I agree that 3 3/4ths is far too small to properly make new Centurion's toys. That scale works best when you have figures that need to interact with vehicles and playsets like Joes or Star Wars figures do. With Centurions, who in and of themselves are more or less vehicles, 6" figures would probably be the best way to go. They're small enough to make them and their accessories affordable while big enough to work in a lot of attachment ports and articulation. Short of some sort of interlocking magnetic system (which would probably make the figures more expensive) the good old peg-and-hole concept is the most reliable way to go.

The new Batman Brave and the Bold figures have a peg/hole system to attach accessories/armour to the figures.

I remember an Action Man Atom figure also had a Centurions esque figure released.

Its weird, this kind of toy has such play possiblilities, yet the actual 80's original isn't getting an update. Even the story stands up to scrutiny today.

Sure, but the Brave and Bold figures are a bit taller than GI Joes, and don't have as many holes as our boys do either.

I dunno, the idea isn't such a rare thing that someone couldn't just make something with a very similiar idea. Land, Sea and Air aren't off limits or anything, and neither is the concept really, just the names and the appearance of the suits.

But, that's why we love them so much I guess. I mean, who doesn't love the rainbow stickers on Wild Weasel's feet pedals?

I know the Brave and the Bold Figs are bigger than Joes, I wasn't continuing that train of thought. That Atom figure was actually quite big IIRC.

I don't understand the specifics of it though, Kenner was bought by Hasbro, so I'd assume the IP of Centurions was also aquired.

Reminicsing about this I do remember the bios on the back of the Centurions boxes being very detailed, lots of back story. Max Ray swims regularly to Hawaii? Stuff like that.

Boy, am I glad to see this thread revived after a long hiatus..

Am a Centurions/Transformers fan who was finding a nice place to talk about these babies and thankfully, there's one place here..

It's a pity that the Centurions figs and cartoon didn't get as much fandom as say TF and G.I Joe but their toys are still awesome..

Many combinations made possible as weapons system uses the same pegs so Max Ray could become Land Operations Specialist (that is,if he wanted to be :p )

Seabat was made but probably in rare quantities AFAIK. There was once a Sea Bat Loose Complete set going on eBay and missing either a missle or a hose and I thought no one else was going to get it but eventually when I had the cash to seal the deal, it was sold on..all for a paltry USD$99.99 :(

I myself have completed Ace McCloud's weapons system (barring his OEM SkyKnight one, which got knackered by yours truly as a kid and am looking to rebuy him now) as well as Jake Rockwell's recently so am now looking for Max Ray but it is a pain to find them at good prices though :(

And oh MnemonicSyntax, you wouldn't happen to have any more scans of Hornet's sticker sheet will ya? I need one as my Hornet's bare naked

Will try to get some photos up meantime too...

Hopefully more guys can come on board to share their collection ;)

I dunno, there were a lot of toys in that period. Thundercats, MOTU and Zoids spring to mind. It is especially difficult to follow all of the toylines outside of america because they were pretty expensive. Now it's great to collect something that you can get MIB at a decent price.

Indeed I do, however I don't have a scanner. I've yet to send them off to Reprolabels either. -.-

I've never really been a fan of the Centurions using other ASW's, I can see Ace using Hornet, but that's about it, if even that. However, I love combining ASWs within each class, my Detonator is the perfect example of this. It's got Wild Weasel's lasers, Horner's missles, and Fireforce's bazooka missle. Sky Bolt has a Sky Knight's missles, boosters, dual laser, stinsel missle, Orbital Interceptor's, rotating laser, satellite dish and boosters. And Depth Charge has Tidal Blast's keel fins, repulsar cannon, Crusier's Hydro Boosters, plasma cannon, and rocket launcher.

Also, my Rocket Launcher has three pegs, but I've had one which had two pegs before I sold it. Anyone else experience this?

I definately go through phases of interest with these guys... and today they got 2 shelves of my main display. They look great when they have room to breathe.

I'd love to get a collection of these, its always something i keep meaning to look into.

Hasbro have M.A.S.K and apart from a Gi Joe Matt Trakker(which was awesome) they never did anythign with it. Even if the family estate rumour is false, its not like Hasbro would go ahead with it just because they own the rights (like M.A.S.K). ALthough i would be all over a nod to the centurions in Gi Joe, like a Special agent Ace McCloud who is the jet pack instructor, or Max Ray who is the diving instructor, that kinda thing.

It shouldn't be that hard to do if you are in America. There are a lot of 'US only' great deals on ebay... I guess it's the same for most toylines though.

I really can't see these guys gaining anything from been incorporated into a modern line. They already have great articulation and sculpts and the fanbase is pretty small.

Once I get off my ass and get working on it, I have an Ace McCloud GI Joe custom figure waiting in the (no pun intended) wings.

The legs have to be bent for it to work, but it works.
