I see it a bit like comic books.

Something comes out and it's hotter than expected. Now if you were a publisher are you going to say no I'm not going to make more money off this so the people who purchased the comic book can resell it for more money? No you are going to do second prints, third prints, trade paper backs, hard cover collections and anything else you can to get more money out of it.

Like the comic books the later prints are just different enough so that first limited run is still special in some way, but the publisher still gets to take advantage of things being hot. These Seekers are just different enough that the exclusives still remain different.

So Hasbro is just responding to demand. Bot Con has still had strong attendance even though we haven't had anything like the Seeker set again. Fans of all types get a shot at the character. Really the only looser out of all this is someone holding on to a set in the hopes that the price might have gone higher.

I don't see why people who have had the Botcon set for YEARS are complaining.

But then again, this hobby is materialism when it boils down to it. In the meantime, you've gotten to enjoy the seeker for over 3 years while those of us who weren't willing to pay all that extra money just waited. You've gotten to enjoy your time it, and you're probably to the point where you're bored with them and they are just on your shelf or in a box. Let those of us who chose to wait and hope enjoy some time in the sun too, you know? Your version is still exclusive, so just relax. Be happy that nearly all Transfans have the opportunity to share in the joy. Stop being so concerned about value and making a buck.

I've never seen anyone from FP claim that a character was exclusive to them. Surely you didn't think they were claiming Hasbro and Takara would never again make ANY toy of Thrust, Dirge, Thundercracker, or the other characters who've been done by FP. (Hasbro: "Oh, we'd love to make another Optimus Prime and Megatron, but there were those 2008 BotCon toys. Darn.")

What's exclusive is the actual toys, including the newly-molded parts for BotCon/Club figures. And that has always remained true.

Different molds, different paint jobs = different figure.

Botcon figures, as it's been stated many, many times, are still exclusives.

As far as I'm concerned, Generations Thrust is a must because it's the most toon accurate of all three.

did the 2007 botcon customizer class people bitch when Universe special edition Overkill came out?

because it's really the same as this whole seeker situation, since the botcon wing mold isnt being used.

overkill and thrust were both botcon exclusive repaints, and the mass-release version of each is using the same mold for the same character, with a different deco than the exclusive.

Hell, since the botcon thrust's wings are a different mold, the botcon overkill people should actually be angrier.

I'm a little confused. Is this a Hasbro or Takara release?

At any rate, I prefer this over the Gentei version because it features the correct black forearms. I hope Dirge gets a similar treatment.

I already have the Botcon classics seekers, so I bought Takara's Dirge but skipped their Thrust. But... I guess since this is a Hasbro release I'll be picking it up. Can a Hasbro release of Takara's Dirge mold be far behind? Will Hasbro find an excuse to release Thundercracker, then, Botcon be dammed?

I'm pretty sure if Hasbro really wants to then they can figure out something with either with the color or finding a way to change some parts to be able to release Thundercracker. After all it is still a Hasbro character and a Hasbro mold that Bot Con used.

Thundercracker would be pretty easy to make very different from the botcon version too. use the same mold, change the color of blue, and give him a modern deco update like they did classics skywarp.

Absolutely. Repaint them just enought to make them different from the botcon releases and finally give us all six seekers at the same time, in the same packaging. Please? Do it for the fans Hasbro. My wall is just begging for all six seekers right next to each other.

Amen to that brother. I'll get any repaint they make out of this mold, it's the perfect G1 Decepticon army.

I would love an army-buildable seeker. having my classics/universe stuff on display right now, the decepticon army's numbers are pathetic. I'm hoping for lots of decepticons in Generations.
