It depends on the method the content is distributed. If it is already on the game disc, than every version of the game will have that content, which means anyone can use the code. This is what happened with the ROTF game.

If it is DLC from Xbox or PS3 marketplaces, then it will be a one time redemption code download. This is how the makers of Batman Arkham Asylum did it.

Man, I really don't want to decide between them. Guess I'll wait to see if there's anything better with the other retailers.

Ehh... looks nice, but I'll pass. I already have the GameStop pre-order, and Shockwave appeals to me more because he reminds me of an Invid Shocktrooper from Robotech.
And why are they all Decepticons?
I'm still holding out for a Jazz pre-order, THAT will impress me.

Shockwave on the 360. Unless someone else puts out a copy with Springer or Kup, or Even Jetfire. G1 all the way baby, in fact Demolisher being in this game doesn't make much sense at all being that its supposed to be G1 oriented.

Is the "one-time-use-code" attached to your console system as long as the server out there registered it (which I think it should)... It is a smart way to generate pre-orders... now... let's just wait... till others retailers offer other characters... from Autobots...

also I watched the class demo... are those "classes" just distinguished by the special ability ? so I see that ironhide with leader class ability; put it this way,. Will I be able to make a Megatron with just scout class ability ?

None yet. The official points to eight stores with exclusives of their own. GameStop has Shockwave and Amazon.com has Demolisher. The remaining 6 will have exclusive of their own, too, but who exactly has yet to be explained.

I’m guessing there’s going to be an even split: four Decepticons (found at GameStop, Amazon.com, Best Buy and Toys R Us) and four Autobots (found at Sears, Kmart, Walmart and Target).

I wonder if Cyclonus (jet), Scourge (hovercraft), or one of the Insecticons (as a land-based vehicle) will make up the rest of their faction's lineup.

I wonder if we'll see the likes of Ultra Magnus, Hot Rod, Arcee and Springer making up the Autobot's exclusive characters side of things. Time will tell.

If Hot Rod or Springer are exclusive I'm gonna have a hard time choosing between them and Shockwave.

When I look at the stores up there especially, K-mart and Sears (and to some degree Game Stop), wonder why they're even there. When I was living back home in the States, I not only went to the places easiest to access to make my purchases, but also the one that most the most reasonable. My solution was going to shopping malls/centers, as I could take care of all my needs with one drive. K-mart isn’t part of any malls/centers in my hometown—they have their own land, and though Sears and Gamestop were in malls/shopping centers all around, they were by far the most reasonable in price. Walmart fared better simply because they’re everywhere and they’ve made an effort to match or beat everyone else’s prices.

That said, I think the stores less like to make a sale (K-mart, Gamestop and Sears) are going to get the better exclusives. Ultra Magnus, Springer, Hot Rod or whatever will most likely be found at stores who need help bringing customers in—some stores don’t do as well as others when it comes to drawing customers in, and I wouldn’t be too surprised if stores actually shelled out some serious money for key exclusivity piece(s).

Amazon.com, the easiest place by far to purchase from, has the weakest exclusive offering to date and perhaps future as well. I’m not saying Demolisher is poorly designed, which he is not, but he DOES NOT compare to Shockwave. At All. Shockwave copies of War For Cybertron WILL outsell Demolisher copies in large numbers.

For international gamers buying directly, Amazon.com is our only bet (from my experience). Due to warranty issues, stores do not ship overseas, and sometimes not even to APOs (American address overseas). If you seen an exclusive you like, your only bet, assuming their isn't a collectors edition offered online through Amazon.com or elsewhere is to ask someone here to get it for you. It's sad, but true.

The above mentioned 8 stores (Game Stop, Amazon.com, Toys R Us, Target, Walmart, Kmart, Sears and Best Buy) will all have an exclusive DLC character says the officail page linking to all 8 store's pre-order page (though some links aren't up yet, and some links have little/no information about the bonus item).

Yes, Best Buy will have some sort of exclusive DLC, but noone knows what it is just yet.

Demolishor actually looks pretty cool, and is a nice surprise. Should be interesting to see how he turns out. Though as good as he looks, it's just not a good enough incentive to pre-order the game. Should be interesting to see what characters the other stores get for pre-order incentives. Here's hoping Target gets a good one, cause if I'm going to pre-order the game at all, I'd prefer to pre-order it from Target, tbh.

I'm well aware of that--Gamers are folks most likely to go there, not parents.

I think parents and those buying games for loved ones are more likely to go elsewhere, stores in which a person can take care of all their needs rather than one; in other words, shopping centers/malls.

Maybe parents are the type to usually pre-order games either, but department stores are usuall pretty good about putting up posters and what not, getting the word out. Parents that know a little bit about the things their children like just might order a copy while shopping for other things should something catch their eye. If such a thing ever happens, I think it happens at a store like Target more than Sears/Game Stop.
