Go-Bots" for Christmas. He never transformed them much, but loved racing Speed-bot's car mode around on the floor, or flying Gorilla-bot in robot mode around the room yelling "BUUHH-IIITE-EARRR!!" (translation: "Buzz Lightyear!")
