I just know that G1 beat Animated's & Beast War's ass.

Not really a beating. it was a narrow race tainted by a "G1 came first so it has to win regardless of anything else" mentality. there was no ass beating here. 3 votes seperated it this time.

Died when I rented some VHS tapes of the G1 show in 91 and thought I was stupid for ever liking the show.

 

Is that PS1 or PS2?

You make it sound like neither Animated nor Beast Wars didn't stand a chance.

I personally see no ass beating there. Animated and BW were pretty close.

 

Honestly, the only fun I get out of G1 anymore is that sort of nothing-else-going-on-today entertainment. Beast Wars undeniably has the better story/characters, but again; this was all preference, and it most certainly wasn't a landslide.

Seriously, again, compared to say, the new CGI Clone Wars cartoon on now, which has great animation, and yet it's characters don't visually emote nearly to the level of Beast wars.

Beast Wars won an Emmy. Or rather, Clyde Klotz, the Production Designer for BW, won one for Outstanding Individual Achievement in Animation in 1997.

That's not really the point if you actually consider the context.

You picked one of the best scenes in beast wars, and tried to make a joke about it.

but that scene happens to feature Transmetal Megatron, which is one hell of an impressive CG model.

so yes, I'm going to remind you that the G1 cartoon looked like absolute shit, even as far back as MTMTE.

Beast wars had a wonderful advantage in it's CG models. they alway looked right.

but mostly, I posted that wonderful link because one of the people voting for G1 said this about the G1 show:

most insanely awesome cliffhanger the franchise has ever seen. blew my mind when I saw it for the first time. still get chills today.

 

Wow, this was a close poll. I honestly had a hard time choosing between my two favorite shows, ultimately though, I chose G1.

I can't make it through 15 seconds of BW without cringing at the horrendous animation...
