Hey all i was able to find a video of the first episode of the new animated online and i thought id share some info on the differences The first thing to point out is the family at the start of the intro arent just some random plug for the toys but a part of the show. The family appear to discucss the characters and plot from what i can gather and they are very kid friendly. They show up at the end of the episode and have 3 min or so of screen time. at the end of the episode they look like they are sitting down for a meal and discussing the transformers. From what i can tell the family are taking the same role as artemis and moon from the beast wars II series describing the characters, setting and plot. The next thing to point out is the kick ass new intro which if ya havent seen it check the front page. while it spoiles some of the plot its still awesome The episode itself has the G1 footage at the start and appears to play as the the pilot did. The first ad break happens at the point where the space bridge explodes after the autobot ship enters it. After the kick ass intro the bumpers are a bit of a let down with the first being a static image of primes truck mode fliping over to show a static shot of prime in robot form. the second bumper was the same but with megatron instead. the art used looks to be very similar or the same as the promo shots of the characters we saw before the us version was released. After the break the episode continues and the autobots crash on earth and the episode continues in the same way as the us version even so far as the time chage is still 50 years from when they crash. The episode ends at the point where the nano blob thing escapes and begins attacking. The animated part of the show then ends and we get the family sitting down for dinner. the father seems to remember the original g1 series as the kid shows off his optimus prime toy.The family introduce themself and have a laugh. then the dad burns his mouth with food and the family laugh at him then the episode ends and we get the outro. The outro consits of the character art moving about on the screen with some photo shop effects over it. The visuals aint too special but the music is just as kick ass as the intros. Im looking forward to getting my hands on both the tracks made for the series. As with most japanese series there is a preview of the next episode with prime and bmblebee appearing to discuss there new modes as scenes from part 2 are shown. One thing to note is that for some reason optimus prime likes to keep saying his own name not too sure what thats about?? Thats about it if theres anything more specific ya want to know just ask. Im sorry if this is hard to read im a bit tired atm.
You didn't, per chance, understand what they were saying, did you? I want to know what possible dialogue changes there are.
maybe he is trying to inform the audience about his name change from Convoy to Optimus Prime? OH OH and what did Blitzwing sound like?
Unfortunately i dont know any japanese so im not to sure if the dialogue changed i only roughly knew what the family where up to from some of the picture in picture stuff shown onscreen like a clip from g1 which was shown when the dad is talking to his son Its quite possible that is the case as he has only bin know as optimus prime in the live action movies in japan and convoy in the other series Blitzwing keeps his 3 personalitys with the first being a calm toned voice the second personality has a gruffer tone but not as loud as it is in english. the last peronality is very similar to the english voice but witha bit more to say. i just notice that only the imported animated video is 4:3 with a transformers logo border the rest (intro, outro and live acion) are all in widescreen
The video was on nico video but it appears to be offline due to copywrite infringement im looking into getting it posted on my you tube account so others can see it without having to sign up to a japanese video sharing site.
im not allowed to post links to video on the forums however if ya want a link to find it pm me and ill see what i can do
I saw the episode last night via someones link in another thread. Again it seems like the pre-show hype painted a slightly different picture then the finished product. They didn't seem to alter things the way I was expecting to "tie into the live action movies" or some of the other changes like having Optimus as Supreme Commander of the Autobots. The voices aren't bad, but I'm just not feeling Megatron, it just doesn't seem to fit this incarnation IMHO. Everyone else isn't bad, but it lacks the touch that Animated had. I'm wondering if the Animated Soundtrack will have any major tracks (other then the intro and outro) that wasn't on the US Animated Soundtrack page, before it got yanked down.
well, animated is all about not having the touch. *RIMSHOT* Seriously, though? That's a bummer. Megs is Norio Wakamoto, so I had high hopes. :c
THIS!^ Like aurex, I also had high hopes because it was Wakamoto voicing him but... nope, his voice just doesn't work for me. I believe is not Wakamoto's fault though, since Japanese TFA Megatron = Movie Megatron, so I'm guessing they gave him the order to make Megatron sound rough/brusque and less low/cunning. I also didn't like how horribly ******ed they made Bulkhead/Ironhide sound. And Teletran-1... well, is not like I didn't expect it. The rest of the cast was OK IMO.
Megatron's voice reminds me of BWII Galvatron where he sounds like he's talking through his teeth. Kinda more beastly-sounding than menacing. Teletraan sounds like she's in love with whoever she's talking to. And Optimus sounds more mature and confident than his western version. I also prefer Cree Summer's BA. She was seductive and spiteful. Japanese BA just sounds kinda bitchy.
It's kind of a shame the first three eps weren't shown all together, since I feel they work better as a whole - but still, it's a start. So far as the voices go, hearing Archer (i.e. Junichi Suwabe) voicing Sentinel is great! Also, Ryoka Yuzuki sounds really good as Blackarachnia, Norio Wakamoto is suitably imposing as Megatron, and Cho is fun as Blitzwing. However, I'm less sold on Bulk-hide's voice, who sounds a bit old, plus Lugnut's not that great either. Things seem a tiiiiny bit quicker than the last time I saw the ep, which might be down to a bit of edit shaving here and there - but perhaps it's just a consequence of fitting dialogue from one language into scenes written for another. I'm not too thrilled on the family bits, though I'm not exactly the target demographic for them. I wonder, though, if they will be dropped if they prove unpopular, or something.
Okay, i'm on the "I hate Wakamototron" train. He sounds... too brash. (he also sounds like he's trying to take a dump :|) And more so than that, I HATE Starscream's voice. He sounds nothing like a Starscream should... actually, I think he sounds more like Megatron than Megatron! Bumblebee, please, for the love of primus, slooooowwww dowwwwwwn. BA was great, Sentinel is spot on **perfect**. Hothead's Americanisms ("heeeeey maaaaan!!" ) are a nice touch by the localization team. But I agree that OP is too HEROHEROHERO... I like me some derp. Ah well, it's TFA in Japanese. There are some differences that are fun (we're small bots!! vs we're repair bots!!). edit: I hate the Otoboto family. with my SOUL. that atrocity, however, was made up in spades for "Opti" and "Pu-pu" in the crack next-episode argument between Bumblebee and Optimus. lol forever.
Probably, for Japan henceforth (since Baymovies) the new reincarnations of OP will not be Convoy any more, he shall remains as OP even in new Japanese series if such will appear.
