Pardon the dumb question, if it is a dumb question, LOL! But does this interfere with any packages from China?
Only if they pass through Europe I would've thought. I'd hope that they'd have alternate routes planned if that was the case. As for us in Europe... we gotta wait it out.
There's been some talk on NBC Nightly News that there may be a second eruption by the volcano next to the one that erupted recently, and this one may be a hundred times more powerful.
I HAYTE ACE LAYUND! A second volcano is going to erupt? Christ, Iceland is just going to end up crumling into the Atlantic Ocean at this point.
No worries guys, all is well here in good old Reykjavik city. Seriously, all we've seen or heard from these blasting volcanoes (yes plural! We're talking two different eruptions here)is over the news, be it the local TV news or the international press. The ash and smoke of the new volcano are mainly affecting the farms and crops situated around the glacier itself, us city-folk haven't felt or seen anything yet, local flights are running on schedule, international flights to and from U.S and Canada also. It's mainly Britain and Europe that are affected by this ash cloud, only due to the wind direction although most of us would like to look at this as just a big stinky FART over the U.K. and the Netherlands due to that whole IceSave bank debacle *shakes fist* Seriously, I hope everyone is fine and well and that this little reminder of our power didn't inconvenience anyone too much...for now at least. Exactly as it's written?? Don't ever say that about a nordic-language word to anyone who isn't Scandinavian. The results will be much like this: A video of how various news reporters butcher the name of the glacier, much to the amusement of the locals: YouTube - Eyjafjallajökull - You're doing it wrong! You. Are an ass.
Second? THIRD. And trust me, if this one does go off, you'll be looking at a no-fly zone on the northern hemisphere for SEVERAL MONTHS. Not to mention that most of Iceland and neighbouring countries WILL be covered in several feet deep volcanic ash. Worrying fact is, this scenario does not look too far from actually happening at this point. When one volcanic eruption stops, that just means the pressure has got to make it's way somewhere else.....
Here's some absolutely fantastic pics of the latest eruption, for those interested in awesome photography: Helvedes-vulkanen! | www.bt.dk From a Danish new site, who name this session "The Volcano of HELL."
My g/f is one of the many who had her travel plans disrupted because this Volcano. She was suppose to fly to Paris via Air France the day of the eruption (Thursday). <fingers crossed> and I hope nothing else happens. She's rebooked for the end of May
It always amazes me when you see pics of lightning in the volcano plumes. IO9.com have more images of them: Eyjafjallajökull Rains Lightning Upon You - Volcano - io9 including a link to possible theories as to why you get lightning in the plumes
Wow that's freaky and beautiful at the same time. I can't believe how bad this situation is starting to turn out. Mother Nature, you never cease to amaze me with what you can think of next. Your imagination grows as rapidly as the universe that exhibits your creativity.
Further proof that you don't mess with Nature, or she will mess you up. BAD. My thoughts go out to all Icelandic Transfans. Hope you guys are doing okay.
